83 Brat Turbo Update
Jerry DeMoss replied to XT6 Magic's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think it is funny to see rust from the west coast area compared to the stuff the east coasters can fix up. I grew up around the salt water in Alaska and rust was prevalent, you can fix it properly if you just take your time. POR-15 is where its at with rust. -

Mick if you plan on keeping the ea71 and may want a dual carb setup for it keep me in mind. I have a good lead on one right now. -

Downdraft Weber conversion
Jerry DeMoss replied to RMVR53's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ej22 carb conversions are doable. There is a bit more info for you on that sort of thing on some of the homebuilt light aircraft boards you may want to check. -

Jerry DeMoss replied to killshot_kustom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Quite a few of the aircraft guys with subie swaps powder coat their blocks. I don't see any reason not to paint it with your favorite high temp paint. -
'79 GL 4x4 - issues
Jerry DeMoss replied to GorgeSuby's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Pretty straight forward on those cars. Look for rust in the fenders ect. Also check the carb for any leaky seals but that is to be expected a bit for a near 30 year old car. The windshield can be cleaned with tolulene.(Not sure if I spelled that right.) -
Optimal Exhaust on 1800 motor
Jerry DeMoss replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
For power in that rpm range I would say 2.25" to 2.5" or 60-65mm pipe diameter. My brother and I put a full 2.5" exhaust from the turbo back on out ea81t coupe and that is about the right rpm level that we got as well. -
Monster Loyale spotted in Evergreen, CO
Jerry DeMoss replied to rpiereck's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Crikey! I will have to look for that one in my travels! -
Ya Alaska dude! What plate is that on your ea82 wagon? Never saw that one when I lived up there.

Go for the grippy act clutch for the justy and also get your cam reground by delta for a torque grind. That sould be a start. Or start by adding some really cool stickers cause they add 10hp each!

Something may have popped loose inside your instrument display for your odometer. I believe it is gear driven off of the speedo shaft. You may be better off replacing your dash piece.

I have made several sets out of the cut to size v8 kit from msd. They are 8.5mm and so far they have been terrific. If you want me to make you a set just let me know.

I was curious if there are any shift linkage bushings available from superpro or anything similar? Interested to see if anyone out there has made their shifter on their 5spd d/r trans feel rally car tight?
