  3. Killing enemy terrorists isn't politics.
  4. Ordinarily I would be upset when someone bombs a Subie, but the Isralies get a pass on this one. Kill em all
  5. put the smaller tire on an axle without an LSD, which the front does not, and then don't drive too fast or too harsh and you will be fine.
  6. For all when went last year and all who plan on going again in 05 and those who will be attending for the first time, this forum is going to be a great central point for event planning. http://www.carlisleforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4
  7. I am fabricating a tubular frame set, plan to have them ready for the East Coast 2nd annual show at Carlsile.
  8. Will one of them be ready for Carlsile? And what are your plans?
  9. Check on Ebay, there are guys selling (bootleg) copies of several shop grade CD based manuals.
  10. I posted in my local forum, Mid Atlantic I am a mod there, which mod in TX is the guy I need to talk to?
  11. In short, I have run into a paperwork SNAFU that is becoming a major problem. The 04 STI is not in the book that banks and dealers use to determine loan values in which case they use the invoice paperwork. The dealer that has this STI does not have he invoice as they are not a Subaru dealer. An invoice for ANY 04 STI will work but local dealers are being stubborn. I am now into day 3 of this mess and if anyone can help out please call me at 540-439-4959 day or 703-724-8111 night or email me, it would be a tremndous help.
  12. That engine has been put into the Gen1 BRAT, it was not too long ago maybe a year or so that a fellow here on the board posted his.
  13. Which will be far more expensive and less functional in all respects than just buying the commercially available lift kit. To do a suspension lift right costs allot in money and time and involves major fabrication, upgrade to strut inserts, changed geometry etc. Even then you still pay the price in axle life.
  14. Start checkign your local yards. I paid $220 for the case, front and rear shafts, and intermediat shaft, shifter and mounts. Prices vary, I was quoted twice that from another place so shop around.
  15. SVX for sure, grab a twin turbo EJ20 from ebay for 1k and have a blast.
  16. Dude, I have been running it that way for a year, I assure you it works. The truck is finished and the shaft is in place. That pic was during construction.
  17. I would use the stock Y pipe, weld on a 45 and a 90 deg joint where it joins so that it kicks over then up. Run a short section up about level with the Cyl head and weld your up pipe flange there. The turbo can sit in that empty area behind the Cyl bank and next to the tranny. Throw in a Air to Water IC (several models of Subarus had these, and your good to go. Also, I would not even consider using the stock pistons for boost. The Cyl and heads are fine but those pistons are way too thin and the shape is all wrong.
  18. The diff is right side up. Here is a pic.
  19. I nuked reverse in one tranny, the second one has been fine. The major problem is stub axles and axle cups. When you run over 3 times the stock HP and tires that big you are pushing what the components can handle. The trannys are pretty stout at stock HP and 30s or under.
  20. Domestic STI is about it, unless you want to import an older one such as the 22B or some of the RA type trannys. All big bucks. The hit you will take on an open center diff is meaningless compared to the gains of going to the EJ drivetrain, in particular if you go to the turbo EJ20 or EJ22.
  21. I would like to see them do a dual line like Toyota/Lexus Honda/Accura etc. That way they could produce low buck low frills 4wd cars and the line they are moving to. That said, there is no question they are much better organized on marketing and product today than they were. At one point they were seriously considering pulling out of north America all together but the upmarked Outback wagon saved them. They had been cancelling cars when the market would support them best (like killing the BRAT at the start of the SUV explosion) and introducing cars at the worst times (like the SVX when the luxury sports cars were sitting on the lots unsold).
