  1. HAYY GUYS!@!! LOOK AT MEEE!!! MY SARCASM DETECTOR IS BROKEN WHEEEEEE!@!1! Yeah... i tend to over react. Especially when the sarcasm detector is out of batteries.
  2. Yes, it would be the most ideal to put that type of trans in. However, we have some "ideas" we are going to do that should make this a good fit.
  3. Brad, the rims are 2.5rs rims. The stats are: 16x7 53+ offset 16.5lbs 205/55 R16 tires I think its mainly due to the larger sidewall tire i'm running. And my back end sits close the height yours does. Rob, Yes the car has rear calipers. They are those red things :-P And yes, they are the calipers that are staying on the car. Why would I paint parts i'm not gonna use? :-P
  4. Rubbing on the inside of the wheel well. And, I think it will look good.
  5. Flow: As far as insurance goes.. Its "stock" and liability only. If I had to pay for full coverage or special coverage insurance, I wouldn't be able to do all this stuf to it. Hopefully in the next year or so my insurance rate should be dropping, I may switch to full coverage at that time.
  6. Yes, it could be a FT4eat. We didn't ask the year. Given that all the panels matched interior wise, it could be stock. I am still of the mind that RX are manuals, and thats that
  7. KYB GR2 stock replacements with a set of ebay coilovers on them. Bought coilovers for a 91+ subaru. *edit* Not exactly the same as mine, but these should work: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7928186445&category=33582 I'm currently trying to source a set of coilovers for a 2001+ Legacy. They use front strut connections like Impreza's (and xt6's) but use a eyelet connecton on the back like our cars. See this link for some coilovers for the current Legacy GT. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2848 So pretty! With adjustable height and dampening. But with a 3K price tag, a little out of reach. Also, hard to find in the US. Hopefully with the new GT, parts like these will come more available and cheaper here in the US.
  8. Not soon after getting the engine all back together and making it run like a scalded dog (aside from the fuel cut) I parked it again. Put it up on its 4 favorite jackstands and started to have fun. Some goodies awaiting to go on the front: A shot of the my rear coilover setup: And a shot of the wheel spacers i'm putting on: More detailed pics to come when project is done...
  9. Awhile back I participated in the Global Import Car Show in Tacoma, WA. While I didn't place, all 3 subaru awards went to my buddies (2 STi's, 1 WRX). Syphon (Jay), Danbob99 (Dan) and I decided to leave the Tacoma Dome in search of food. What we saw initially excited us. Then we looked behind it... At this point, we're feeling pretty bad. Not sure what kind of person would do this. We were even more appalled by what we saw on the inside. The "kid" saw us poking around his car and approached us. Apparently he bought it with the tranny swap. He added the wing. And he wouldn't sell the ground effects kit to Dan for $100. He did offer the car to us for $2000.
  10. overboost.com Use the cheaper rubber if its not going to be pressurized (ie intake).
  11. I just happen to have a 200sx SER in my driveway. This morning before work I pulled the wheel off and slid the caliper out. I test fitted a rear caliper I had laying around off my RX. Fit fine. The hardest part of this will be running the lines. Makes it even harder if you are trying to maintain a stock appearance and trying to use the stock ebrake handle and pulling system. I bet the reason the guy corky knows hasn't talked about it yet is cause he can't figure how to rig the lines...
  12. I still haven't gotten to the dyno yet. SOmething about blowing a motor and redoing the suspension and brakes... I'm actually waiting till I have all the stuff together before I dyno. In the mean time i'm trying to save what cash I can. Dyno+tune is going to be in the $500 range or so. I may take my car to Rallitek and have it done, or talk to the guys at PDXtuning. But those 2 options are in portland, and i'm in seattle.
  13. I'm currently running EJ axles on the front of my RX for my 5 lug conversion. I know this works because my tranny is a turbo. For the d/r 5spd you would need to have the trans side cup portion of an ea82 nonturbo axle put on an EJ axle. SubaruStyles did something similar to this in his 5-lug conversion. Only it was XT6 axles instead of EJ axles. cvaxles.com should be able to do this for ya!
  14. Corky Bell's "maximum Turbocharging" or something to that effect. I have it, its a good read, you can borrow it.
  15. XT6 injectors look to be of the modern press in rail type, rather than the hose feed type our antique engines are running. I do believe this is the first time someone has openly compaired them and showed them to us. Thanks a bunch! Now, it seems obvious to me that the injectors are not the same, thus we cannot derive any similarities to function from the XT6. I have an extra set or 2 of injectors. If I had the $$ I'd send them in. I'll see what I can do. As soon as the current project is done, i'll install the HKS FCD and see if that will lift the fuel cut. I'd do it now, but the current project renders the car undrivable. As much as I want megasquirt, if I can make it work with pieces I already have $$ into it may be worth it.
  16. Kevin... What version of the SAFC do you have? I have the first generation of the blue screen/silver body. Looks identical to the modern AVCR's. My settings were as follows: Sensor Type: MAF Car Select: 4 Cyl. Throttle - down arrow. These are the only settings I changed to get it to work on my car. If you need any other settings, let me know where to look and I'll get them. The FCD in that link I abandoned because it requires a 5 volt referance. Which I couldn't find on our cars. I have since picked up an HKS FCD type STD. I haven't installed it, i'm going to put it after the SAFC, but before the stock ECU on the MAF signal line. Edit: Kevin, how much did the RC engineering testing cost? I wonder if they could coax a bit more out of our injectors...
  17. extra fuel won't be a problem cause in 87+ cars (hotwire style) you'll be bouncing of the fuel cut. Side note, I use/used and SAFC with decent results. Yet again, i'll reinterate the fuel cut will be hit. Whether the fuel is there or not if the ECU doesn't like it, you aren't playing.
  18. $300 Came jetted for the car with the adapter. My local auto parts store (Bow wow auto) is a VW bug place. THey happened to have it on the shelf.
  19. Caboobaroo, read this for inspiration: http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/dragcar1.htm Have fun, and Get er dun!
  20. I *had* a thing for leather too, but the leather shop wouldn't hire me. Oh well, you gotta be into what you do
  21. Actually, I work at the sign shop thats right there. Its in the same strip mall.
  22. Its usually there between 9am and 5pm Monday through friday. IF not it, the RX, and if not the RX, my mom's crappy escort wagon.
  23. Our injectors (ea82's) are of a hose feed type. Modern EJ injectors are of an o-ring seal type. The injectors may fit in the manifold, but the stock fuel rail will not be able to attach to the EJ injectors. Its possible to fabricate some new fuel rails (I did) however in order to make them the O-ring style will require some good manufacturing abilities. Shadow is in the process of designing and manufacturing some rails, but it will be sometime before they are available I think. Do a search to find out more on that. Also, I believe I am the only person on the board currently running an SAFC on a EA82. As it is, I'm at the ragged limits of it. I will be megasquirting my ride soon. For just increasing boost, with light exhaust and intake mods, the SAFC was able to handle the changes relatively well. But it is by no means as good as a "standalone ecu." How the SAFC works is it takes the MAF signal and modifies it. Either increasing or decreasing the voltage to get the desired results. However, in 87+ cars with the hotwire MAF, this signal also triggers the fuel cut. So, its possible that to use the SAFC to change the signal too much, and hit fuel cut at stupid times. This is the reason i'm getting rid of the SAFC. Because its very hard to get any increase in fuel without activating the fuel cut. To sum it up: Legacy Injectors: New fuel rails required, if doing this much, might go all out and get universal Bosch injectors for what flow rate you need. SAFC: For more boost/intake/IC, will be OK. Its not the cure all. You will still hit fuel cut. If your thinking of a bigger turbo, forget even bothering with it, go straight to megasquirt.
