My GL-10 Needs a Roll-Cage *nods*
NuclearBacon replied to NuclearBacon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
awesome, will do -
Ok so check this out.... I was coming home tonight, driving my newly resurected GL10, and all of a sudden i look down and my digital temp gauge is RED. like top bar red! i FREAK out, kill the car and let it roll to a stop.... i sit for a moment, turn my headlights off, and turn the key to the on position... the temp gauge is at the normal level... not thinking much of how the car COOLED OFF IN 3 SECONDS... i turn the key, starts beautifully *hehe* turn on my headlights and proceed the half mile home *my commute right now is 1.2 miles* within seconds BOOM! up to red again!!! AHHH!!!!! i kill it again. lol. i make it home, starting and stopping the engine... and head out using my stupid honda.... when i come back home again to diagnose the subaru, i get in it, and start messing around. finally i figure out that when the car is sitting idling... no headlights on, it registers perfect operating temp... when i turn the headlights on... 3 seconds later its RED... turn them off... BOOM back to normal.. and we're not talking like slowly climbing up and down.. it goes from 5 bars to RED back to 5. i then turned the engine off, and turned it to the ON position. got my temp reading, then turned the headlights on *with no engine running* and the gauge jumped 3 bars. so! how wierd is that! i looked in the FSM i have for my 87, and saw that it reads resistance to work... and on the analog gauge there is a type of voltage regulator so when the voltage changes in the car *because it does with design, if fans are turned on , or whatever* the temp gauge wont read anything different.... SO! what do i fix? is it a bad ground? if so, which ground is it? i'll scan a picture of all the grounds on the car if needed. is it... a bad temp sending unit?? is it the gauge? does the whole digi dash need replacing?! any ideas would be awesome. and i know ... i know! install a regular temp gauge. i will.. but i'd like to take this car somewhere and not be FREAKING out... or not ignoring the gauge. *scared* help! thanks!

Crafty Ideas on the LSD Mount... (PICS)
NuclearBacon replied to NuclearBacon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So I actually cut the bolt off with a hacksaw while everything was still attached (the bracket, but not the shifter/linkage) and got a new bolt and bushings... then! i drilled out the bracket so the hole was the same size on both sides, then drilled a hole in the firewall by the gas pedal and fed the bolt in through there... shifting is SUPER clean, and now if i need to replace the bushings, the bolt comes out in less then 5 minutes. theres a plastic baffle, then the carpet that completly conceils the hole i made.. that and some trusty duct tape about 1 square inch its the hole subaru forgot!!! -
SO!! since AllWheelsDriven.Net wont return my emails, i will open it to anyone on here for suggestions!! i need a professionally welded rollcage that meets with 2006 Rally America Specs, fit into a 1987 GL-10 Sedan. Anything can and will be removed for installation to save money, but if dash ect. need to be in for install, it will be left in. I read that it needs to have a certificate? or something for it to be legit.. maybe this is just FIA certification for the WRC. not sure. SO! Lead me!!! This will be my ticket into rallying FINALLY!! its been almost a year since this all started... good ol Doug... if you havent read how this car was aquired.. its an interesting read (at least i think so... and i wrote it, so i have no say) : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38798 so know someone? know a business on the west coast? i'll drive as far as portland...maybe a bit further if need be... let me know if you know anyone, anything, or... yeah! thanks!

see i totally agree... with the WRC2015 one... (as in i'll be in WRC in 2015 BWAHAHAHA) after 2015, it would suck. lol so thats a very valid point i was also thinking about. i could also get it cuz it would be cool, and when i got a new car, i could just put it on the wall... hehe, memories *sings* GOOD POINT! thanks!

Aftermarket cruise in 90 Loyale?
NuclearBacon replied to mbrickell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
aftermarket cruise control is only as good as the wrencher that puts it in. i've installed 3 different aftermarket cruise controls.. and all three worked great, all different brands. they're kind of a pain... but just take your time, and they'll be awesome. *thumbs up* Luigi -
Anyone ever replaced their key's battery??
NuclearBacon replied to Numbchux's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
anyone know where a brotha could pick up one of these oem keys?! i ordered two from the subaru dealer, and they gave me these chrome ones. i'll post a pic in a bit, but i would love to get one of those key light models. PM me if you know!!! thanks! -
ok!! hello everyone! so check this out. i ran all the plates you gave me.. and these were the ones still available (and i'll throw a * next to the ones i REALLY like): GRVL4ME* 4x4RALY* 4X4_ROO* SUBYRLY TRBORLY DRTLUVR* RALIMAN RLYSTUD RLYPIMP* <--- i would laugh so hard if the cali DMV said "Sure! you can have that!! no prob!" NUKEBCN MADSUBE ALLRALY ALLRALI BXRPOWR* AWDFURY 1BDGL10* BADGL10* RLYDRTY WRCGL10* DRTSUBY* and these are the ones from before (just to have them all on one page, and the first 5 are basically my top 5 without looking at the newer ones above): _EA82T_ * OLDSOOB* WRC2015* SWRT4ME* <--Subaru world Rally Team I*RALLI* *2RALLI* SUBDUDE GORALLI* I_RALLI 4RALLY2 <---42 for all you HGG Fans ORALLYO I*WRC* WRCSOON RALLYGD <--Rally God I*SWRT* RALLIT RALLYT 06RALLY <--when i started 2006 05RALLY <--When i bought the car WRC_GOD RALLI_X OLD_AWD* so i've got a crazy chore in-front of me... but check this out.. i'm gunna put them all together on one pic, that way i can see which i like.... and which you like!!! this is the point of this whole thing. i want a situation where maybe someone who owns a soob, someone from this group, or someone that is a fan of subaru's to go "HAHAHA YESS!!" both at the rally, and on the street. so i would like you to pick out of all of these... which YOU like the most!!! i'll post again in a bit and show you which i like the best. your input is super important! hehehe heres a dancing bannana to intice you... and seduce you to the correctness yup, i said seduce thanks for the help!! West Coast Subaru Show #8 Hat thread
NuclearBacon replied to Turbone's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
ditto. i've got my SWRT fanclub hat, and the american version from LLbean. the LLBEAN one sucks.. but a flexfit would be BEYOND badass.. i'd pay up to 35 bucks for one of those. i like both the wreath *gives it a old school feel* and without.. yeah lotta help huh. what about if we were to talk to a dealership, and see if they could hook us up with the TM laws? or.. cant we say like on a tag inside or something (i know the tag would be difficult) like the whole speil "Subaru emblems and body designs are registered properties of fuji heavy industries LTD and used under licence by FHI LTD" or something? what if we were to like.. put each hat in a bag, and on the bag state "subaru and the stars logo is property of FHI LTD" would that take care of the copywrite? or.. could you sell them and a zero profit? i know that would suck, but then no one is making money.... and it might for-go FHI coming and SLAYING US ALL! i wonder if even a simple letter to FHI would go a long way. when i wrote to subaru off of www.subaru.com down in the "contact us" spot, they were super cool , and quick with responses. i'm going to email them... just for grins, and see what kind of response i'll get. actually i'll wait until i hear from everyone, maybe you dont want me doing that, if its cool though, let me know, and i'll burn off a professional email. <---wants to help, can you tell? ive got the FSM for the 87 GL series.. and there is a huge diagram on the 4WD dual range linkages and stuff if you want me to scan it and post, send me a pm and i'll do it! Luigi

yeah i'm going to agree. My knock sensor wire actually had a short in it somewhere, so i pulled the wire out of the plug and traced it back through the two engine harness plugs ect.. and the just ran a wire directly from the computer, through the firewall, and spliced it to the single wire on the knock sensor. worked perfectly.
