*sigh* going to take the plunge into EJ swappageness!
Jerry DeMoss replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
All of this EJ swap stuff is very interesting to me.I am especially interested in what you guys do with the megasquirt(Cab let me know how it goes).I really want to see that car when you get all of your parts together. :burnout: :burnout: Four times the fun! -
Just got an '84 GL sedan for free.
Jerry DeMoss replied to Milemaker13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I second that note on the tranny.Needs a manual swap, but for the time that you have the auto,I would check the tranny fluid.Might be a little low.But as stated before I think it needs some tune up tlc. -
Did you put a electric choke type weber or does yours have the water choke? If you have the electric choke then you need to hook that up just like the wire that goes to the hitachi. Also those wires you were talking about that run to the passenger side are most likely as you said something to do with emissions. If yours was a feedback type.

HID lights on the GL wagon
Jerry DeMoss replied to suberdave's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That looks great! You said you did the conversion on your wagon. What wagon is that?Ea81 or ea82 type?Nice job! -
Tired of your "flopping" fuel door?
Jerry DeMoss replied to TheYeti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That magnet idea is great, although for the true redneck:A little duct tape works wonders! -
Also the ea82 has black timing belt covers on the front, where as the ea81 has push rods and is a very plain looking engine. The engine model is written right behind the ea81 distributor(up in front of the engine and a little to the left.)Also the ea82 has the distributor on the rear most drivers side of the engine. To another subie fan from Alaska like myself!

I agree to check with some of the jeep shocks. They may just work.I am using the rancho 5241's on the rear of my hatch.I am sure there is something similar that is longer.

Intercooling on a plane is a doable idea, but on something that is drawing in that much air you might get some icing on the TB.I have heard of "overcooling" before on high preformance aircraft.

Man that intake looks so sweet on that eg33.They also mention that they built an ej22t powered rv6a!

Sounds like a fun project.Sent you a pm. -
Ya I agree, they need to hire people with more car knowledge!I have had 2 people at the emissions place ask me why I put my spare tire on top of my engine! Funny stuff.

It is possible that you have a valve that is not seating properly or something to that effect.Another scenario is that your head gaskets are starting to leak.I don't know that you need to have it rebuilt just yet.I would think you could get alot more miles out of it before then. Also if it turns out that you need new heads,I have a good set off of an engine with only 87,000 miles of an ej22t.

How old are you thinking?I am pretty sure fords have always been 4x100.I could be wrong on some of the euro spec fords though.

When I go back to the AK I will keep an eye out for it.You should try that one out in the Caribou Hills in Ninilchik!

Oddity at the junk yard
Jerry DeMoss replied to kingbobdole's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well I may just have to check it a little more closely.I got rx's on the front of the hatch so that is a start. -

So are the front RS springs the same as the front ones on the RX?Same spring rate and height ect? -

Saw that one also Phil.I saw it when it was being brought out by a fork lift.I would have grabbed the gold hub caps if they were in better shape. That was the first thing that caught my eye. -
EA82t power differences in different countries
Jerry DeMoss replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Exhaust gas temprature. Essentially the temp of the exhaust gas exiting the head. EGT is a thermocouple that changes the temprature reading into an electrical signal that is fed back to the computer. -
Agreed.I think that is the easiest and maybe the cheapest way to go rather than spending your time welding and cutting and such.

Time for EVEN MORE power!
