84 GL. Warm idle issues.
Jerry DeMoss replied to TheYeti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Do you think it is possible it was some sort of vapor lock type thing? All though it wasn't really hot enough to mess with your tank.Just a thought. -
If I can remember,I don't think the weber ever came stock on anything, but was mostly available only through aftermarket.A few vehicles you will find them on are:early-mid 70's bmw 2002,early and mid 80's dodge d50 trucks, jeeps like cj5 & cj7's,there are several others that have them, but you will just have to look at the Jy's.

84 GL. Warm idle issues.

When I saw your car earlier and you were telling me about the problems you were having I forgot to tell you I had the same things happening with my hatch, till I replaced the fuel filters and pump.It would not want to idle when it got warm and sometimes when it would die it was pretty hard to start.I can't say for sure that a fuel pump is the way to go just yet since I haven't been able to drive my car with the new fuel pump in there a whole lot just yet. Also is you fuel pump stock or has it been replaced before? The one that my hatch had when I got it was an aftermarket one and never seemed to work quite right to begin with.Good luck. -
carby adapter gaskets, call me stupid
Jerry DeMoss replied to Subaru_dude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes that big hole in the top that goes up to the stock hitachi. It is best to put something inside the hole along with it like a small bit of a shirt/rag and that will help keep it in place while the jb weld cures. One think I learned is not to try to fill the hole all the way at one time. From what I have found it is easier to work with a little at a time. -

JB weld will take care of that hole for good.I did that on mine and it is still holding strong. -
Since my RX is running again...pics time!
Jerry DeMoss replied to WJM's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Looks really nice, but how does it drive? I love the placement of the bov,and that awic. The down pipe looks great as well. The all white color of your rx is different but in a good way. -
Not to be an rump roast, but bungee cords work good in a pinch.

That looks really cool.Total sleeper style to those who don't notice the blacked out huge monster intercooler up front.Looks like that car would be fun to drive. -
Hows My Brat Coming?
Jerry DeMoss replied to shawnsbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nice looking brat!I love the engine even more! Just curious what jets(mains) and air correctors you are running in your 38dgas?I have the same carb mounted to my ported ea82 intake(destined to go on my ea81) so that is why I am asking.Any tips on hooking that one up as opposed to the standard 32/36 dgev? -

Jerry DeMoss replied to Rooinater's topic in Off Road
Exactly! An old hatch or a brat! -
Cool, looks really clean.I am sure it is nice to have the spare out of your bed especially when you want to haul other things around.
-
Great to hear Mike!I am sure you will like the manual trans a heck of alot better than the auto. BTW-I have a couple intercoolers you may be interested in,if you decide you want to add that later on.

Jerry DeMoss replied to Steveman09's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Looks really nice! There looks like an awfull lot of work that had to be done. BTW- That is one of the biggest top mount intercoolers I have seen on an ea82t. What type of intercooler is it/where did you get it? -
The "boomerang" returns once more...
Jerry DeMoss replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
3rd times a charm! I think you should keep it.There must be some reason it keeps returning to you. I would just go out there and ask the car yourself if it is happy in your driveway.I bet it will say yes. -
Hey Yeti,I think it is strange that you have that issue. Allthough I do have trouble getting mine out of 4wd sometimes but I think a few adjustments with a hammer ought to fix it.

Wow! Um, 35" super swamper boggers come to mind!

If they are the gold ones they are definately worth grabbing. They might be either the snowflake type or the multi spoke one, either way they are pretty rare.

Looks nice Jerry.Looks like you could crawl over little lowered honda civics all day long!
