which clutch should i buy?
subarubrat replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Clutchmasters can make you up to a FX300 using the clutch core. I had them do a segmented Kevlar for me and it has held up perfectly. They also have clutch kits for around 200 that are better than OEM and what you will get from Autozone. Just go to http://www.clutchmasters.com for the regular kit or if you want to have them make up a higher performance one: http://www.clutchmasters.com./shop/ClutchMastersCustomOrderPage.doc -
The difference between a pet and vermin is the owner. If my son's dog is out of the house he is on a leash and under supervision. He is not out damaging property. Piss rots tires. The owner who allows that dog to run wild in the neighborhood and damage property sure as heck isn't going to hand me a grand to replace 4 tires. So his "best and only friend" is now my vermin.

YES!!! The BRAT is mechanically 90% done and runs like a raped ape right now. I have some shock mount work to do, winch mount, roll bar, and paint to finish it out. I am sure that there are a few other detials but they don't stand in the way of running it. And let's do some rain dances, the more mud the better my prospects.

POR15 is a permanent solution treatment. Lets say you have a rusty piece of sheet metal that is not rusted through and still sound. You brush off the loose stuff and treat the pannel with POR15 and then paint over that with what ever finish you choose. It is also good for treating areas that are prone to rust. I have used a combination of POR15 and stainless sheet metal for all rust repairs on the BRAT. I am not too far from declairing it rust free. POR15 is expensive but worth every penny, so is stainless. But I know that an area fixed this way will never give me a problem again.

I would hate to put it off for 4 months but what about having it at the first Rally cross of the season (March) in Orange VA. It is central between Warrenton and Charlottesville. Jay makes it up that way for the RallyXs, and it is pretty close for the people in N. Virginia. And for any MD folks it is about 2 hours from the far side of D.C.

What happened to all the Jeeps CJ5/CJ7 anyway? They used to be everywhere and now I haven't seen one in years. It hasn't been that long since they went out of production.

If your up to it, you are invited to stop by my house for some beer and Space Invaders on Sunday. 22734 is the Zip for your mapquest pleasure. And I would love to see that 360. That IS my next major project, I am stuffing a Hyabusa engine and tranny in one (turbo'd of course). 240Hp, 7 speeds and a 12,000rpm redline.

There is a dog in my neighborhood that whizzes only on my BRAT's tires, can you come cruise through? The little beggar won't drink antifreeze and I can never catch him in the act.

The VA /MD Lightning and Impreza owner's clubs are teaming up to do a meet at Cooter's in Sperryville VA. I am leaving the Impreza at home for this one and taking the BRAT. If anyone else can come along and help represent old school you are most welcome. I am going to be meeting up with them in Warrenton VA on the way to Cooters. If you are interested in joining us there here is the info: Per ButtDynos suggestion, I am happy to announce here that we have our fall 03 Cooters Cruise coming up Saturday November 22nd. As you may have heard by now, Cooter is moving to Tennesse after November is over. So this will be our sendoff cruise for Cooter. The cruise will be in conjunction with the Northern Virginia Lighting Owners & Performance Enthusiasts club, so our goal is to have at least 50-75 cars and trucks in attendance. Help spread the word as it is open to everyone!!!!! For those that have never went, Cooters is a small place in Sperryville VA where Cooter (aka Ben Jones) hangs out, signs autographs, takes pictures and they have Dukes of Hazzard memoribilia for sale. He is an extremely down to earth guy that is very easy to talk to. Maybe we can get a picture with him in a Lightning doing a huge burnout or something._ The cruise takes us through Gainsville, out past Warrenton into Sperryville. Skyline drive is just a few miles past Cooters for those that wish to continue on. Also, there are several winerys along the way. Anyway, here are the details for the_Fall Cooters Cruise: When:_ Saturday November 22nd Time:_ Meet in Manassas at 10:15AM Where to Meet:_ Parkridge Center Parking Lot (Old Navy, Hoyts Theatre shopping Center) NOVA Departure at 9:15AM from the Kingstowne KOHLS Parking Lot in Alexandria! Depart to Cooters:_ 10:50AM Sharp Description:_ We will be getting in cruise formation at the Shopping Center parking lot._ There is easily room for 50-100 cars and trucks at the parking lot._ Our goal is to have 75 or more vehicles participate._ We will get in cruise formation(driving directions) at 10:45AM and leave promptly by 10:50AM._ We will take the same route as our past_cruises to Cooters Garage in Sperryville VA._ Driving directions to Cooters will be available at the meet point._ Alma (Cooters wife) told me that she had the parking_reserved for us again._ So we have room for everyone._ Also, the Food Shack will again be open!!!_ They will be serving hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries, catfish and BBQ._ It takes approximately 1 hour to get to Cooters._ Once there, you will be able to meet and greet with Cooter, take plenty of pictures, buy Dukes of Hazzard Gifts and food._ Please Invite anyone you think would like to participate! And as with any Crossroad Event, we dont give a damn what you drive, BRING IT! I hope to see you there on the 22nd of November

It is starting to get cold down here so I turned on the heater and got no response from the blower. I checked fuses, wiring diagrams, and was just about ready to start tracing down the problem when it dawned on me as I was looking at a shop manual picture of the blower motor. During the original gutting of the interior the AC and all it's parts went in the dumpster (after they were offered for free and nobody picked them up). I removed the blower motor and never reinstalled it. That was 2 hours down the drain.

whats my 4x good up too????
subarubrat replied to subawoohoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The speed isn't the limitation. The problem is turning on pavement or high traction surfaces with the 4WD engaged. The binding can be inconvenent at best and destroy an axle or worse if you are unlucky. As long as you are using the 4WD off road OR on snowy roads (or other low traction surfaces) you are fine. -
I have the up and down pipes on my Impreza Jet Hott coated, 100k no problems.
-
Sorry, yes the 4/3.

With that tire size, just do the 4 inch lift and forget the suspension lift and you will retain stock suspension geometry and skip that process and problems.

How to increase fuel pressure?
subarubrat replied to whiplash-smile's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
On my Impreza with aftermarket turbo I use larger injectors and a RRFPR (rising rate fuel pressure regulator) this increases the fuel pressure in relation to boost. It would be a good solution on it's own for the EA82T. -
I got my camber back in line, dead on zero with no way I could squeeze in any positive and believe me I worked that one. On the EA81 get ready to dish the inner fender well in the front, wear CV joints like tires and in the rear, get ready to move brackets on the tortion bar tube and ditto on the CVs. daily driver not worth it for most off road or play toy, Oh yes. But looking at the EA82 the front seems doable but the rear is a nightmare.
