Oh hey I am in the top photo!

can you post photos of the hoses in question? and maybe an "overview" photo of the whole mess? That might help us determine which model you have, and which options- because there were many different possibilities on how it "should" look depending on each car's equipment... Also, if you are not required to meet any sort of government regulated standard of emissions control in your area, you can remove a lot of these hoses and actually improve the performance, and clean up the engine bay- I am doing that to my girfriends 86 GL wagon today in fact! I will try to take photos of my progress, and hopefully they will be helpful to you.. Probably will have them up later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks nope still have not finished the DR linkage... been busy with work and moving to an apartment (with no garage ) as far as the steeering goes- yeah, I should probably build a spare with better welds, but hey, it has not broken yet, and I even tested it full force - (I smacked into a stump with the passenger side wheel, bending the A arm, AND my rim. steering works fine still I should update this thread... hmm... where did those photos go? I work till 330 in seattle.. won't be rolling out till about 4pm, which puts me at home around 530/630 depending on traffic (where I need to load up camping gear, and the dog) and that's another 2 hours down to Kelso via hwy 507 (much prettier, and less traffic than I-5, btw if anyone wants to roll that way with me!) But I would love to caravan down... anyone want to meet up in Spanaway around the dinner hour for the final section of the convoy?

I am planning to camp friday night and wheel a bit of saturday then head home after that... this should be fun! (and as an added bonus, Waterwagon IV now has dual range! so I think I can make it UP 311 to the top...)

yes, solar shower was the idea behind it, but also, have you ever been out wheelin or campin, or working on the car and you just wanted some water to wash up with that was close by? it has been very handy already and i have not even used it as a shower yet (also, when you need water for the dog, yourself or the radiator, it's there!)

annnnd time for more pics! Got the water tube installed! (pressurizer is not installed yet, that will come later when I figure out the best way to do it) I removed the non-functional AC stuff, and swapped out my transmission finally for the D/R!! (USDM single range AWD on the left, JDM D/R on the right) I was part way thru swapping the mounting pieces, etc.. my girlfriend and my dog tested out the "camping mode" of the roofrack, while I worked on a friends car... haha My interior is also being converted into more utility/camping too- now, I just need to either find JDM D/R linkage for the trans, or make something myself... hmmm..... I also need outback shift linkage (is it slightly longer than legacy stock? I have trouble shifting into 2nd due to the angle created by the installing of the lift kit)

and now for a little action shots- I took it up to Evans Creek, and realized how important it is to have a dual range, and extra nuts and bolts (neither of which I had on this trip, but I made due and will return properly prepared next time!) the thing I had trouble with, was my lift bolt that holds the forward swing arm link for the rear suspension came out! I had to "borrow" a bumper bolt from the rear bumper and a lug nut to make it out of there!! fortunately, I made it home- and found that most of the bolts in my rear suspension were loose!! lesson learned= after installing a lift kit, (especially when using air tools) make sure to go back and re-tighten all the bolts after driving a few hundred miles, so that all the parts get settled in... oops!

and yet another update! I got the base of the roofrack built, soon to have lights and equipment for camping mounted to it

alrighty then! now it's time to install this into my car- since troy got the last one in his wagon, I managed to find another one

another update... got some more metal goodies from SJR!! (I still need to paint it, and add my splash/skid pan but here is the first look!) oh, and here is a night (cell phone) photo of my HID headlights on the highway... they work pretty well

got one more thing checked off the list of upgrades... hahahaha oh look, who has more ground clearance? yep.. me!

Yep, they are zip ties- they are tied to little self-adhesive zip-tie tie-points (little square plastic pads with loops for zip ties!) and they just stick to the window trim so far has held up against highway speed, rain, and even some branches hitting it!

So I just got a new job! And I have been working down in Rainier, OR, (and staying in Kelso, WA) the job puts us up in a hotel, so of course after work I have not much to do.. so I have been doing some exploring in the area- trying to find some offroad "test" areas to play in that's not too far away... my review of the tires I have- is that they do not work well in slick mud! (the tread blocks are too small, and don't grip the mud or clear out easily....) they do work ok in beach sand, not super awesome, but ok... and of course, awesome on the highway- not too loud, and maintain decent gas mileage so I dont have any exciting pics yet, since all I had with me after work was my phone camera, but here are a few offroad shots! yep, there is a little clutch smoke coming out too... its steeper than it looks- and the mud was really slick!

couple more pics... visited SJR once more.. got a bumper in the works soon... today, helped Matt get his 87 D21 pickup running finally! (timing woes) and then I gave Waterwagon IV it's first bath since I've owned it... also, in case anyone has wondered- the tire size offset with the speedometer- I did a test using an older GPS to verify speed - now the speedo seems to read dead on accurate.. guess it was reading higher than you were actually going before (that would explain why everyone was always "speeding" past me... And, with larger tires, the RPMs have been reduced at crusing speed- here is 5th gear at 60mph... more mods and more photos on the way!

Well, so far I have not tested it with submerging i water- but for regular on road driving/ highway, it seems to work just fine- if there was any sort of power loss, it may only be when at or near full throttle, which I dont do very often at all (fuel saving reasons lol) But yes, a shop vac hose! Very budget, yet functional, snorkel!

the racks are easy to change out- if you find one from a good parts doner, might be good to grab both the pump and rack.... just for piece of mind if anything on another note, my friend and I discovered that you can install an EA82 standard (non power steering) rack into a legacy.... and even with 27" BFG tires and a lift kit- it steers easily! not that I would reccomend that to anyone, but in case you were wondering

we found a little dirt pit to play in tonight... figured out that the D/R is very much a helpful thing to have! (my wagon does not have it yet, but troy's does!) and, skid plates definately should be installed soon! (I almost killed my oil pan on a rock!)

This could be fun.... and maybe a place to find our cars around in the street view! Post up a screen shot of your browser window running google street view (or other similar mapping software) if you spot a cool subaru- I was inspired when i was "touring" around the Spokane area in the street view, and I came across an awesome looking gen 1 brat! (anyone know who this is??) The easy one's to post obvously, will be shots of the car posted in your driveway/work/etc.. but catching a shot of one like this randomly on the highway? awesome!
