What's wrong with Fram oil filters??
Jerry DeMoss replied to TheLoyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have had good luck with purolator, wix, oem,k&n. Lately I have been using k&n by choice. Mostly because of my slight ocd with changing oil and over engineering by k&n as stated by someone before.I use that filter along with synthetic oil and seems to be a great combo. In the past I have used fram and I have had bits of the filter come apart.(paper filtering element) Also I have had trouble with the rubber seal at the base being not up to par with the other filters mentioned. -

Been a while since I have been through butte or boseman. Both of those towns are nice. -
I have the heads off of that engine that you speak of. EJ20H is what it is. I going to be using those heads on a ej22t block that I have. The tt setup isn't worth the trouble of messing with. You are better off taking that engine and coverting it over to a single turbo like a td04 or a vf39.That would be pretty fun to run in an old ea car. There are a few guys on this site that have done so.
-
Ya I know you could do it. Just adapt some lines to fit the stock ones off of a ej car to your ea car. You did a motor swap I think you can tackle this job. Are you going to convert it to r134 at the same time?

Colorado: Caravan/Carpool to WCSS9??
Jerry DeMoss replied to ShawnW's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I think that they mean after a long day in the xt6 street sweeper you can get rather sweaty from all that hard work. Just had to say something before Tom did. -
I've got an ozified lift on my lifted '86 hatch and I love it. Never regretted it once. Really good quality and very strong and well built.

I am 26, though I may not act that way sometimes. Skip you made me think of that "My name is mud" song by Primus.

You guys crack me up. Ya the idea of sweaty guys in a car together is a funny thought. -

That would seriously be the best trip ever.I really wish I could go but can't afford it this year.I am really going to try for next year. Are you bringing your bike along with you Shawn? That would be pretty cool to have that along with you to cruise around on. -
I was weighing the same options/ideas with my pugs before I had them powdercoated.I finally had them done in white.I really like either black or white.I will try to pull up a picture when I find one here. Your Ute looks great.

EA71 Connecting rods
Jerry DeMoss replied to newsoobdude's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I am not sure if you will be able to find brand new ones anymore.I know CCR anounced that they will no longer be able to get head gaskets for them so I think that may be the case for those as well.Look around and I am sure you will find a good used set. That or else take the pistons from that and build a nice ea81. -
That is very cool indeed! I can say that too has happened to me here on the board and kinda makes it feel like family. Enjoy your new braking power!

Ea81 PCV valve breather help!!!
Jerry DeMoss replied to Ether Circus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Really don't think you should worry about head gaskets on that.It is pretty common that the pcv valve will start to get gummed up and you will start to get some "blow by".Just clean up your pcv valve with some seafoam or some carb cleaner.Usually they don't need to be replaced just cleaned. Besides it is a subaru so a little oil cleaning is in order. -

That scoop looks great! I think it looks like it was made to go there.Cheers. Btw- what paint did you use on your intake manifold? It looks nice. -
Man I love that! The intake with the carb on top looks great!
-
Hmmm... I may have to do some poking around.
-
I think you're right about possibly needing to replace the entire cluster.I think that will have to be done to fix it.
-
I bet that makes a unique sound when they pop like that.

Or more apropriately a snowmachine. Gotta have the true Alaska speak there. I think it would be cool to build something like an old honda odessey chassis or something slightly larger with four ski's and mount the motor with a pusher prop on the back.

D/R just stands for dual range, meaning high and low range while in 4wd.
