Calling all 88 RX coupe owners
Jerry DeMoss replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Torxxx are you planning on resealing the engine?Like cam seals and such? Are you planning on gutting the cat and putting a larger exhaust on there?I know that you had mentioned rally earlier and thought I would definately do the same if I got a car like that.Long travel suspension! + power = FUN! Also I would second the notion on the mobil1 10w30.That is my favorite engine oil for anything.A friend of mine once ran his for 15k and then drained it like nothing happened.Good stuff. -
I would love to do that to my hatch! How much of a lift on it and what tires.I noticed you did the 6lug conversion on it.Very nice looking. That roof basket adds a nice touch also.

my new toy... 88 RX coupe
Jerry DeMoss replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nice score torxxx. Is it rusty?Lots of subies seem to get rusty pretty quick in Alaska. That 76,000 on the odo. is insane. What color is it?Sweet! -
I too would recomend ceramics.I just put some on my wifes Jeep Liberty and they are great. Also I have used ceramics front and rear on a friend of mines legacy.Carquest brand seems to do well as far as long life and very quiet with not as much brake dust. Also the braking power is substancially better.Another brand that is good is pepboys brand : Prostop ceramic pad.I have had plenty of luck with those as I maintain a fleet of different vehicles.Good luck.

Anyone going to Oregon Trail Rally 2006?
Jerry DeMoss replied to cmiller's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
That would be really fun.But I cannot make it.Maybe sometime I could sneak my hatch out there when no one is looking. -

Jerry DeMoss replied to scrap487's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like a good idea to me.Make something that you could adapt to anything.I like the idea of fiberglass hood and fenders or carbon. -
what kinda rims are these!?
Jerry DeMoss replied to Zefy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have never seen those either.Maybe Mick could be able to tell us what they are.Maybe add them to the rim page.Nice score. -

Sounds interesting. Are you going to lift it?Any performance mods?I want to see this one too. -

Another tip is: If you are going to change your bulb color just use stained glass window paint. My brother did this and it hasn't changed to a weird color in over 3years. -
Hey thats really cool.

Jerry DeMoss replied to jonas's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Most likely its a hitachi, but could be a carter/weber. Should say on the carb somewhere. Look closely you will find it. -

What type of tig welder do you use?Where do you get your tubing bent or do you do that on your own? -
Yep.Should be a really fun car when he is through with it.

Jerry DeMoss replied to BoostedBalls's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That is beautiful!!! I like that fact that you are doing the external WG thing so it's more tunable.Very nice work. What type of tig do you use?I really want to make one for ea81 n/a.I think it would be awesome! Any chance you are going to build one for ej22t? You definately have a gift. -
Also spray the nuts and bolts on the exhaust parts you are about to remove with plenty of PB Blaster.Let it soak in for a few minutes and then go to work.Makes taking it apart and assembly alot easier.
