so I just did a reseal on my oil pump.. and changed the oil on my wagon... but it started ticking after i did this! will having too much oil cause this? (i think i put a little too much in...) I am tempted to try the ATF flush method, it seems to work on ea81 and ea82 lifters... (1 qt atf to 3 qts oil.....) i just hope this isnt hurting my motor! (the ticking) but it certanly is annoying.. thanks!

I used this magic fluid in my turbo XT, and it solved the mini leak (it was leaking at some hose fittings where some corrosion had taken over) it works!! and I use it at work on cars coming in for their service (i work at a Subaru dealer) and one car came in leaking coolant from the head gasket! (fresh and dripping) so we added the additive, (in less than 15 minutes!) and i took it out on the freeway for 5 miles... then rechecked it, and the leak was repaired!! it is wonderful additive!!! i belive that one or 2 doses in the same batch wont hurt much.. its not too thick as far as a clogger... (not like alumakiller)

the power light is a part of your tranny.. cause you have the 4EAT in your Legacy... if it is flashing, it means that there is a trouble code (problem!!) stored in the ECU/TCM... bring it to me on one of my days off and I can run the select monitor for ya! I really hope that your tow truck got all 4 wheels OFF the ground when they towed it.. otherwise, your towing company will be getting you a new tranny!

a friend of mine has an ea82 wagon FWD 3at... he sais it does not shift into second at all, not even when it is put into the 2nd gear selector... it goes from 1st to 3rd... thats it... is there a fix for this? anyone know the reson for the problem? I have never worked on the internals of an AT before.. so this one is new to me! thanks!

you know, you could have called me! (for future reference) I can do on-site repairs AND towing (pullman is a fun drive!) yes, all EJ alternators as far as I know use a intergrated V reg... sounds like you had a short somewhere (if it all happened quick..) and most little shops are gonna try to get you for all your worth!!! dont let em do it to ya!

well, i probably have the "check engine light" on , but i cant tell, cause I have no light! (the wires are there somewhere ) tex helped me out.. we discovered that the wrx intercooler connector is exactly what i needed! the ones at home depot and lowes are all 2 or 3" only! (intake is about 2.4" or something like that....) thanks!

I just got done making a custom intake snorkel for my EJ22, but the one piece I still need is a end-to-end rubber clamp deal that will attach my intake to the manifold... (the 2.25" opening? I would assume that some of the guys who do cold air intakes would know where to get one? thanks!! (the duct tape is not very heat resistant!! and i need the real deal soon! )

at WCSS6 I was talking to (i think) Bob?, the guy with the realllllllllly nice hatchback, and he said that there was a company that sold a wiring diagram for the EJ22 ECU... so that I can clean up my speghetti mess! (and hook up things like my guages) so if anyone knows what the company is, or if anyone has the info I need... or Bob's email address? it would be much apprecieated! current status of wagon- drivable, but still no muffler.... oil leak has been repaired (oil pump reseal, and new T belt) intake being modified at this time.... once I get my intake finished I can do a offroad test! at Evans, or Reiters!!!!

What do I do with my old engine????
Ratty2Austin replied to subaru420's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
after you salvage the good stuff.... the scrap aluminum can be takent to a recycle yard... they usually pay decent amounts for "clean" aluminum... -
I would have to put my vote in for the 83 GL 4wd 4spd wagon!!! my favorite, which was also my first subaru, and i had a second like it.. (the blue wagon with the tow truck lights) and those 2 wagons had been thru the most with me with the least trouble if i was to buy another old subaru for a driver... it would most likely be an 83 wagon! (white with blue interior!)

heh... I have a boat I have been waiting to work on, and had plans to use an ea81, self contained.. with an inboard... I have the hull (fiberglass) ready to begin construction for the motormounts... probably going to use an old ea81 Xmember.... anyways... if you need a boat hull that would be perfect for the job, I have one.. (i am short on money and space, so I could give up this project.... ) and it comes with a trailer too! good luck on the project though

Ratty2Austin replied to crazyeric's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I used to own one.. the one I had was a 69 or 70 (dont remember the actual prod. date..) but it was yellow with red bumpers, and had purple/blue/white flames on it!... i am sooo looking for my old one, wish I had never let my dad sell it, it was soo close to drivable! -
anyone ever put XT seats in an Ea81?
Ratty2Austin replied to RenaissanceMan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have '90 legacy seats in my '80 GL wagon... its a tight fit, but it works! you need to just make screw plates for the seat rails.. cause the ea81 seat rails will mount the legacy seats (no mods to the floor of the car, only the seat) if you can get the rails on the seats (i stood the ea and legacy seats next to eachother on the gound and measured where the holes needed to be drilled in the bottom of the seats and rails) -
Ive got mine ... just recently up and running too! check the post about it to see pics and mods done to it 86 4wd turbo pushbutton 5spd!
