WRX front clip is the way to go.

I have a Bush inside the window sticker on all the other cars...can't do bumper stickers. But my views on the flag would probably surprise you. I am just as opposed to the pinheads who use it as an offensive symbol as I am to the pinheads who want to ban or control it. Every culture has a troubled heritage of some sort. So to those who would seek to censor and villify that image, they have something equally troubled in their heritage yet would never accept the same intrusion they commit. I fly the American flag with all 50 stars on it, I don't see how someone could find pride in the rebel flag. Lee, Jeff Davis, PGT Beuregard, these guys weren't romantic scamps who led some political party, they were treasonists and traitors who should have been hung for their crimes of bringing war upon their own nation. That is my stance. But I am nearly equally offended by the cultural facists who want to dictate to me what I can or cannot display and who further try to suggest I automaticly hold an entire pantheon of views because of a graphic on a car. To me the extent of the thing is that it was and still is a cool car from a TV show that I enjoyed as a kid, no different than Mad Max's interceptor or the Landmaster from Damnation Alley. Nothing more and nothing less. I refuse to cower out and leave the top blank to placate those who want a nice santized PC world. And I know your just poking, this was not directed at you. I know your a guy who would hear another fellow out. Also that pic is a Photoshop by a friends wife, Mine would be the only one unless someone copies me, that car in the pic does not exist. "imagine the looks you'd get in that thing?" Oh yeah, thumbs up, thumbs down, people laughing, waving with just one finger, it is all fine with me. The way I see it if I can P.O. both ends of the spectrum and give the reasonable folks in the middle a cheap laugh, then I have met my destiny. AND IT WILL HAVE THE HORN!!!

The EA81 is a stronger block, simpler design overall, gear driven cam where the EA82 had short lifespan timing belts, great oiling and coolant design where the EA82 had some shortcomings. All things considered the 81 is a damn strong simple pushrod engine. The EA81 was a transitional engine design leading up to the very well designed EJ series. The EA82 5 spd is a great tranny to mate up to the EA81, bolt up job for the most part. You will need to get a rear driveshaft made because the tranny is a different length. As for an engine solution. I would suggest using your EA81, with EA71 pistons to up the CR. Then drop on the EA82 SPFI manifold and system. It won't be as slick as the MPFI but it is still better than a carb.

In my opinion, the EA81 is a much more rhobust engine than the EA82. There is a small difference in HP between them, not enough to matter much at trail speed. I would suggest building an EA81 for more HP before swapping to an EA82. If going from an EA series to an EJ series such as the 22 or 25, then you have to consider that you will loose low range because the newer trannys are single range only and that would reduce the benefit of the swap. If you want to go through the trouble of swapping an EJ series engine to your original tranny that would be a solution to many problems with the added complexity of the bellhousing to engine adapter. I love the qualities and tuneability of EFI for sure, all things considered a swap to an EJ22 or EJ25 would be worth the trouble, I would also suggest going to the stronger dual range EA82 tranny that was in the Loyale wagon. It will allow you to keep a low range and add the huge improvement of 5 speeds that combo will enhance the driveability big time.

The SVX was a luxury-sportscar intruduced at the worst moment, just as the SUV boom was exploding and the luxury_sports car market was dying. It is a great car but a very different car from what I am talking about. I am wanting to see a bare bones monster driving machine. Mid/rear engine, 2 seater, 500Hp plus, tube space frame, composite/glass body, all the standards you see in a supercar. Plus all the vents and fins that go along with it. The SVX was selling in the 30s.

I wouldn't mind if they built a hybrid. I think the turbo engine option should be available on all cars, if you don't want it don't buy it. I really don't care what they roll out or option just as long as they continue to to develop the Impreza line as they have for the last 7 years. I would however love to see them sell a sports car in the 50~70k range that would be solidly in the supercar world given what they did with the STI at 32k.

cook out and suby meet in frederick md.

Sorry I could not attend, the nature of my job dictates I have to be at work often when others are off. -
That pisses me off. Anything I do is open and shared for everyone, other than my lack of time to post it on my site. What does someone have to loose by sharing a wiring diagram or mechanism unless they are making a product or at the upper end of compeditive racing. I am familiar with the LINK ecu, I installed one for a freind a few years back and it works well. If I may ask, why are you looking at using the mega system? Although a good system it doesn't come close to the LINK. Have you cooked up any maps for it yet? I am also considering using the Xede unit, but no firm decisions yet.

Nicely done! What sort of engine management are you using? I am interested in doing a paddle shifter for a 4EAT myself on another car. And I wonder if it would be easier to set up a J/K flip flop ciruit matrix or a PLC to control it or hack the stock TCU. There are some great programmamble relays out there, we used one on a pumkin cannon to fire a second burst of air midway in the barrel after the first one fired but after the pumpkin passed that point, but not too late...

"f i remember correctly, subaru puts in a speed govenor at 110mph.. all of the newer subarus that i have driven ( from the begining of the legacy and on) have stopped at 110..... im not sure about the imprezas though......" " So I take it then when you had the ECU reflashed, by Vishnu I assume, that gets rid of the factory speed cut?" Yep, speed limit, fuel cut, codes for whatever, just about anything can be suppressed or deleted. And YES any such driving was in an appropriate area and setting. The Lambaroo will be a 200Mph + car. The best I can say is that schools work, they are worth the money.

My 04 STI came right up to 170 but just a touch more would have had it hitting the rev limiter so that was the stopping point. It was also clearly the upper edge of any sort of reasonable aerodynamic performance. It is a sedan and not a wedge and it takes allot of power to shove that big thing through the air. If you want to perform well above 160 or so you pretty much need a wedge.

For 2gs, pick up a 2Ltr turbo WRX motor, ECU and harness. If you are careful about your sourcing and don't get fancy you can do it. Look for goodies and take off stock parts from WRX owners, collect all you can for free and just buy the major parts. Source any 5MT rather than buying a WRX takeoff because they are basicly the same tranny and can be had from a 2.2 Ltr Impreza for a fraction of the cost of a newer WRX unit, especially with a engine/tranny combo. For example, I just gave away a complete STI stock exhaust system and an RS turbo down pipe. Keep your eyes open and take your time. You will get 230HP starting with fantastic reliability and with a simple reflash you can go to 280 with no real impact on reliability.

What are you trying to measure with? The voltage will not be a steady reading, it is a series of pulses to turn the injector on and off in a duty cycle. You average multimeter may not be fast enough to read or display these pulses and it may appear to be 0 or constantly on, or any range of BS readings in between. What you need is an oscilliscope to look at the on-off pulses. You might want to take a step back and try a few things that are easier. Are all the other injectors firing? None of them? Are you hearing a ticking sound from the other three but not one? If so, swap out the injector and see if the problem travels. That will tell you if the injector is bad or not. If the injector is fine you could have a wiring problem or maybe the injector driver in the ECU is bad, but that is pretty rare. Can you provide a more detialed description of your problem?

Over 150k on my 99RS that was an EJ25 with an aftermarket turbo kit putting down just over 300Hp. And I now make the same 104 mile round trip commute in my STI putting down 463. Another fellow I work with bought a 2.2Ltr after I pointed him in that direction and left it bone stock, he makes about a 100 mile round trip too and is just over 200k now and probably twice that left to go. My brother's 84 EA81 wagon is well over 300 and he makes a 140 mile round trip 5 days a week. It is lifted, running big tires, about the only thing stock is the engine and tranny other than a webber in and better exhaust out.

Alright Meeky, all yours, Ed as a backup. I will have to look at my work schedule when I get there tommorow night and see what days are free for me in the next week or two. -
I am moving at the end of august and don't want this engine, and don't want to just trash it. Some timing components such as a belt, pulley, covers etc. have been removed but the core is good, it was pulled due to a pulley that delaminated and a stuck bolt, and the performance built one was ready. Yours free if you come get it. If I have to help you pick the heavy SOB up I want bottle of Maker's Mark, about the $45 size will do nicely. Of course if you feel generous bring one anyway. The deadline for this is Aug 20th, but the sooner the better. First post here gets it.

I was thinking it would be great to put the Bushwhacker rear flares on with the Dually kit after doing a 15in 6 lug conversion. Then stuff in an Isuzu 6cyl diesil, on a BRAT of course.

"First question is: what needs to be done to remove the AWD section of the tranmission? I am interested in using a late model Subaru engine in a 914 or x 1/9 in a Rwd only setup." The Subaru tranny can be modified, saker cars in Austrailia makes a kit to remove the rear output of the tranny and make it a transaxle. However the engine MUST be ahead of the wheels due to the rotation of the shafts. If I recall correctly the engine is behind the wheels on a 914. Adapting a 914 tranny to a Subaru EJ or EG or even EA series engine is a very simple affair in terms of it fitting. However a 300~600HP STI engine is going to make scrap metal out of a stock 914 tranny. Your going to need a tranny built for that HP. In the case of the Lambo the engine is ahead of the rear wheels meaning I can use any Subaru tranny that I want as long as it can take the HP. All I have to do is fab up mounts from the frame and bolt it in. The hard (expensive) part is having a shafts made up to mate to the Subaru output and the Corvette hubs.
