Who has schematics for EJ stuff? pinouts for the ECUs?
Ratty2Austin replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
nope... i would have been all over that if they did.. in fact, I havent seen an EJ22 impreza at the lynnwood yard... ever? (I know they have had them, but all the times I have gone there, none to be found :-\ ) but they have a whole bunch of pre-92 legacys! -

thanks chux!!! I better get right on this now and start the wiring! -
Weellll.... so I got a harness and intake and ECU from PAP for a score of a deal at 31 bucks but.... now that I got the correct intake manifold on the EJ22 in my impreza.. I need to splice in the new ECU... I am not doing a full harness swap, due to it being an impreza and splicing in a legacy harness... a non complete one too (I did not grab the dash components, just the harness between engine=ECU=fuseboxes) I am wondering if anyone has info on the pinouts for the ECUs, specifically the EJ18 in a 94 impreza L MT5 AWD wagon, and a 91 legacy L AWD 4EAT wagon.... or.. the simplified harness for EJ-EA installs? (kennedy?) it sucks that I have to do an EJ conversion on a car thats already EJ! but its dead now, so the ball is rollin!!! Need to get it running soon, as it needs to pass emissions before the end of OCT to be licensed.... (and the sooner I get it running good, the sooner I can finish the offroad mods and play up at reiters/EC ) let me know if anyone has this I can get a copy or borrow, or? thanks!

I think you should have those headlights on the probe looked at.. they arent opening up all the way.. they must be broken!

I would like to go, but.. the imp has to undergo some more mods and repairs.. before too long, I will need to rewire/ECU the whole car.. (probably dash and wiring removal and reinstallation) and.. I still need to work on more of the offroad mods that I had mentioned to you and noah- hpss2 sounds like a definate must have this winter

do not get outback SPORT struts.. those are impreza struts and will be shorter or same height as what you are trying to replace.... they need to be OUTBACK LEGACY or forester struts I used 99 forester struts in my imp FYI lotsa lift

if they ordered correctly (that would be my first assumption on a shop, aka they probably ordered a part via vin #, in which case you would just end up with the same as before...) or.. the guy has no idea what he is talking about and is just not understanding... but I would think its the wrong part ordered.. have him look at the new strut and the old strut side by side, and check the length of the base of the strut.. there should be about an inch or 2 more length between the camber bolt holes and the bottom of the spring...

my friend keeps a collection of old subaru keys with him... and unless its a new lock in a subaru, he has so far been able to open all the subarus he has tried with at least one of his keys -

woohoo! thanks for those pics.. now here is my collection ... just got finished uploading the car show portion of my pictures.. (I have some artzy-fartzy shots from some rocky areas of Eastern Washington, and some waterfall/underwater pics from Deception Falls on hwy2 I will have those uploaded soon) here is my gallery enjoy! -
parts list= 1. subaru to be lifted 2. new or used struts to be the lifters (in your case, 4 new OB shocks+OB springs?) front struts will bolt in. I think all EJ years and types are interchangeable as far as bolt pattern top and bottom) 3. Rear strut caps/hats might be different. its up to you to buy these with your new struts... I used the old ones off my car cause the bolt pattern was different on the new ones, so the old ones just went on the new struts and they bolted on the car. you will not need new camber bolts unless yours are damaged... just re-use the old ones unless you feel like putting new ones in for the heck of it hope this helps! dont worry- the swap is pretty easy- the height comes from the 1. strut bottom length and 2. new capable tire height with the new strut height (aka, you can now put larger sidewall tires on and gain a little height here too)

Looks like a project I want to kinda sorta do.. only I am still driving the car I would be doing it to see you at the show right? I can tell you more about my idea later yes... EJ22 is the way to go.. forget that EA stuff carbs suck! besides.. with the EJ coilpack instead of a disty, think of all the trouble free water crossings! I should know.. I have tested it! (although timing belt bearings dont hold up after a few months from being dipped under iron silt water)

I would buy outback struts, and the springs to go with them... this will give you the height that you want.. the 15" rims dont have to be changed.. there are lots of tires available for that size wheel.. I have an impreza L wagon, and I put 99 forester struts and springs on it (the only mod needed was the rear strut cap needed to be swapped, so the install was forester front strut complete- and the rear was a forester strut+forester spring+impreza rear cap) this gave me lots of lift.. and I can now run 215/75 R15 BFG A/T tires- see in the pic this might be too much for what you want, but all you would have to do is get some more reasonable sized tires.. like the stock outback or forester sizes... 205/70R15 approx... tire tread up to your choice

I decided to burn a few more copies of my "Subaru Offroad" DVDs, and the ones from WCSS7 and WCSS6 too, so I will have a few of these at the show for sale... probably $5 ea, or "donation" amounts... cause I'm not a vendor 'n stuff but either way, I will be bringing some of the good footage, and my compter for viewing, was someone planning to bring a projector? See you all at the show!!! now I just need to remember to bring the video camera....
