  1. It feels like it is an air mixing problem, any idea where the vacuum line/passenger air control is located. I'm hoping I don't have to rip the whole dash apart.
  2. Just bought this 05 Outback with the Dual zone climate control, Ive been reading up about it online and find out that is has all sorts of issues, one I'm concerned with is the passenger side never gets warm air, I could set it to manual mode, crank the passenger side to 85 and I'm lucky if I get it slightly warm while the drivers side is set to 70 and blowing all types of warm air, even if I put both to 85 in either manual or auto mode the passenger vents (all of them..defrost, vent, and floor) only blow cool air. I'm hoping there is some way to get some warm air over there before winter sets in. I never thought I would miss the heater/AC in my 91 Loyale wagon but that worked flawlessly.
  3. I cant smell anything out of the ordinary when it is puffin' Im going to go with the general concesus and not worry about it...at least till the weather warms up. thanx for the follow-ups.
  4. I should have been more clearer..there is more smoke than usual..I owned the car for about 5 years and lately when first started and driving there is a nice size white cloud following me(alot more noticeable then the usual condensation burn up)
  5. A little history..91 Loyalle 150Kmiles PushButton 4wd.. just changed T-Belts, Oil Pump, H2O Pump(thanx again to the USMB for all the help in that project). Anyway now when I start the car I notice white smoke for about the first 15 min of driving. I think its either Head or gasket..wish I would have known this before all the other work(could have done it while I had it all apart) anyway anybody have any ideas on this. Also I never had/have any problems with overheating. I did read some post about pvc problems on early loyalle's causing white smoke but the link was bad so I couldnt follow up on it. Are my symptoms the same as the PVC problem? I did check for antifreeze smell from the exhaust when it is smokes but I dont notice any..but it my be to faint for me to notice it. Also if it might be a cracked head..would it cause more problems to keep driving it..at least till we get some warmer weather in the NorthEast I dont want to cause me anymore work than I have to when I do repair it. thanx..mike
  6. thanx for the reply, yesterday while doing some more work on the car I realized the gears slide right off the crankshaft shaft..so I was able to drive the pin back out with a punch.
  7. Once again I got to say thanx to all on this board..I gained valuable info on my subie and gave me the confidence to tackle this Tbelt/Oil pump/h2O pump project. While I had the crankshart pully off I seen a spring pin?(not sure what is is called looks like a smaller version of the pin that holds/locks the axle shafts to tranny). I needed to turn the motor to line up timing so I put the pully on but didnt notice the notch in the pully for the pin, so now I pushed the pin into the timing belt gear..any ideas if this is needed? If it is can I just get another pin and place it one of the other holes on the t-belt gear or do I need to somehow get the old one out?
