"Desert Fox" Edition Hatch Decals???
Jerry DeMoss replied to 75subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
WOW!Always nice to hear about new stuff!Never hear of the desert fox decals before. Was there much differnces in the cars that came equiped with the decals or is it more of cosmetic appearance differences?I would love to see some pictures. -
what else for the ea to ej swap....
Jerry DeMoss replied to Urabus-84HBDR's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I have heard the same except for the newer '06+ wrx's are supposed to have a much more beefed up 5speed.I am not sure if that is true or not but the info did come from a reputable subie shop. -
Nice Drivetrain for the brat?
Jerry DeMoss replied to 75subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would buy it if you can Jon.Those Perrin intercooler pipes alone aren't cheap.Looks like it would be a good buy.I would put those sti seats in your brat also. You would have one crazy looking car when you are done! -
New Addition! Picture warning.

Love your brumy! Nice score! -
EA81 compression, custom pistons, how much?
Jerry DeMoss replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would get the crank knifed(profiled)to shave off some rotating mass since you said it is meant to sing up in the upper rpms. Also go with some stronger valve springs and stainless valves.I bought my high strength valve springs from RAM performance. -
Nice clean hatch!Looks sweet!

EA81 compression, custom pistons, how much?
Jerry DeMoss replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would just get the heads decked down like .050"(not sure what that is in mm).You already have the higher compression pistons than the stock hydro lifter ones in you dually carbie engine.Just need to muck around a bit with your intake manifold holes so they fit.I think then you would need 100 octane! -
?got no spark form coil?
Jerry DeMoss replied to 2alaskasubee's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Did you get the timing marks lined up properly when you put in the new disty? I would also take the cap off and see if the rotor turns when it is cranked over. That would be where I would start. -
1400 suspention question?
Jerry DeMoss replied to kiwi subbie's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Any chance you could get a picture of the suspension.I am not sure what came on those.Maybe ask Moosens,I know he would know if anyone does. -
EA81 compression, custom pistons, how much?
Jerry DeMoss replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think you could go dome top.Slight dome that is.I think Ram performance or Wiseco pistons would be the best bet for that.I know that both companies can do custom work.Would be fun to try. -
You know you're airborne in your Subaru when:
Jerry DeMoss replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When you are sitting in the back of your buddy's '81 subie wagon and your head and shoulder hit the ceiling at the same time! This happened to me when I was sitting in the back when we were going down the beach hitting sand mounds(at 40mph!) Only in Alaska! -
Allied Armament Update 300 Hp Wagon
Jerry DeMoss replied to Allied Armament's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Love that wagon! I would have done the same cammo paint job!I think it looks sick!I am sure it will make people look twice when you are running around at around 4,000rpm. -
What Model Year EA-81's have Dual-Port Head?
Jerry DeMoss replied to RAVC1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The dual port engine that you are looking for is about as rare as finding an old gsr subie here in the states.I am not really all that sure what year that engine was built but it is more than likely you won't find one unless you go outside the country. But with an ea81t you shouldn't have too much trouble with finding one of those. -
That thing is so nice! When you are finished with it,I would love to see it sitting next to a stock size hatch!I think it would me cool to compare the two. Good job!

*sigh* going to take the plunge into EJ swappageness!
Jerry DeMoss replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Exactly what I would have said.Should work or if you can get any #'s off of the tranny.I think there should be something on that thing to give you some sort of indication.I would also call the dealership with your #'s you found and see if they can help you. -
I added a clutch fan and look what it does!
Jerry DeMoss replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Love those P51's.One of the coolest low level high speed passes I have seen was by a gee bee r1 replica that flew inverted over the tarmac! -
Did you give CCR a try? They do good work. Also if you wanted a low mile engine did you check the JY's?I have seen a couple ea81's with right at 100k.

How did that guy out on a 4 brrl
Jerry DeMoss replied to HATCHY's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes,Mick told me that it didn't have power in the bottom end.It needed to be reved a bit for the carb to be happy. -
How did that guy out on a 4 brrl
Jerry DeMoss replied to HATCHY's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Look at some of the pictures McBrat posted. He had one on his red brat.I know he had a 600cfm carb on there for a while! It looks great. -
Ya I think you should be able to get it straight again.I would take it out and lay it face down on the ground so you can get a really good perspective of where you need to start at.

Jerry DeMoss replied to Subaru_Mechanic's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Something comes to mind like that one bloke who had a turbo sticking out of the hood of his brumby.I can't seem to find the video clip of Aussie brumby on Youtube.I think it was Phiz who posted that one.
