  1. I wonder if it is an external cause (outside of the dash unit) that is making these burn up? Maybe needs a better inline voltage regulator or something? Just a thought.
  2. Looks like a smaller fmic in the tmic spot. Very fun looking car.
  3. The cam grind 272/260 from delta seems pretty potent. I recently went with that in the recent ea81t build for the '84 coupe, along with ported intake and heads and ram valve springs. Fun little engines.
  4. You will be loving your weber shortly. It is on its way to you.
  5. That is a very slick looking brumby! Looks as if it came that way with the swap in it.
  6. Cut some more sheet metal rust spots. Also I noticed you were doing a mockup of driving the car or you were recently taking a "stool" sample within your car. I am sick I know. Good work so far.
  7. The weber swap would be a good idea for you. Search weber swaps for ea81's and you should come up with some good info. Also look on the usrm and there should be some good stuff there too.
  8. Very interesting indeed. Another trick I learned from back in my rubber band airplane days is that glycerin type hand soap help preserve rubber as well as make it more pliable. Not sure if that tip will help you any. Sounds like a very cool in depth project for sure. Glad you are taking you time and getting it right.
  9. Looks cool! Looks like a ea63 to me from the position of the dipstick tube and the oil filler pipe, and the water pump ect. I like that supercharger setup with the carb sitting up on top.
  10. Ya you could adapt it to the ea81t,but you would need to make up some mounting bosses on the heads for the injectors.
  11. air suction valve I have replaced the y pipe on my ea81 hatch with one off of a ea82 carb car. Fit on just fine. The only thing is that you will have to modify the hanger bracket to attach it to your car on the underside by the donut gasket.
  12. I think it is the bearings for the a/c clutch. You will probly be best off finding another compressor at the yards.
  13. That special ea81 usually came with the dual hitachi carbs in the subies outside of the united states. The ea81 heads on that motor have swapped ports. Meaning the exhaust valve is where the intake valve usually sits on the standard ea81 head for a much better flowing head. The heads usually are called dual port heads which is really ill named when they are essentially a siamese port head. The only place where I have seen these heads available is from some of the homebuilt aircraft shops that deal with subaru engines. A good place to start would be with stratus aircraft co. They are located in oregon I believe. That is the same place I bought couple of my dual carb intakes from. Just a side note if you are planning to build a jdm spec ea81 you will need to make sure and get the: heads, pushrods and rocker shafts, and cam as the standard ea81 parts are quite a bit different than that one.
  14. I like the gold rims along with a well cared for suby! Welcome.
  15. Wow I am amazed just how monsterous that weber is compared to your stock carb. That stock one looks puny! If you are putting that on the ff-1 then it will really sing in the upper rpm band for sure!
  16. I am sorry but I don't understand what you are saying?
  17. Very cool. I am at about the same point right now with my '92 turbo legacy. The body is rough and needs the front fenders and bumper replaced. They are fun cars indeed. My 2,000th post!!!!! Yay.
  18. I like it! I think it looks like a great brumby! The weber and accel coil are good add ons.
  19. I don't agree at all. There are several things that should get done while you are getting your engine rebuilt if you plan on getting a few extra ponies out of the ea81's. First thing is try and find some pistons from a ea71 or ea82 spfi block that are in good shape and that will bump your compression a bit from that alone. Also send your cam to deltacam to get it reground to the type of style driving you are intending the car for that will be a good help. Also get your heads decked down .020" when rebuilding the motor also and those three things as a whole will help the engine out quite a bit. Then from there you should put a weber on there and you should be set for some fun! Gotta love the pushrod motors.
