  1. I have the same problem, all hoses appear to be intact and not leaking. Is there any way to tell if the diaphragm or cable system is working properly?
  2. I have a bunch of stuff from the front end of a 89 hatch including bumper, that shiny bar along the bottom, some headlights, antiroll bar, and a box of goodies. If someone came and took all of it I would be happy, I would feel bad tossing all of it. 301 Gladstone across from the toyota dealership on Ellis in the york dist. Feel free to call. 206 819 9899 Clayton
  3. Doesnt the SPFI use a higher pressure pump, I coulda sworn I saw that in the FSM
  4. I do have the both complete factory service manuals for the 88 and 85, but I was hoping that perhaps someone has dealt with this before so they could point me in the right direction before I dive in.
  5. I am putting a 1985 MPFI turbo EA82 in an 88 SPFI wagon I have already installed the engine, the engine bay portion of the wiring harness, and the computer. All the prepherial things work, including the starter. But there is not power to the fuel pump or the starter. Many of the plugs were the same but I have a feeling that doesnt mean anything. Many other plugs are still homeless. Looking for any experienced help. Clayton
  6. So, theres a bit of a story to this so ill try to make it simple. I aquired GL-10 that had a turbo motor put it in, definatly not stock motor. Took motor out along with wiring harness and computer with hopes to put it something else. no compression in one cylinder to I took it apart to fint a completely anialiated bottom end. I had a few naturally asperated bottom ends sitting around so I proceeded to create a higher compression boosted engine that would eventually blow up but be fun in the meantime. SO! looking at the FSM I notice a knock sensor in the diagram, as well as a controll unit, as well as a distributor with 4 wires (mine has 2). This engine/car(which I no longer have) was robbed or denied of it knock sensor stuff. So what the hell do I do? I am aware I can buy all this stuff, but I dont have any money for this project. And I have been learning a lot about knock at school lately and I realize this is a very critical component. Clayton
  7. So my GL-10 (which will be for sale) only ran on three cylinders, I narrowed it down to a compression problem, checked it and sure enough that is the problem. I started tearing it apart and got the head off, without taking the engine out mind you. There are absolutely no detectable problems, aside from the fact the cam section which bolts onto the head was missing three bolts. So, im going to put it all back together unless someone has a suggestion. Clayton
  8. The million dollar question. What does an Asian import tax on US chicken have to do with the seats in the back of a Subaru Brat? (this is truly why there are seats in Brat beds) Clayton Mortimer Bellingham WA
  9. Get another E-brake lever and hook it up to one of the cables, one lever for each wheel, free turning brake!
  10. My Friend and I are swapping an engine form his old 2wd justy into a junked 4wd justy. I suggest you do the same if possible. It is possible to do a 4wd swap but you would have to find a donor car anyways. And you can fit 13's on there if you havnt already done that, i had a justy for a while, wrecked it in the snow. check out the pic on my photos. Clayton
  11. I was recently talking to Doc. Seal the other day at the Vehicle Research Institute (VRI) at WWU. I was asking him about diesels in subarus and he said, along with developing the DOHC EA81 engine for the Quattro San, both he and Subaru developed their own working diesels and they both came to the conclusion that it wasnt a good idea. Even though at the time they were pretty sure that it would work well. Our engines simply dont have the proper surface area to bore ratio. So it doesnt really matter how much compression the engine can make, even though aparently the engine could take the loads. Seal agreed that a VW diesel engine would be best suited for a subaru, and it would work well with the transmission. There is a lot of diesel VW engines at the VRI as well as Subaru transmissions so, when I get some free time, one of my projects will be to make an adapter plate, I have made an adapter plate to connect an electric motor to a mazda transmission and its not that difficult. I dont know a thing about engine electronics and luckly diesles have barely any, so im surprised one of us doesnt have one yet, and im all for biodiesel! Clayton Bellingham
  12. I got my own pugs, lol. But hey goatman I think you know what car im talking aobut. Bright blue . . . Do you know anything about it? Clayton
  13. It doesnt appear to be lifted, its a wagon, and it has round headlights(what year has round headlights). Its in pretty good condition, and its as blue as the blue on the USMB background. Its been there for a couple years, and the woman said I wasnt the only person who has "came looking to steal the wheels." Clayton
  14. Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) You can use is to make a mold if you know anyone who can do sandcasting. We've used this process at the Vehicle Research Institute at WWU to make intake runners. Worked well... Clayton Bellingham
  15. I am going out on a limb here, but I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the blue early 80's subaru with pug rims and a couple lights on the roof, it lives in the york dist. in Bellingham? I just stopped by this evening to look at it and an old woman came out of the house and told me the the car belonged to her son and it might be for sale, but the made it sound like it would cost an arm and a leg. She went on to say that I probably just wanted the rims, and she seemed to think that I was going to steal the car! I asked if she had a way to contact her son and she was very persistant that he couldnt be reached. Anyways, just thought I would share this subaru tale with you guys. Clayton Bellingham ps. maybe ill take a pic of it and post it.
