  1. Shawn how can you say the Brat was ugly! I personally think they look kinda cool, but for the price....I also don't like the letter number choice. It sounds to much like benign.Dave
  2. Vicky, I'm sure you wont have any problems finding another victim:-p.I find it hard to believe Tim would shut the CB off on you. Have fun everyone I wish I were going.Dave
  3. I can't make it. I am very upset but it isn't all bad.Our asphalt business is starting to get back logged with business.Almost every job we have done we have been asked if we can come back and put down another load,Some 2 or 3 more.So if anyone is going to be heading to the meet and heading through the black hills send me a pm and stop in and say hi.Wish I was going but will be there in spirit.Oh yeah,Vicky, my Brat died of terminal cancer.I would have been driving my 87 Wagon.Dave
  4. Hey Austin.I live in Rapid City wich is 15 miles from Keystone and according to the weather forecast I saw for the area we will be reaching 100 tomorrow.Hope your trip is uneventful. If you are driving across SD it will be boring.LOL
  5. Yeah it is the 87 in my sig.It is SPFI and only has one O2 sensor just bafore the first cat.She goes in monday to an undisclosed location. Its only costing me $60 for a new Y pipe and a couple of feet of pipe and having the O2 bung installed. Can't wait to see if I pick up any power from this.Dave.
  6. I have found a guy who will redo a y pipe for me so I will be sans cats.Just wondering if there are any problems that could pop up because of it.He will be installing a bung so I can keep the O2 sensor. One of the nice things about SD,no vehicle inspections of any kind.Yeah for me.Dave.
  7. I went on a 350 mile road trip today and got 29 mpg with my 87 dr 5 speed wagon with 232,000 miles on the clock.I was driving out on the prairie and fighting 20-35 mph winds.I am fairly impressed.Dave.
  8. About the fuel tank,I have no Idea but with the pump it should be different since the EA81-T is mpfi and requires alot more fuel pressure than a carb.
  9. Here in West River SD I am seeing alot of OBW and still quite a few EA82 cars, mosly with terminal cancer and hardly ever see an EA81.As far as swinging a dead cat I don't think anyone would question your love of cats unless you were swinging a live one.Dave
  10. When you say bypass the switch do you mean to hard wire it together so that it is always on? If that is the case just pull the switch out and connect the two wires together.Sorry if that isn't what you were talkin about but I have done this to alot of electrical devices from leaf blowers to angle grinders and drills( don't ever hard wire an angle grinder or drill and try to use it with out someone to plug and unplug. It's very dangerous) Hope I helped and sorry if I didn't.Dave.
  11. Hey Niall, someone might have an answer here, but you would be better of posting in the new generation forum.Dave.
  12. Mick count me in.This is absolutely perfect. That is the date for the Sturgis Motor Cycle Rally. My least favorite time of the year.I will probably be attending by myself.Tim and Vicky I will be getting ahold of you for travel plans.Shawn if you want to caravan across SD with me just let me know in a pm.Dave.
  13. Hey Vicky.I would definetly be meeting up with you and Tim to head out togther.I will agree to talk to you on the CB as long as you can agree to not sing over the CB:lol:.Talk to you later,Dave.
  14. Me and a buddy of mine stripped an 84 wagon with an acetyline torch and a 624 JD front end loader.shoulda snapped a few pics of the loader parked on top of the shell of the car.Dave
  15. Well I would have to put my vote in for the beautiful Black Hills. It sounds like that isn't going to happen though. If we were to have it here I know people who are heavily into offroading and have access to miles of trails. There is plenty of camping, fishing, boating, shooting, hiking and most important,NO GUMBO! Regardless of the state,be it Iowa or South Dakota I will attend. Sounds like another 900 mile round trip:banana:.Dave.
  16. I have been away from the board for awhile.I hd to move out of my home because my Wife no longer wants me there.Because of that I have had almost no internet access.Well i finally realized my Brat is terminal with the cancer and got an 87 Wagon.SInce purchasing the car I have had the head gaskets, water pump, timing belts, tensioners, thermostat, belts, hoses, fuel filter, pcv valve, plugs, cap and rotor replaced. My freinds think I am insane for doing this to an "old station wagon" but the car is rust free. That is almost unheard of in SD.I got my pugs from Baccaruda and Svengouli, and I am getting strut exteders from Chef_Tim so I can start the lift installation. On antother note I will be stripping my Brat and junking her.If there is anything anyone might want off of it pm me. Good to be back,Dave.
  17. Did you check to see if it is full of ATF?I'd start there.Dave.
  18. I just got my power steering pump put on my Brat.It is an EA82 pump.I am posting this because when I asked if the 82 pump would work on the 81 no one knew(or they just didn't want tell me)so I tried it.It mounts up the same, the only thing is you have to do some creative plumbing with the hoses. So now my Brat doesn't sound like gravel in a tin can when I turn the wheel.Dave.
  19. Are you goin to be going through South Dakota.I'm on the other end of the state from Chef_Tim.I would be interseted in buying a Brat windshield from Moosens.Pm me if you are heading this way.Dave
  20. Wow another West River member.Chef_Tim and Vickaroo are in Sioux Falls.I'm in Rapid City so if there was anything I could do for you just give me a call.My number is 484-5171,I honestly don't know too much about new gen stuff but would be willing to help if I could.Dave.
  21. Thanks Northguy,I needed that.I have done that trying to fix things on the trimsaw at work and broke the welds and made even more work for myself. It is amazing the torque that is put out by a 3/4 impact gun.
  22. When you re-enforce a moustache bar do you just weld gussets on? Just curious for future reference.
  23. Hey Tim,why not just get a crank pulley off an auto EA81 with the timing marker.I don't know if it was standard on all autos, but my Brat has the crank pulley with timing marker.Just an idea.Dave.
