My 87 gl wagons heater is stuck on panel no matter which setting I put it on. I do notice that I cant hear the vacuum sound I usually hear when switching from one setting to another so I am going to try tracking the vacuum lines. An interesting side note. The heat that is coming out of the panel is hotter than it has ever been in this car.

Get it aligned after your installation. Thats all I've got. -
Thursday I filled the tank on my Outback and blew a head gasket that night. Friday filled the tank on my GL and had wheel bearings get scary noisy. Is it coincidence that my cars only break down when the tank is full?

On my way to work today I was listening to Vulgar Display of Power at extreme volume, that album makes me drive faster than the posted limit. While Jamming on the way to work my car(87 spfi wagon) felt like it was running a little faster than usual. It felt like the RPMs were coming a little faster. Well when I got to work I turned the radio off before I turned the car off and the exhaust sounded a little louder. I went around to the back to see if the muffler had a hole or a break in the pipe I noticed that the tail pipe was alot lower than usual. I grabbed it and it came right out taking the pipe from inside the muffler with it. The car is very loud now. I like the tone of it but the total volume is way to much. Does any one have a recomendation for a good turbo muffler. I would like to keep the boxer rumble but in a quieter version.

2001 Chrysler 300M or 2004 Chevy Aveo 5

I would avoid any Chrysler that is built on the Intrepid platform. They have a well deserved reputation as transmission eaters. I know nothing about the Aveo. -

That thing needs a Hyabusa(sp) engine. -
Depending on what year it is it could be a hydaulic lifter engine.

The SNL car was the Adobe. Speaking of Yugos, has everyone seen the movie Drowning Mona. almost everyone in that movie drives a Yugo.

Umm... I hate the EA82. I hate timing belts, I hate head gasket issues, and i like bottom end torque, and I like the cam in the center of the engine where God intended it.

There has been alot on here about using the spfi from the ea82 on an ea81. Has anyone ever put an ea81 in an ea82 car with spfi. I have an 87 GL Wagon that has the spfi ea82. I hate that engine! I want to go with an ea81 in that car. I want to keep the spfi. This ever been done by anyone out there?

88 GL Coupe - Oil Pan Plug gasket

To keep oil off of the skid plate take a piece of card board and fold it stick it up in the hole and let the oil run down it. -

I just watched this losers video. I love it when ricer boys go out on to an interstate or highway and race people in that manner. It proves absolutely nothing, other than the fact that they are idiots. If you want to show how quick your car is, take it to the strip and show off an e.t.. You wanna show off how fast it is, take it to the salt flats and have it timed there. They didnt film any of those cars long enough to show that there was a reall race going on. LOSERS. -
I think it may happen, gonna trade the Soob
dave valiant replied to Milemaker13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well with all that said it is a true testament to its greatness that I have seen several 4.0 liters with over 200,000 miles that have never had any internal work done to them. -

I have owned and know alot of people who have Cherokees. In my opinion they are an excellent vehicle. If you you want to go wheelin they are far far far superior to any stock sube. If you do your preventive maintenence on them they are extremely reliable. The fuel economy is not as good as you will find with a sube but that is about the only downfall. The 4.0 inline 6 is a great engine. -

You have headgasket issues so you want to go with an EA82? interesting. -
Ignition timing question
dave valiant replied to Tom63050's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I did a search and I dont have a repair manual. what rpm should the engine be at when setting the timing on an spfi. -
I'm probably gonna regret this...

Its not that tough to do, you will be fine. Just make sure you get the marks lined up and dont forget to rotate 180 when you do the outer belt. -
Axle replacement for EA series cars
dave valiant replied to edrach's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I agree with leaving the ball joint alone to do an axle. I have heard some say to do that on here in the past and it is a very bad idea. Rust is natures super glue. -

Nice post Ed. I noticed one thing that you left out. If you have a rust belt car be prepared to cuss alot if you are attempting to drop the ball joint.
