  1. ok, i got a full car now  so heres the plan.... I will head out there Friday night, and do some evening wheelin.... I will find a place to park, set up "camp" and then head to bed after some mini partying... next morning, wakup at dawn, and begin playing around! so if anyone plans on joining me, come find the blue impreza (likley to be covered in mud) and a blue brat! or call 206-856-7797 (cell phone) See ya there!
  2. Yep! I am heading out into the woods in the impreza! I took it out with Carl and his Brat, last friday in the night- had a full load of people as usual, but the imp ran the hobbit trail just fine (and I actually had to go around 2 lifted trucks that were taking forever squezing thru the trees ) but yeah.. anyone intersted, I am back in the game I will probably head out there in the evening on friday- (i work) and I will probably wheel a little bit in the evening depending on what time I get there, but I will be crashing at Carl's place (he lives across the river from Reiters!) or maybe I will just camp out at Reiters, up one of the roads, in the imp then some wheelin' in the AM! (need good light for pics!) ~open diffs~AWD~5spd~no lift~ I can show you how its done! ~Austin
  3. Thanks for everyone who set up and ran the show, it was a fun time for sure! It was also good to meet more people from the board in person! I did not take as many pictures as I have in the past, but I did upload all of the ones I did take in my "WCSS9" gallery on my smugmug site- http://ratty2austin.smugmug.com here are a few of my pics that kinda show some of the fun that was had a little too much fun for my impreza... :-p here is the mud hill climb area... happy passengers along for the muddy ride camp.... heres Sparky! (yar! arrrg!) imprezas and such... crazy people... (besides me) pretty soon it seemed like everyone was going up the hill! Rob, showing them how its done! and this is how much mud I left the show with... thanks for coming, see you all again next year! (hopefully) ~Austin
  4. btw, its running again not quite ready for the road or trails yet, but its moving along well mine=cheap lights btw...

    hehehe

wow!! hey Jerry! nice job!!! now I need to come down to Yakima to see this thing and visit you of course nice work! ~austin
  6. I am still around... being lazy... and this is the reason I have not been out on the trails... its running.. barely.. and I just have not had time or the modivation to finish this beast... but it will be soon! I hope...
  7. anything is possible.... it depends on how much $$ and time you are able to put into the project.. bolting up that engine should not be a problem- it will fit into that body of car, but the problem will be getting all the wiring to work, as the EZ30 is OBDII or that new networking stuff? much more advanced than the EG33, which is a much larger engine... but yes, it can be done.
  8. I will have to take you up on that one  I am almost ready for the DR swap... once I get the thing running better... and check the axles Ive got.. and ... do you do the driveshaft lengthen/shorten?
  9. Thanks to Noah, for helping me out with the harness mod, (aka, standalone EJ22 harness) and some PITA wire sorting working with 2x EJ harnesses in one car... (I did not remove the EJ18 stuff, just unhooked it and set it aside for now) oh, and a really crusty engine that needs lots of help but I got waterwagon to drive around the block under its own power tonight!!! here was during the install... lots of cleanup to do still.. and I need to try to figure out why its not idling like its supposed to.. it stumbles, and has no oomph... perhaps a sensor or 3 is malfunctioning? now its time to troubleshoot..
  10. Noah makes a nice standalone "kit" aka wire harness.... belive he charges about 200 or so and you supply the harness, ecu, and sensor stuff.. I just got waterwagon running tonight, using the standalone harness!!!
  11. hehe... nothing like going from 170+HP in an RS to 65~HP in a Brat welcome to the board
  12. sounds good.. we will have to get a few parts.. and put the engine back into it too... I can try to get that done saturday... I need a few electronics for the intake, and the PS pump... and... ... lots of things probably oh yeah, a battery people are welcome to come hang out at the new monster garage episode- "waterwagon2, the ressurection"
  13. hmmm..... big maybe here... I dont need a tree (I use plastic trees :-p ) and that weekend is the motorcycle show at the qwest thingy... I dont know what day I will have for doing what.. but I will see.... at least the legacy has snow tires and it drives now
  14. DO NOT use stop leak of any kind.. this will clog up a subaru engine and or the radiator.. I know from experience.. get it fixed the right way, you will spend less time and money in the long run.... and I agree, its most likley a leaky heater core.. I replaced my own core in my first wagon- an 83GL, it took my friend and I about 8 hours, and cost about 80 bucks for the core from schmucks auto parts... after that the smell went away, and I had a warm and dry car
  15. would that work with a legacy 2.2 though? matt melon had a 95.5 impreza brighton, and it was ODBII, and it was even a 1.8... I just wonder if that would work....
  16. the plugs on the ECU and where they go to the engine, are completely different.. on the legacy the engine harness plus are near the battery, on the impreza they are on the other side of the engine near the tranny... on the ECU itself, there are 4 plugs on the legacy box, and 3 plugs on the impreza's (or something like that)
  17. passenger room, and Decent gas milage http://www.fl-sprinter.com/Pass/pass.html
  18. well.... I WAS running it with the EJ18 stuff, but its not working properly (not just the EGR stuff..) I have had trouble with the ECU before I installed the EJ22.. like a random CEL that would pop on and cause default mode to turn on.. at random.. very annoying... the select monitor brought up an "Idle system malfunction" but all related parts to the idle system measured fine.. it stumped the techs at Carter too.. and the EJ18 wiring does not have a knock sensor for timing advance... and.. the EJ22 cars stock have always felt way more powerful than my impreza did WITH the EJ22 longblock in there.. so something is messed up and I would like to get the engine and ECU matched up better.. and.. Emissions is due! :-\ it was not going to pass with the default mode coming on all the time... heck.. it barely drives that way... so a rewire is in order!
  19. hehe thanks Zap for editing my previous post (like the first page :-p ) havent checked on this thread after the old gallery went offline heres one I think people would like to see Chux knows about this place yes.. the car is actually floating!
  20. this seems to be the hold up for everyone... howabout we get a schematic compiled for the most commonly used years, and post it in the USRM? (or maybe sticky in this forum?) ya know, a schematic, a simplified one for the "plug n play" EJ miniharness
  21. thats easy for you to do that on an EA car... the problem I am having..... is that I am going to be trying to EJ-convert... an EJ car! aka 2 harness of equal sizes to deal with !!
  22. so i have been looking at the schematics Ive recieved from you (thanks!) but its still a diffficult task, as I would like to do as little removing as possible.. or splicing for that matter- idea I had, was to use the new ECU, and the new intake assembly with wiring, and use most of the existing harness... the thing I would do is to (first I need a schematic for a 93/94 impreza with an EJ18) make an adaptor to go between the correct terminals on the ECU connector to the harness side.. (aka, make an ECU adaptor) and any of the wires that are not in the EJ18 harness, I could run seperately (eg. knock sensor) to the engine.. as for the Engine side of things, I would do the same- I would just make an "adaptor" or maybe just hack off the engine plugs and install the correct ones that would work with the EJ22 harness... any thoughts? anyone have an 93/94 impreza FSM I could borrow? Corky? (I dont really want to have the "rats nest" under the hood again if I can help it :-p ) oh, and I also am interested in buying/trading for an EJ22 stock Y pipe and related O2 sensor. thanks again!
  23. have fun guys! sorry I cant make this one.. impreza that doesnt run kinda wont do so well offroad lol!
  24. you are correct as always- they are different.. thus the reason I got a different intake manifold (from what I have been using) *with* the corresponding ECU and wiring harness :-p I am basically going to have a seperate harness for the engine, as it will be mostly stock legacy parts there.. and the existing impreza harness will just remain mostly unused/spliced into? I have to figure this all out.. but I am using a 91ish legacy motor and intake/electronics so the wires are all fubared up :-\
