  1. I never said I wasn't playing anymore... I just said I can't afford it Will, I can't wait to be wow'd by what heights you take your RX to. And I don't mean at all for my remarks to sound discouraging. Cheesy as it sounds... only you have to think of it as the Ultimate RX for it to be one. The rest of us really don't matter. Keep up the good fight, and make sometime to drive out to the west coast to visit sometime. Shots will be on me.
  2. Ultimate is in the eye of the beholder Will. I have to say, it would be an ultimate RX if it had stock engine and actually produced power and lasted more than 10,000 miles. I can't afford to play the EA82T game anymore. Especially when EJ20's are getting so damn cheap.
  3. I would reccomend talking to other locals that like to go offroading... try to find the local jeep club chapter, or toyota club. Even though most of these clubs are the beer in one hand, wheel in the other type... they tend to still know where the OK spots are to go, and usually also know the spots NOT to go. If you don't know, don't do it. Its really not worth the risk. IF you trespass on federal or state land... you can be issued tickets, have your vehicle impounded, etc... The officer usually will approach the truck with the gun ready, and yell at you to put your hands up, then drop the keys on the ground, then get out. Its not a fun experience. If you trespass on private land you could wind up with a gun pointed at you as well. That would be even less fun. Don't bypass gates, don't open gates, don't leave established trails, tread lightly, pack it in, pack it out (this includes gun shells!! stop shooting the signs) Any oregon locals want to chime in on good LEGAL places to go? The USMB cannot and will not condone offroading illegally. Just like street racing, it is taken very seriously and will end up with a closed and deleted thread. On that note, I'm very relieved to read some of the good answers here (MorganM, numbchux). If I see it take a turn for the worse, I will delete it.
  4. Zap... I used a dremel tool with cutoff disc's to trim one of my Project 1 buddies bumper cover to fit his FMIC.
  5. My wagon is dent and rust free! Seriously... my wagon is a rust free washington car and I have some body modifications done by a pretty reputable shop, Mother Nature... When I go to shows, I usually list one of my body mods as: Custom Body Work by Mother Nature.
  6. Pretty much right under the pedals on the drivers side.
  7. Gary... If you were to run this in a FI setup, I would be wary... however you indicated you would be running it NA. My question is how exactly? MPFI system from an XT? The turbo heads have a dual intake port, the normal carb'd/spfi heads have a single intake port on each head. So... turbo heads means you need to use a turbo intake manifold... or a spider manifold from a MPFI XT. Then what would you run for a computer? Best bet would be a MPFI XT ecu... but a normal turbo ecu may work ok. Now... the MPFI XT seems to go fairly well... but its at 9.5:1 or so. Dropping down in compression is only going to neuter the engine.
  8. Atleast I didn't have to burn up another clutch getting you out of mud. You still owe me Oh yeah... come back!!!
  9. Sweet. I too am very skeptical of the phantom grip... wise choice!
  10. I encountered a similar problem. However, I ripped all three of the unibody nuts out of the driver side plate. My first fix was to try and weld the nuts back in (thanks Dr. RX) However the unibody sheet metal is far to thin, and in daily driving (about a week later) it ripped back out. I then contacted a buddy who worked at a fabrication shop. We drilled the back 2 holes through the unibody to the cabin area. We used large (3"-4" dia.) 1/2" thick aluminium washers in the cabin, and used ready rod (1/2" threaded rod) and nuts to bolt it back together. The front hole we cut an access hole into the frame rail and put another aluminium washer in there, with more ready rod through the lift block. That was 2 years ago. I've retightened them 4-5 times since then, but really only a 1/4 turn at best... so its holding pretty strong. At this same time, we also through bolted several different locations. The passenger side main radius rod plate bolt (the one the trans. cross member sits on) and then the main bolts for the rear subframe. We used the same technic described above... drill through the unibody, shove ready rod up, use a huge washer on the top to distribute load, and tighten as hard as you can. Good luck!
  11. My brat has an aftermarket antenna bolted to the passenger side A-Pillar. I'm not completely sold on the look... but it gets great reception. I'll see if I can't remember to snap a picture of it.

I have a 5spd fulltime 4wd s/r tranny apart in my garage... if I could get some EJ parts I could compare and see what may work...
  13. Awesome Samo. Let me know if you need any help working on your wagon. I have 2 wagon lifts to my credit (mine and subafly's), and I can't even begin to tell how many tranny's i've helped swap. D/R into subafly's New trans in my brat 3 different trans in my roomates wagon... after he swapped it to 5spd from auto. Are you getting a D/R with the posi in the front?? I'm interested in how that feels (street, gravel, etc...)
  14. Great work Samo!! This could also be used a template for those looking to convert to 6 lug, or redrill rims to fit... This should definately be archived.
  15. John may take offense if you directly copied his design... however i'm sure if its not identical to his you won't have a problem at all. I still need a ride in this beast!
  16. I've gotten 450cc DSM blue top injectors to physically fit... its way easy. However.. .they are high impedance, and stock is low. So no luck driving them with the stock system.
  17. Noah, you damn well know that I do not have a trailer. Jeez.
  18. Semi Gloss yellow with clearcoat with a semi-gloss engine enamal black hood. I'm totally in love with the semi-gloss engine enamel black. The flat ends up too grey, and the gloss is just ick... but the semi gloss... Hotness. Also would you consider having the Yellow Maaco'd? Might end up with a better product than just spray paint from the can. But if you are good with the can, go with it I personally like the first pic better with the yellow all the way down the doors, and the black graphics. However, throw some yellow graphics on over the black to let me see what they look like. I bet that would be pretty hot too. Let me know if you need some hot hot vinyl made, i'm your man. I'll even install it SAMO, have you considered showing your car? I know you are somewhat involved with some show car/s. I'll be at Global representing with some members of Project One.
  19. Ed, what station did this occur at? Hopefully not the Lynnwood one. I'm going to take my new Brat through soon, and thats the closest one to me.
  20. As always Monica and I had a fine time. Even got a replacement power steering pump for my RX. The garage looks gorgeous, I'm envious of it.
