  1. Monica and I are going out to dinner and bowling with Erin for Monica's Bday tonight. Maybe Thursday I'll get started on the RX again... Bah. Oh, I was bad. I got my tax return. Its shiny & 60wx4. Damn Magnolia HIFI!
  2. Why don't you come all the way up to our pad... we could by pizza or somethin'. Or... Anyways, still need to talk to the SO and find out what the plan is.
  3. Spanky... I just called my favorite local supplier, Bow Wow autoparts in Lynnwood. After some time on hold, he told me he could get the kits from one supplier for $495. They have another supplier that is usually cheaper than that, but does not list a kit for subaru's (ea81 or ea82). Now, he did suggest trying something. Buy the carb (without base, without air cleaner) from their cheaper supplier, then throw in the adapter, and air cleaner from empi (bit cheaper). He is waiting for a call back on the price of just the bare weber. I viable option, but requires some extra foot work, but he said would probally yeild the best results. I'll try to follow up when I get a call back from him. If not feel free to give them a call, and talk to Chris. Bow Wow Autoparts: 425.771.6411 If you get it from them, and need help with shipping I'll help ya out... although I'm pretty sure they'd ship to ya.
  4. Huh... I recall just bolting mine up. No more difficult than installing the stock sway bar.
  5. This whole house loves you Noah. Hurry up and come visit.
  6. I, along with a few others, feel that PK really has hit the nail on the head. My professional render of Mr. Ozified's logo:
  7. Another note to Snowmans... Always check your fusible links when replacing an Alt. or Battery. I killed a perfectly good XT6 alt. because of bad/corroded fusible link.
  8. Good luck! Seeya when you get here. Don't hesitate to give me a call, you know my #.
  9. So will Will be teh first? Or are you going with something else?
  10. I'm very interested in this Will. Especially if you do end up MSing it. I haven't been able to find documentation of ANYONE MSing an EJ, something I may be interested in doing shortly...
  11. Thanks for the links Jibs! That one on the PCV's will really help. I'll probally just get my Vac. Caps from my local auto store... just trying to figure out what exact size I need to pick up. I spose I could stop by there with the brat... hmmm...
  12. Well... I got a used $40 Weber. It has water choke. From what I understand, i just can't buy an electric choke, it would involve cannibalizing another weber. I've already found the water lines, right off the front of the intake manifold, that should work perfect for plumbing it.
  13. No, that would get it killed quick. Incase you didnt know, they are trying to put a Motorsports complex out in Kitsap County, near Bremerton I believe. Olympia already nixed the idea this year... but they'll be back in force next year. Yes, I admit, I'm a NASCAR fan. Go ahead, ridicule me. Har har they only turn left har har.
  14. Ok, after bucking and surging all the way into work today, i've finally decided that putting the weber I have sitting around on my Brat needs to be done sooner than later. I'm trying to compile a parts list of what I will need, and a good idea of how to proceed, so this goes as smooth as possible. What I have so far: Weber 32/36 (water choke) Weber adapter (one piece) New air cleaner assembly What else do I need? Vac. caps? what size? Anything for the linkage? What about deleting or blocking all the emissions garbage? Any Weber Vets want to help me do this? Ed? I doubt I could buck the brat all the way down south, i'd sure to get a headache! Also... I know some people have some nifty tricks on how the hitachi linkage/return spring work with the weber.. I'd love to hear them! And yes, I have searched, even read the pictured install in the USRM. Just looking for some more clarification.
  15. Will... I know its hard. I had a hard time making that decision as well. But, just like you, I just can't afford to throw this much money time and again at an engine that may or may not blow up. I need solid reliable power. I thank you for all that you've done with these motors. I feel that if we weren't seperated by a continent we'd be decent friends. Further more, there is no shame to rock an EJ. I know whatever you do it will be a BEAST. I can't wait for that thread. Cheers!
  16. Will... I think the stock gaskets are .030" I believe thats how thick my Copper's were. I would stick as close to the factory specs as possible, thickness wise. Let me know prices, I may be in. Although I might not be in the EA82T game for much longer, I still have an NA EA82 that needs to be pimp'd to the hilt.
  17. Yeah... I've probally done the most foot work trying to get some ARP studs made. I dropped the ball though when it was $600 for a set, half of that being 'custom' done. Even with 10 people buying a set, only got down the $400 range. Still to exspensive for 98% of the people here. MLS? Similar to a Cometic HG? I thought someone was looking into those, but they also had a ridicolous price tag ($400+)
  18. Copper doesn't do this: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2774&sort=1&cat=500&page=2 It just doesn't seal anything.
  19. Only motor I blew up due to boost was on the stock turbo at 12psi.
  20. Suck. Plain and simple. I've tried 3 times with these gaskets, on the same engine. I can't get them to seal right. Another $180 blown on trying to make a 'strong' engine. History: Blew 2 sets of 'oe' headgaskets. BAD. (ya boost!) Ordered fancy copper head gaskets... nearly $200 in cost, with the special spray sealer. Have heads faced. Assemble engine per HG manufacturers instructions. Use brand new head bolts. Engine doesn't hold compression. Runs, but bad... log <50 miles. Take apart, and reassemble. Over torque to 60ft/lbs. Engine runs like poo... oh wait.. improperly installed rings, causing blow by, and loss of compression! Thanks guys i paid $800 for short block for. Re-ringed block, reinstalled head gaskets, over torque to 60ft/lbs again. Spend weeks tuning it, timing it. Getting it just right. Nearly 500 miles on motor. Oh, whats that... an oil leak? Seems to be pretty big. Oil pump? no, cam cases? no, Head gaskets? hell yes! Well... using a little oil is negligable. Car still runs strong. HOurs later... why do i have to flog the car to start from a stop? Oh... its like driving a car with low/no compression. Car is now engine less. Engine lies in pieces in the garage. OE head gaskets going in. In summation, the only thing I DID NOT try was to get both the block, and the heads mirror polished. Maybe thats the million dollar secret? Atleast they'll look good hanging on my wall... or maybe yours! check my thread: Here
  21. Correction Brian, Both Avatars and Signatures are under scrutiny. The USMB is a privately owned forum, about Subaru's. We, as Mods, have been appointed (volunteered), to help keep things running smoothly. Suprisingly... things start to run rough when politics, religion, and sex... among other things are thrown into the Subaru mix. We volunteers work hard to keep the majority happy, to keep the board Subaru oriented. Anyways.. I'm late for dinner. Politics and Religion lead to conflict (history proven). The mods are tired of putting out these conflicts. Thanks for being a class act Vickaroo!
