I have a 94 imp wagon, with the 5spd awd, wich makes it a 4.11 due to year (and used to have an EJ18, now is EJ18/22 hybrid= EJ18 intake+exhaust, EJ22 longblock) the stock 5spd AWD, is not low enough geared to do anything good offroad by comparison to the 4EAT or the EA 5spd D/R... especially with my 27" BFG AT tires I would like to see some fabbing (at least more than whats available now) of lift kits (similar to the PK easy to install and just as high quality) and the adaptor kit (plate EA-EJ and flywheel and crossmember to match.) other than that the bumpers, skid plates, roofracks, light racks are pretty simple fabbing that anyone should be able to do with some stuff from the scrap yard or local hardware store/home improvement center here is my imp.. few shots, some of them out of date, but you get the idea lighting kinda sucks, but you can see the metal bumper and pvc tube rack up top need lift! need DR!

1100cc motorcycle engine and tranny in a justy?
Ratty2Austin replied to offroadsubaruguy's topic in Subaru Transplants
most of the modern cruisers from honda, ect are shaft drive.. the bmw boxer is shaft (and a 2 cyl boxer ) but your only looking to get about 100 to 150 HP from a motorcycle engine i would find a wreked hayabusa, and try to get that chain driven thing to bolt up somehow.. it could be done.. just build a sproket adaptor somewhere in the car.. or build a front diff that is chain driven... I still thing a justy might be too heavy for even a fast bike engine? -
I still think we should get a "media" or "photos n videos" sub forum here.. but I guess I cant do it, being I am not a moderator n stuff... but.. I can post my pictures from a gallery, and I guess meet n greet will have to do for now, as it has the whole time!.... so for those of you who are interested, I have uploaded many of my pictures online, lots to the USMB gallery.. but I recently started using smugmug.com (not free, but its a very nice img hoster!) and I just uploaded some top picks from WCSS6 and WCSS7, along with some evans creek stuff and some other pics (like, people pictures, and my motorcycle trip cross country, with lots of scenery pictures too!) I am not going to overload the bandwidth on the board, but I will pass along this link, and I might post a picture or 2 here sometime soon if i can think of any good ones but heres my gallery for those who want to check it out! (its pretty simple, i have the albums labeled...) enjoy!

yep... so before anyone else makes this mistake, please review your VIN number, and then you will know the correct engine/body designation of your car, and thus not upsetting Dr RX mine is a GF2 (1st gen wagon, EJ18) anywho, that will be one cool swap! do you think you are getting it done before the show??

Evans Creek today in the imp, took 311 alone...
Ratty2Austin replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Off Road
oh yeah, the part on 311 that was the hardest part for us subarus, is even harder now.. due to erosion from trucks and weather, ect.... it was hard going down! -
well, not the best of days for me.. got some work to do on the impreza to make it better on the trails- but heres the pics from todays little trip... next time i go out, I want to hit up Reiters, whos up for that?
-
so whats the plan? anyone going at a particular time? I never did any repairs to my car.. but its still driveable, and I have the motorcycle all fixed up in case of a car-tastrophy (so i can get to work, blah blah) I might be down to show up for part of one of the days.. maybe run the imp up 311 or something

Recycling the old subarus...
Ratty2Austin replied to kayakertom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
when i was recycling parts off old subarus, i would try to save anything that was still useable, like straight body panels, or suspension parts that would be bent or damaged while offroading (A arms, moustache bars) things that are still rebuildable or could be used as cores (brake calipers, axles, ect) but thats a good that more people are recycling though -
monday night (well, 1am tuesday morning) I fly back to MN, to get the impreza and all my other belongings too in the trailer! so sometime thru that week, I will be passing thru ND or SD? along I-90/I94 all the way thru MT, ID and E-WA to home.... so if anyone wants me to meet up with them, let me know before I head out on my big journey! (again!) see you folks on the road

seems like everyone is doing their harness a different method than what I used.. so its going to be hard for me to assist online, but I may be able to come take a look one of these days here when I get some time.. I used only the EA starter wire, and changed nothing in the EA harness (just disconnected it, and removed the coil I also hardwired the fuel pump to ign. so that it was just on when the car was switched on.. wired the main harness power to the hot lead that went to the coil (ign "on" ) and that made it so when i turned on the key, the EJ harness was powered and "on" and then turned the key, and the EA start wire still turned the starter then it worked!

yep... you should see the same combo roll thru.. the imp with a trailer fill of crap.. but this time I may have a friend along for the ride, and I have a few more mods done to the car and the trailer (a lid, so we dont need the tarp this time lol) once I am established again in WA... i should be able to make some actual motnana trips for visits n such later in the year, next year... ect..
