  1. wellllll i suppose i should have 2 partys then? if its friday for all the usmb'ers to come, will that be do-able with the rallyx? if so .. we could have a usmb party on friday and then the other party on sunday.. ?
  2. sunday the 26th, I am planning to have a party here (home, in MLT) before I move out of state.. so everyone who wants to, should at least stop by and say goodbye and hang out for at least a little while before I leave!! you dont have to bring anything unless you really want to.. just show up! email me if you need directions- time of day, should be all day.. if you cant make it that day, just come say hi on another day, before the 1st of july (I will be gone then!!!!) dont know what or who will be happening at the party, so lets make it fun! we have a park across the street if there needs to be that much room (or if we want to have a fire with BBQ or something fun like that) whatever is left as far as excess subaru parts, will also be up for grabs.. i dont want to throw them away afterall!!
  3. now at about a week and a half till i leave! I got my trailer licensed and working... just have to put the walls on it... trying to figure out a plan for sparkster and I.. he wants me to go ahead alone a day before him (I leave on the 30th, and he leaves on the 1st mid day...) he is trying to figure out if there is anyone in MSP that he could drop my stuff off with, so that when I get back from WI (party for the 4th I am trying to get to, then return to MSP later in the week)
  4. hey now.. i had real bullet holes in my first lifted hatch... just ask Zap, I bought it from him! (he claims they were there when he got it ) there are some guys at work who would buy this mud stuff... not one, but 2 of the service writers have ford f-350 superduty desiels, lifted about 2 feet and with gigantic mud tires.. but....... the chrome diff cover is soooooo shiny you can see your reflection in clarity.. (I think he waxes the underside of his truck..) its so rediculase.. the funnier part, is that I have as much clearance under my imps rear diff as he does!!!!
  5. woohoo! i got the apartment!! now I just neeed to sell the brat now, so that I can mail them my check for the first 2 months rent moving to excelsior!!!! now to just find a job!!
  6. well, the apartment I applied to is about 545 a month w/most util... one bedroom... but they called today, they are ok with the app, except for me not having a for sure job lined up yet out there! (its hard to get a job from here...) any ideas? should I email my resumé to places? ideas? anyone have any job leads?
  7. i was thinking of building a stand at one time, using a xmember, and a turbo crossover pipe with a muffler can on the end of it as a short exhaust... it could work.. use a old tranny that has a working neutral gear for your starter mount....
  8. well, i saw the stripes and thought of the white stripe down the trashwagon 5, you know.. the one that was at WCSS5
  9. I would have to say it looks kinda trashwagon-ish.. not bad... maybe the design with slightly different colors?
  10. it sure has been a while sense the offroading, like the good ol days.. and now i am leaving the area! (not perminantly though ) i was just browsing thru some of my old pics and stuff.. and found a lot from the HP offroad days- might be able to do a CD or DVD of the pics sometime or another (once I am settled into my new apt...) and I can also make DVDs from the misc footage captured by my camera! *sigh* the memories...
  11. dont worry about the timing belt too much.. they can and have one some cars, lasted over 100k each belt.. and, you have the last of the non-interference EJ22s... so if it breaks, no problem (except for a car that wont start till the new belt is reinstalled) while your in the belt area, do the oil pump reseal (front crank, O ring, 3-bond) do the cam seals and O rings both sides, water pump+hoses+Tstat, and yes.. the idler pullys and tentioner would be good too) it will keep going, if you keep up the good maintenence- sounds like you have a good canadate for the 400k+ club! (as soon as you get there )
  12. CVs.. maybe.. after a lot of driving rough.. bearings, not any more than without a lift.. (the only thing that will kill the bearings, will be mud, sand and water)
  13. did it look like the front hubs were still on the legacy? Sparkster needs a good bearing assembly for his wagon (cheaper and a good temp fix for bad wheel bearings)
  14. if it passes a breif inspection of the major saftey related parts, I would say just carry the above mentioned, and have a good trip!! (check on it every time you stop for gas too... fluids, tire pressure, ect..) I am also moving, this july, from WA to MN.. towing a trailer! (yes, towing with my impreza)
  15. when the CEL comes on, the ECU goes into a default mode.. clean your AIC valve (thingy attached to the throttle body) it gets gummed up and can stick.. which can cause it to idle too high, or too low.. and the computer defaults and kills one cyl, (misfire) to keep it from possibly overreving this is what they told me, when I was checking my impreza, having the same problem (misfire) sense it runs fine some of the time... the codes can be reset by computer, but you will have to take it to someone who has a Subaru Select Monitor, or a ODBII scan tool if you can have someone (autozone does this for free) pull the codes, that will help determine the problem
  16. my old XT turbo had that similar problem... although nobody drilled holes in the pipe, the gasket and pipe came apart at the bottom of the downpipe! i took it apart and found there was cat material all down the midpipe.. scraped it out with a coat hangar, and it was as good as a real straight pipe!!! wooooooowwweeeee!! (faster)
  17. just a quick question, I havent done a legacy front wheel bearing, but if they are similar to the EA wheel bearings, then I can do it.. so is the process the same? or do the bearings fit in there different? need to know soon if possible, trying to save sparky some $$ for the trip!! thanks a bunch!!
  18. ok ok.. very rough estimates.. I might be just a little excited to actually do math right now sorry for the confusion but yes.. the 1st I leave on.. so I guess that makes it ~about~ 3 weeks right?? from today? hmm anywho.. about the apartment- umm.. this one in excelsior you speak of.. whats the name of it.. I just turned in an apartment app to a place that was a little cheap.. hopefully not the craphole you speak of.. but oh well. if its cheap, who cares right?
  19. less than 3 weeks now.. I leave on the 1st, after sparkster gets off work, we hit I-90!! however.. I still have things to sell here, things to give away (yes, free subaru parts) you will need to drop by to get them though!! this weekend (11th and 12th) will be the Brierwood (in Brier, WA) neighborhood garage sale.. I am taking all my things there, if you have "claimed" something on my previous posts, but have not picked it up or pai for it.. now would be a good time, because its going to the garage sale... whatever I have left, I will probably be having a major moving sale next weekend.. (all has to be gone then, as I am leaving that week!!!)
  20. well, conclusions maybe jumped to.. but one thing is sure.. if your car runs at all or did at any time, i dont think its possible for a timing gear to jump.. if it did, that would mean there is some major damage in there..... you probably still have the disty in the wrong spot.. it happens to me all the time.. have you checked it with a timing light? (there are marks on the flywheel-) if you still have this problem in July sometime, I could come take a look at it, as I am moving to MSP area in the first week of July
  21. the impreza is sorta lifted and its my daily... but when i had my previous lifted wagons.. (and hatch) I drove them as my daily! and the lifted hatch (the 81camohatch) was a pizza driver as well as an only car! and it was beat!! both the yellow wagon and my 83 lifted wagon (the light bar on top) had no sway bars, and they were fine everywhere i went! i have been thinking of removing my sway bar in the front of the imp.. to see how it handles then... it pushes around corners now...
  22. I dont think they do.. I dont run anything but the cheap stuff in my impreza (mine is EJ18 USDM version) no pinging, and I even ran 85 octane in it when i was driving cross country (higher elev, they have lower octane available) and it still got 31mpg you could try running the low stuff in there.. if it pings, try the next higher octane, if it pings with the higher stuff, check your timing (did I hear somewhere that the EJ15s have a disty? i could be mistaken)
  23. it is very nice.. i have also seen that one in person... I also know the plans for the STi stuff, for I have seen and inquired about those components as well! (darn those 05 wheels being different than 5x100! ) red one starting to look good too, is it a new project?
  24. passed my imspection.. needs wheel bearing, and valve cover gaskets.. and an oil change but a nice legacy for Sparkster!! yay for cameraphone (excuse the image lack-of-quality)
  25. its the distributor bearings... when they get loose (check for even the slightest play) they can get too close to the pickups, and/or the rotor can contact the cap contacts.. when this happens, it generates a large EMI pulse, wich interferes with the tach pickup- i suggest fixing it soon, a bad bearing in an old EA81 of mine seized up and stripped the teeth off the cam gear inside the block!
