ok heres the info and questions
Jerry DeMoss replied to Subaru_Mechanic's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I think you carb needs some tlc.I would recomend checking the accelerator pump and completely go through the carb and replace the needle and seat as well as all of the gaskets and O-rings.Souns like it may have been sitting for a while and needs a little going over. -
Ya my mistake on that!Doi!I was thinking of the EJ ones!
-
Check with CCR.They do great work in all that they do.I know they do rebuild your carbs(the right way). http://www.ccrengines.com/

Australia is where you can find the d/r ea tranny.Slim chance they made it up into Canada.

Welcome.First I would do a compression test to make sure you have a point to start at to make sure you rings are sealing properly. Also has it maintained the same amount of power since you have owned it?Also I might add that you cannot see synthetic oil being burned out the tail pipe.So that is a little tough to tell.

My remote oil pressure sender set-up
Jerry DeMoss replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You always have some neat ideas Mick. That bracket that holds the sender looks like the fuel filter holder located by the pump on a ea81 car.Was it hard to get it to get the couplings to seal properly?DrKrazy mounted his sender differntly on his ea82 car,but if I can't do something similar to what he has done I will definately give that a try.Nice job. -
There is a justy that had the swap done that may lend some insite into what you are doing. Can't seem to find the website.I know you will need the wiring harness and ecu ect.You will need the parts to do a 5lug swap most likely off of a xt6.Also there is a guy that put a wrx motor into his brat.I think his name is Ruguyver.I could be wrong in the spelling of the name.I know it is rather in depth, but the end result would be a sick rally hatch! Want to get rid of any of your ea81 stuff let me know.

I have LED's in my dome light and the front corner lenses. They do quite well.

Issues with my EA81dc, dying at high RPM.
Jerry DeMoss replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you want a dual carb here in the u.s. let me know.I know of a few that are still available in oregon.I ended up buying some myself. The only thing that is hard and next to impossible to get is the dc filter box.Pm me and I will get you the address. -
Dang! That is sweet!I want a white hatch too.My red one needs a friend.

Sounds good to me Keith.I think that is a good date as well.I will bring some brats and maybe some boca burgers for those who don't want meat.(I like them too)May even bring some Jalapeno cheese dip, depending on how many people come.Would kinda like to get an idea of how many are going to come. Count me in for at least a couple chairs and the food listed above. I will even bring a tarp to make a make shift lean-to off of your shed Keith. In case of rain.

MAF sensor cleaning...who'd a thunk!
Jerry DeMoss replied to Snowman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am not sure if brake cleaner is safe on an MAF,but they do sell special spray for cleaning them and I have used it several times with good results.Just about any parts store carries it. -
is EA81 1988 GL cv shaft same as some EA82?
Jerry DeMoss replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I was going to say the same thing.I believe they are a bit longer. -

I thought it might have been africa as you just stated.I know it is tradition to carve a coffin for you out of wood of what you did in your life and what you enjoyed or your job.Saw it on national geografic a while ago. -
Nice brat Tom! I am glad I have one more old subie to keep my eyes peeled for! I am sure that adds more fuel to the fire for wanting to get that '80 brat for you doesn't it Keith? Also to answer your earlier question:Yes I would love to help with the carb on that brat if you get it and maybe we could weberize it!
