  1. maybe you have incorrect sized tires and/or the transmission was swapped from a vehicle with a different final drive ratio. Odometers are usually 'rolled back' (total mileage reduced) but that is not going to affect the rate of accumulation.
  2. TPS signal dropping out? Maybe get an analog meter on the tps output and exercise it to see if resistance change is smooth.
  3. what they all said up there. Do you KNOW the car got a proper timing belt system service? You could always accelerate the timing belt system's service schedule. Do it at 75K miles or 75 months for instance. Make darn sure you are using a good kit. Don't run without covers. Use good oil, make sure the turbo and avls oil screens are clean. buying a used turbo is a gutsy move. If you want to worry about something, read about the Killer B oil pick-up .
  4. check underhood along the plastic tank - to - metal core attachment. It's a common leak point. You could get a pressure testing kit from a parts store on loan to help too. Be aware, many folks have slowed/stopped minor leaks with the Subaru Coolant Conditioner. I'd want to make darn sure the heater core had to come out before tackling that job. (sry to hi-jack with no info on the swap itself)
  5. premium fuel needed in that engine. shaking could be several things, but rear bushings for front lower control arms go 'fairly' early on some cars.
  6. any clunking shifting from fwd / rev.? I can't imagine a cracked release fork would do this so, just gotta leave it to the gurus above lol!
  7. if you thought getting it for about 15% less is OK, make an offer 20% less and try to negotiate to your 15%. a much lower offer may just p!55 him off. Hard to know. there's probably better 'classic' cars to spend the money on but.....
  8. in case you didn't know, an app for your smartphone and an ELM327 BT adapter or similar from Amazon can let you read codes and do more. Cheap-ish too. (some free apps, and ,adapters under 30-40 bucks.)
  9. superb posts above. If you think there could have been any large rocks under the snow, make sure the transmission pan isn't dented.
  10. I'd definitely do as lmdew suggested. I have had a failing battery set multiple/spurious codes on 3 occasions. May not be as serious as it seems but???????
  11. sometimes, a vacuum gauge can detect clogged exhaust. look on-line for instructions/examples.
  12. oh, sorry, COOLANT leaking now, not oil. maybe 'rent' a pressure testing kit from the parts store.
  13. oil cooler adapter seal is quite likely. Leaks a lot too. Easy to fix with the correct deep socket - 24mm. the one for my 03 H6 was under 8 bucks - 21370KA001
  14. I have read that poor grounding can cause an increase in electrolytic corrosion - possibly leading to increased likelihood of head gasket or radiator core failure. You don't want to ever read any significant voltage between ground and the radiator coolant! should be under 0.3 or 0.4 volts.
  15. I have had failing batteries set 'spurious' codes on 3 occasions. maybe test batt and check all connections. on some cars, adding LED bulbs has caused CANBUS issues. sry, that's all I got.
  16. well, one possibility is the little foam gaskets on the blend doors are failing and draggging or getting 'bunched-up' in some way. I have even had older cars 'spit-out' pieces of foam from the vents. But, I have no idea if failures like that in Texas would be common elsewhere. Heat here is brutal on many plastics and rubbers.
