If you follow th top radiator hose, it'll go into a fitting on the engine (actually the intake) and there are two bolts that hold this fitting onto the engine. Those two bolts hold on the thermostat housing and inside is the thermostat.

I was wondering how I replace a thermostat on a 91 loyale. I dont know much about repairing cars. Is this an easy thing to do for a newbie? I would apreciate any help, thanks.

I am having the same problem with my car. The temp keeps going up and then quikly back down. Is it a broken gauge? DO i need a new thermostat and if so how much does it cost?

I have the same problem with my Subaru. My temperture guage does it aswell. It will move up to red and then gradually move down again. I dont think its something to worry about, but if any one knows what it is let us know.On a side note does anyone know what a flushing sound means on the passenger side of the engine is?

I am having some problems I am hoping someone could shed some light on. I have a 91' subaru loyale which need a new harmonic balancer and timing belt aswell as bearings. The mechanic is estimating 850$ does this sound like a fair price. The car has 188,000 miles on it im thinking maybe i should just scrap it what do you think?

[Check engine light problems]

I am experiencing a few problems with my 91' loyale wagon and was hoping some one could help. The first is my check engine light is coming on and the going off every time I accellerate. Is that the timing? The other thing is If the car is not warmed up my alternator will not charge the battery. WHen it kicks back down to around 1000 rpms after warming up it will charge. Is that normal? It seems it wont charge very well when the lights are either so I have not been driving at night. I recently replaced both the alternator and the battery. ANy thoughts?
