Engine Reattachment? (pic)
cmiller replied to DirtyMech's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just used a pencil with a socket the size of the center of the flywheel to line it up, like 8mm 3/8 dirve or something close. If not then I know the tool itself is not too much to purchase. Autozone has a tool rental deal too thats not so bad. -
I like this idea. less nose to drag in the dirt on climbs. simple with room for a winch.

New Subaru Owner Questions
cmiller replied to toadleyb's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Your engine is a SPFI EA82, Single Point Fuel Injection thats what came stock in my car (see description at bottom). Sounds like an adjustment with your clutch or the return spring. Check the hillholder cable, sometimes if its too tight the clutch pedal will be out of adjustment or feel like a turd. Thats where I would start. Congrats on the Subaru and welcome! -
Looks like a good time! Good pics and articulation! a banana

Could also use that to roast hot dogs or marshmellows... mmmm exhaust marshmellows....

Looks really cool. I like the light set up on there!

Latest mod.... at LEAST 50hp :)
cmiller replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I heard that if you get the pin stripe tape from GI Joes and run it on top front to back, along with the steering wheel cover with flames, it ads almost 25 more HP!! -
WOW what beautiful country! That looks like it was a fun trip! Great pitures:)

I'll see if I can get over there for ya. I am super busy with my last year(finally) of college and my Videography business. But if I can get a bunch you can just have em. I'll PM later with details.

Some newb questions
cmiller replied to MoscowSubaruDude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
For lifts check out http://www.alliedarmament.com, referred to as AA, its what I am using. So for so good! Really well made with constant accessories being researched, fast shipping and good service! Very important to my decision. Their kit is bolt on, done in an afternoon. There are quite a few others out there that from what I've heard seem to be compareable, but I just have experience with AA. Do a search for lift kits and you will find a wealth of information and discussion on the different ones. I know that AA is putting together a Christmas group buy at a discount so keep an eye out for that. There is allready a thread for it here.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=44599 There are several different kinds of 4WD that Subaru made, I'll just name a few but hopefully someone else will have a complete list. I don't know much about the '70's models but as far a the '80's there was a dual range 4WD transmission abbreviated D/R4WD with a good low range! Some models I think the Gl-10's had a LSD rear differential or Limited Slip Differential on them as an option with a 3.7 gear ratio. then later a push button 4WD only high range done with a vaccume hose system on most of the Loyales etc... There was also a full time 4WD on models like the RX and I think the XT(not sure though) its closer to the all wheel drive AWD system that Subaru has today. C'mon help me out here guys!! Anyway I'm sure more people will pipe in here and if not just use the search option for anything. But as always don't hesitate to ask. There are so many people on here with years of experience with any kind of Subaru. That's why its the ULTIMATE Subaru Message Board! Good luck and welcome to the board! -
There is a wrecked Rio Red Legacy turbo sedan at the local yard here. It looks exactly like yours, Just thought to mention it.

cmiller replied to cmiller's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The yard here has a 4WD auto GL-10 with a 3.7 LSD on it. But they want too much for it. -
