  1. tnx for info about subaru harness listed on ebay. Unfortunately they only list 97-03. tnx rick w mi
  2. Hope some info pops up. I also bought my squeeze a bulldog for xmas(1995 legacy auto). Putting it off cause afraid it is a big job. Told her install will be birthday present. She isn't buying it. rick w mi
  3. The last post from Emily states all 96 to 98 2.2 are single port exhaust. Using this motor in my 1990 I will need the exhaust system won't I? And if so, does it still have the single oxygen sensor or duals as it seems is more common in newer vehicles? If dual "ohtoo's" then my ecu may not like the one I select. The egr issue seems minor compared the above stuff. Life would sure be eaiser with a good ole 1990 block. rick
  4. Tnx for all the info folks. I chatted with an old grizzled buddy up north with bunch of soob experience and he stated the same concern regarding the exhaust port configuration. In additon he was wary of the 96 wye pipe fitting under the 1990 car properly. I am not convinced I will be able to use the 96 intake and associated cables as the 90 engine connects on the left (drivers side) and the 96 is on the right. Also the connector count not sure is the same. The egr issue seems to necessitate going with the 96 intake. Me thinks before I plop down the money more investigation needs to be done. Confused a bit. rick
  5. My 1990 Legacy manual xmsn, bad ej22. Found 1996 2.2L in salvadge yard mated to auto trans. 75K miles - $400. Maybe able to hear run. Price ok? Guy at the yard checked a reference book and stated the left head is different for auto vs manual. Is that so? Should I be concerned? Any surprise swapping issues? Exhaust and intake should bolt up? I am aware the entire sensor/ecu etc. components will need to be used from 1990 car. tnx rick w mi
  6. My bad Josh. I didn't look hard enough. Just pulled motor today. 1.5 hours ain't bad for a rookie. tnx rick
  7. Have 90 legacy with blown head gaskets or cracked heads or ?? Found a good motor but not sure if it has the crank drilled for the xmsn pilot bushing. Haven't seen the motor and it is a fair drive. If it was removed from an automatic vehicle will I be able to use it? keepin fingers crossed rick w mi
  8. Handtool. You are a fine fellow. Posted my question and 15 minutes later the answer was there. Thank you very much for the help. Job is not done yet but should be straight forward now that the mystery of the bezel has been solved. Wife said we should buy you a beer. tnx again. rick
  9. Climate control bulbs are all dark. Wife came home with replacements. Now the hard part. Searched here and found good info on getting at most stuff but was stopped dead in my tracks when it came to bezel removal. Refernced Haynes manual. Don't have one and it is a 30 mile round trip to get one. Any suggestions? I tugged and pryed and cursed but still won't budge. tnx rick w mi
  10. thanks all contacted local auto electric guy and he seemed agreeable to sell just the parts I need. Total rebuild 65 bucks. Will compare rebuild vs. individual parts cost and make call. tnx bunch. rick w mi.
  11. Greetings. Been here before but had to reregister. bummer. 1990 2.2 liter manual xmsn. I have a bad set of contacts in my starter solenoid. Rebuilt starter is about $100 from Autozone! New is $310 from dealer. What are my options? tnx rick w michigan
