  1. Yes, yet another fun and exciting Slave Cylinder thread where someone asks the same question and everyone either gives somewhat the same answer or points them to an older thread.

    But not today!!!1

Today we're dealing with a whole new idiot, me.

I've got the standard squishy stupid clutch pedal, and I am about to drive 4500 miles to alaska, so I want to get it fixed. I'd like to bleed it, or replace it, except for one problem: I'm a total noob and don't know where it is or how to get to it.

So could someone please give me some good instructions on how to locate this stupid thing? Approximate size, shape, what it likes for dinner, you know, normal stuff. And of course the best way to bleed it without a fancey gadget.

    Help?

    edit - 99OBW (durrrr me)

  2. GAH, I wish I had known about this. I spent the whole weekend being bored off my rump roast with zero motivation to work on my 87 Wagon. I would have been up there in a second, it's only 6 hours away.

Fixing up the 87 to sell it, btw. Need some blings to afford the move to Alaska. Weber power 4 lyfe.

    Heh, I said "blings"

  3. Windex windshield. Clean the poop out of it.

Get some Bon Ami (or barkeeps friend) and a plastic bristled scrub brush. Get your windshield wet, apply generous amount of cleaning powder, scrub the crab out of it.

    Windex, let dry.

    Apply RainX.

You will never need wipers again. Seriously. I drove from Seattle to Kentucky through a blizzard and 3 thunderstorms and satan himself and never needed to turn them on.

    Science.

we have been getting some major downpours herein the PNW, so anyone have some suggestions?
  4. You just might be in luck. A buddy of mine is about to do a full sti swap into his 2.5 RS. He is trying to find a closed deck 2.5 JDM short, and then I'm getting his current 2.5 short. Which means MY 2.5 short will be unused.

    Did you catch all that?

SO, as soon as he gets his short, I get mine, and you can theoreticly get yours. I'd sell it for whatever he sells me his for, and a little less even.

    I'll keep you posted.

anyone got a 2.5 Dohc engine layin around? would prefer it to be already torn down or such.. hell i could prolly get by with a new shortblock if anyones got one of them.. i'm bettin my heads are OK..
  5. Any news on this? The same thing happened to me yesterday on my 99 Wagon.

I was to run it until the gas light came on. 319 miles and it still wasn't showing up. Then the Check Engine light starts blinking. After about 10 seconds of blinking it stays on. Check the manual, same thing he said, emissions or gas cap. So I fill the tank, tighten the cap, and 1 day and several starts later the thing is still on. Blink for 10 seconds earlier while driving, then stayed on again.

  6. I just got a 99 Outback and the fog lamps are shattered (I knew this going into the deal)

Since Factory lights are $100 a pop and Hella lights are like $70.00 a pair.....

Will those fit into my 99 outback without too much major science?
