  1. I did the groundwork on doing just this but other projects got in the way. What I worked out is to use a Justy, Impreza front Xmember in the rear, Impreza hubs, A arms, struts etc. which would all be the right spring rate and everything would fall into alignment. And run tuned WRX motor with the 2WD auto. 225s in the front and some 285s in the rear.
  2. I could not agree more! We need to get people in early. When I went to SOA asking for support they wanted to see numbers, they are used to seeing the numbers of much larger new school events and turning those down. Yet, the folks I talked too looked further than that because of the nature of the show. When we didn't have but a dozen in advance registrations it looked bad and they lost enthusiasm. We need to get in early and make a good showing. I believe that based on the numbers who pledged to show next year, and the returning ones that we could do much better than the first year and get SOA's attention. Still we did do well this year and had a respectable showing. The west coast guys have huge meets and I know that this show could be THE east coast meet. Well, I am commited to doing my part.
  3. Well maybe you should bring one to the 3rd annual show! I regret that the BRAT wasn't there, but at least I had the STI there, next year both. It was a productive show for me, the day after I got back I closed the deal on a Lamborghini Diablo replica. I just might could have it ready for next year's show but I promise nothing given the complexities.
  4. Pictures are up! If anyone else has any snapped they need hosted let me know. The pictures from this years show are about halfway down the page. http://www.subarubrat.com/carslile2.htm
  5. They pulled the BRAT at the begining of the SUV boom. Introduced the XT and gave it less power than a family minivan. Introduced the SVX at the death of the luxury sports car boom of the late 80's early 90's Introduced the Baja after removing every feature that made it appealing. And now, this. At least the Outback and WRX will keep them afloat, but through how many blunders?
  6. NKX, Reduce them to 640x480 (that seems to be a reasonable size), email them to me and I will host them on my site.
  7. What a great show. I just rolled back in because we stopped in Manassas on the way back to see Star Wars. I will post my pics and a review tommorow. Of course I have to give proper thanks to all those who helped out, Subeman90 for the contribution toward the cause, our local who brought the cooler as promised and even had it topped off with ice, Melis for the nametags which were very well done, and everyone else whom I will try to recall when I post tommorow. It was great to see all our friends again, we didn't get a chance to thank the fellow who provided the 360 van again we looked up and saw it headed accross the field Sunday afternoon, Paul showed up from the VW club again to hang with us, good to see Paul again. The Audi and Saab clubs were pretty enveous of our private movie theater setup. And unless much changed since I left Hocrest still had the fastest lap times of the day in that SVX race car.
  8. I will be arriving Friday evening about 5 or 6 instead of noon, the rain is stillgoing and there is no point in getting there just to wait for it to stop to set up tents and such. See you all the the club tent this evening.
  9. Alright boys, the car and truck are packed. And we are ready to roll in the morning. For those of you brave enough to hang with the late night crew (lets hope Paul and kanuck show up too) I am bringing a projector and DVD player as well as a 9x8Ft screen for movies at the club tent. See you all there!
  10. We WILL have a tent there one way or the other so we WILL have a club area. There are about a dozen confirmed folks coming so we will be having this event. I will be arriving about noon on Friday to get things set up. Look forward to seeing all of you there! It is not too late to register and attend if you are so inclined!
  11. People, All I can say is that if we don't have the balance of registrations in by two weeks from today we will NOT have a club tent and club area. If your waiting to register now is the time.
  12. Am I the only person that can't make out the words on the bumper sticker? I just got my contacts updated too. Whatever it is I notice that nobody is suggesting it be removed. Someone actually demanded that I remove my Bush bumper sticker before going to a Subaru show. Eh, nothing that can be put on a sticker short of treason/aid and comfort to the enemy, could upset me.
  13. The main thread is sort of buried in the seldom traveled meet and greet forum so I wanted to post a small notice here in the main area to let everyone know that it is coming up soon. Read all about it! http://www.subarubrat.com/carslile.htm
  14. 9 DOWN 16 TO GO! TIME TO REGISTER TO ENSURE THE CLUB AREA!!! I will be bringing 4 cases of my own special beer this year. Su-Brew is a Octoberfest syle beer that will definatly refresh.
  15. Man that one bites, your such an integral part of the night shift at Carlisle, if you can trade any other weekend you know we are all about you showing up. Currently we have 8 registrations down and 17 to go to reserve our club area, about parallel with last year's progress. Please don't wait till the last moment to register, it's just $15 and the sooner you do it the better off we all are. Cross promotion on the other boards should start today. But please do your part on other Subaru boards to spread the word! Lets try and show the west coast folks we can do it just as well as they can! I have just ordered 6 flags for our club area in addition to the large one we had last year. 3 of those and 3 of these http://www.subarubrat.com/carslile.htm
  16. Tell me about it. Promoting the brand seems to be a negative for them in general. SOA isn't much warmer than your local dealer for that matter.
  17. As stated above leave the intake alone. The exhaust with the cobb kit is a full turbo back replacement, by itself good for only a marginal gain, you need the whole package to realize the braoder powerband and greater increased output. Why go $1100 for a 10 Hp gain when you can go for 50~60 Hp for $1600? As far as the struts, I am not talking about the bars (unless you meant sway bars) the strut top bars are a gimmick piece of eye candy that don't do anything but waste money. The chassis is very stiff as is and you won't gain anything meaningful with the strut tower bars. What I am reffering to is replaceing the strut itself and the spring with STI units that were pulled from an STI that upgraded to something else. I did this on my RS before I got my STI and makes it a whole different car.
  18. WELL DONE! You must bring that to the East Coast Subaru Show in may! http://www.subarubrat.com/carslile.htm
  19. I am putting down just a hair over 450Hp with the Vishnu kit and I have a stock BOV. It won't ruin your driveability but it will impact it, so why do it? I agree it sounds great, and IF I could get the sound without the perfomance hit I would do it.
  20. Although I HATE autos, I have to accept that not everyone can drive a manual (or has not been trained) and that they do exist. I would reccomend the Cobb reflash via their accessport and their aftermarked exhaust. For about $1600 this will get you a conservative tune of 285 HP, safe and mild as mods go. Then I would get a set of STI strut and sping take-offs. If you shop around you can get a good price on this. While this won't make it an STI, it will improve handeling but not become abusive on the road, and give you more punch without huge impacts on fuel economy and reliability.
  21. Moving on, I have secured some more Subaru banners and marking tape to mark off our area from the folks who insisted on parking their tow vehicles and what not in our area last year. If anyone can take the time to hit up their local dealer for some banners or promotional materials etc. that would be great. I have sent a written request to SOA for support at the event in whatever capacity they can see fit. Of course they have chosen to take a very stand off approach to fan run events. We shall see. I also drafted a letter to their show vehicles dept to request a few vehicles for the show. I do not expect them to do this, they have only done this at very big events such as vehicle debuts, TV air time events and such. But hey, does it hurt to ask? http://www.subarubrat.com/carslile.htm
