So I got annoyed with myself for not being able to figure out what was going on and figured it out. Figured out what the slave was, took one look at it and decided to replace it before the 4,500 mile drive to Alaska, heh.
Got a new one on the way for $36.00.
Any tips on the swap?

Yes, yet another fun and exciting Slave Cylinder thread where someone asks the same question and everyone either gives somewhat the same answer or points them to an older thread.
But not today!!!1
Today we're dealing with a whole new idiot, me.
I've got the standard squishy stupid clutch pedal, and I am about to drive 4500 miles to alaska, so I want to get it fixed. I'd like to bleed it, or replace it, except for one problem: I'm a total noob and don't know where it is or how to get to it.
So could someone please give me some good instructions on how to locate this stupid thing? Approximate size, shape, what it likes for dinner, you know, normal stuff. And of course the best way to bleed it without a fancey gadget.
Help?

GAH, I wish I had known about this. I spent the whole weekend being bored off my rump roast with zero motivation to work on my 87 Wagon. I would have been up there in a second, it's only 6 hours away.
Fixing up the 87 to sell it, btw. Need some blings to afford the move to Alaska. Weber power 4 lyfe.
Heh, I said "blings"

Oh I'm definatly ending up there. My buddy is getting us a place this week, and I'll be sending rent for the six months before I even show up starting next months
If you end up in Juneau, let me know. I know some people there. -
Care to elucidate on that a little?
I'd take either one over my Legacy in bad weather, no comparison. -
Chugiak is up by Anchorage right?
Just googled, yes, it is. Why the hell did I know that.
-
My best friend just moved up there. I'll be joining him and going to school. Maybe open up a Kung Fu school if I'm there for over a year or two, all depends.
Hey Skeet, what are you doing in Juneau? -
Windex windshield. Clean the poop out of it.
Get some Bon Ami (or barkeeps friend) and a plastic bristled scrub brush. Get your windshield wet, apply generous amount of cleaning powder, scrub the crab out of it.
Windex, let dry.
Apply RainX.
You will never need wipers again. Seriously. I drove from Seattle to Kentucky through a blizzard and 3 thunderstorms and satan himself and never needed to turn them on.
Science.
we have been getting some major downpours herein the PNW, so anyone have some suggestions? -
Seriously, how lame is that. I was really thinking about getting one, because I want a mini-van type thing to go camping with, in the event of un-kosher weather etc..
I'll stick with the wagon until they go with removable seats.
Fold-flat seating achieved by raising the height of the floor in the cargo hold. -
What exactly is the question?
-
Good stuff. I'm currently working about 70 hours a week saving up money for my move to Juneau. ETA: October.
-
What Justy in its right mind has 4 doors?
-
They both butt right up to the back of the seats to get your as much room as possible in the back. I can't really think of a way to do it without modifying the gate.
All the gates I have seen in soobies are an easy swap. Just unscrew it and screw it back in, no biggie.

You just might be in luck. A buddy of mine is about to do a full sti swap into his 2.5 RS. He is trying to find a closed deck 2.5 JDM short, and then I'm getting his current 2.5 short. Which means MY 2.5 short will be unused.
Did you catch all that?
SO, as soon as he gets his short, I get mine, and you can theoreticly get yours. I'd sell it for whatever he sells me his for, and a little less even.
I'll keep you posted.
anyone got a 2.5 Dohc engine layin around? would prefer it to be already torn down or such.. hell i could prolly get by with a new shortblock if anyones got one of them.. i'm bettin my heads are OK.. -
If I were a jedi, I'd just use the force.
I'm gong to buy the part, and the tester that will reset the computer when the job is done.... -
Sucks that its an a/t, but what a steal.

Didn't they switch from Phase I to Phase II halfway through 99?
Phase I -
I sure hope they make it nice and easy to rip it out.

I'd probably remember less about fixing stuff if I had every FSM available at any given moment. Thats just me though
-
Hehe, I was looking at those too.
Yeah, remotes are remotes. If it says subaru on it you can probably program it.
If I were you, I would go get one from a junkyard for $1.00 and try that.
There is a Keyless enty remote on ebay for sale. I was wondering if I can get it reprogramed to work on my 2001 outback. Any help would be great.Vic

HGs were both done 15k ago, so if its that I will explode.
I'll get the codes checked monday.

Any news on this? The same thing happened to me yesterday on my 99 Wagon.
I was to run it until the gas light came on. 319 miles and it still wasn't showing up. Then the Check Engine light starts blinking. After about 10 seconds of blinking it stays on. Check the manual, same thing he said, emissions or gas cap. So I fill the tank, tighten the cap, and 1 day and several starts later the thing is still on. Blink for 10 seconds earlier while driving, then stayed on again.

I still have the mounting brackets from the Busted lamps that werre on my car. I heard that one type of Hellas will bolt right into my brackets and then right into place, I just need to find someone who has done it to confirm it heh.
-
I just got a 99 Outback and the fog lamps are shattered (I knew this going into the deal)
Since Factory lights are $100 a pop and Hella lights are like $70.00 a pair.....
Will those fit into my 99 outback without too much major science?
Subaru BRZ might be discontinued
in BRZ and its Sister the Scion FRS/Toyota GT86

A turbo BRZ will put it into that price point where I would much rather have an STI. I like my BRZ, but I like it about 27 thousand dollars worth and not much more.
