  1. Got some prices... $90 for the set. Steel cylinder rings are $15 a piece extra. This potentially makes the gasket a one use only... Complete set w/rings for $150 + sealant (I think its $15).
  2. Per head there are: 4 bolts x 118.5mm long 9 bolts x 132.5mm long All thread pitch M11x1.25
  3. The car ran for about 80 miles with the drivers side cam off one tooth. Disty timing was set to 23 degrees off of cylinder 1. Now, while I never heard detanation during this period, its probable that damage was still done then. Hopefully the machine shop can check the block for trueness and true it without splitting the block. I will also have the heads true'd again, or atleast checked.
  4. .043... with the steel cylinder rings? or without?
  5. What thickness should I run?? With or without the the steel oring around the cylinder??
  6. Tonight we pulled the engine and tore it down. Massive HG failure on the drivers side, both cylinders were like this one: So... what do you think cause that? Just the 10psi of boost? I believe copper head gaskets are needed, your thoughts? Improper torque of headbolts? Maybe I need studs... Slight surface rust, after only 4 days! What should I do? Are my brand new rings hosed?
  7. Has anybody on here gotten, or looked into getting ARP head studs?? I'm wondering what sizes I would need to get... what thread pitch, lengths, etc...
  8. rs-autosport.com also check glensgarage.com and the forum garner linked...
  9. I'm in for either day. No tree permit for me though. ::crosses fingers and hopes wagon will hold together until then::
  10. I feel like i'm cheating... but if this wasn't available I wouldn't be undertaking this project ever. $300 for an assembled megasquirt, labeled harness wires, and connecter seems like a decent price. Glad to hear yours is coming along... I still need to get a ride in that bad boy!! PM enroute... Brad... I bet megasquirt would help, then again, i'm no expert either!
  11. I'm starting to get serious about assembling a megasquirt with EDIS. Basically I need to make sure I have everything on my shopping list. I'm going to go with RS-autosports.com's Megasquirt kit. - Comes preassembled, configred for MS-EDIS, also has a labeled wiring harness, connector, etc... From glensgarage.com i'm getting the relay board components. From Napa i'm getting: - 32-1 sensor ring - VR Sensor From Junkyard i'm getting: - EDIS control module - EDIS Coil Pack - Plug wires?? (do i need these?) Now for my questions: - Do the stock subaru sensors work? Or do I need to get some new sensors. ie coolant temp, tps, etc... - What am I missing from my shopping list? Any news on getting pulleys and/or trigger wheel adapters made up??
  12. What is the source for copper HG's? I can't seem to remember. Also... what sealant am I to use?
  13. PeterD... You need to PM Subafly. He's from Marysville, but I know he's going to EWU now. He doesn't have his beast of a wagon there though. I'm sure he'd love to meet more subaru nuts!
  14. I'll keep my chin up! ON the HG issue... it is a good probability it is that. Studs will be in order for sure. I was so close to doing them last time, but I didn't want to wait, nor spend the money. Calebz was showing me those timeserts. Those are badass... yet more money to spend.
  15. This engine was run for quite some time while only on stock boost and not beat on. I followed the directions of the guys that built my block. Put it together, put it in, and drive it. After asking around I got lots of different break in procedures. Varying from what I read above, to the whole break it in like a chevy 350 route. As of now, the engine is still in the car, and diagnoses has really yet to begin. I expect to start on that next week. I'm going to do these things: 1. Check spark plugs 2. Check timing belts 3. Compression check I can forsee nothing but bad horrible things. In my mind, I probally lost a chunk of piston, cylinder wall, or rings. 3 months ago I dropped $800 on this brand new block. If the block wasn't able to take modest boost from a TD04, perhaps Fuji was right in abandoning the EA series engines.
  16. 7 Mile Is pretty cool. My girlfriends parents live in 9 mile, about 2 miles away. I went and wheeled there a couple times while staying with them, its fun!
  17. The shaft that goes through the hub is very different. It is also different than the impreza's axles. The trans side has the same number of splines as turbo trans's... as well as impreza axles. The XT6 axles are a good bit larger than stock, so are Impreza's. Simple formula: Use axles from the same car as the hub.
  18. At this point i've learned screaming doesn't help me any. Freeze plugs... hmmm, good thought.
  19. Alright, so for the longest time the RX has been down. Either rebuilding the engine or working on brake stuff. I would like to say, that I have a complete working rear ebrake. Corky helped me finalize the bracketry on Sunday. I did this so I could run larger front brakes... JDM WRX brakes (only 2 pots). The rear brakes are from a 1980 Supra. Pictures and demonstrations will come in another post at a later date... Now that I have your attention, riddle me this: Drove the car on sunday, just felt off. Boggy under boost till 3500, then it would open it up. The car was still incredibly quick. I checked and found the driver side timing belt to be one tooth off. Tonight, Danbob99 and I fixed the timing belt and went for a drive. The car was pretty quick. It was running just off the tdo4 wastegate and stock boost solenoid ~ 7psi. We stopped and through in the MBC. It had already been set, and was pushing ~10psi. The car hauled balls. It was amazing. Until... we heard a pop. We heard a *pop* I immediately got off the go pedal, engine died. Coasted to the service station down the hill. While coasting I notice liquid between the front left fender and hood coming out. At the service station, we observed a couple of things: A. Radiator cap blown off, water everywhere. B. Radiator was cold to touch, engine was lukewarm at best (before the pop, it had be operating in the right range, about quarter gauge). C. Engine wouldn't start, just turn over and over. D. After cranking engine, what little coolant was in the overflow would bubble. E. Oil appears clear and new, no water, kinda smells like exhaust. F. Crank engine with oil cap off, exhaust smelling smoke comes out. So... what could it be? I haven't torn into it yet. I just got it home.
  20. If I can get 2 for less than $100... hopefully more like $60, i'd be way in.
  21. I did use a piece of aluminium on the inside as a sort of washer plate. Its all under the carpet and discreet. The front of my skids are not countersunk or anything. I've thought about modifying it, but so far, hasn't proven to be a problem.
  22. Eric, we will be able to host them. I know on my site, i ran into an issue of running out of space, so I reduced the size/quality of pics. That gave me about 1/3rd more room. I'm sure a lot of your pictures aren't as big and high quality as mine were, so I think we'll be ok. Ken, I'm going to get into contact with the hosting provider and see what it would cost to bump up the size to what I have... or look over any other options. Right now we are getting a pretty good deal, since i'm getting 50% off the cost of hosting because of my affiliation with another board. I pay $11.95 collectively for both sites a month.
  23. I'll definately need to setup the gallery software on it, as there is no other effecient way to host a lot of pictures. It needs to be known also, that MB size of the Hatchpatrol site is about half what my site is. They are hosted on the same platform. We will have to be stingy about what photo's to put up, unless someone wants to foot the bill to upgrade the site to a bigger hosting size. Eric, i'll be in touch.
