  1. I think its worth about 200-500 dollars, depending on if it runs and drives.. the reason its not worth more, is that its kinda crusty lookin, and its an AT.. Matt got his 83 turbo wagon (bad AT tranny, but perfect body) for very cheap (less than above mentioned i think) it looks pretty decent though.. a good fixer upper! Austin
  2. Woohooo!!! it runs!!! and it runs Better than it did!!!!! thanks for the help guys! Austin
  3. one of the problems I had last night, is when I was dissasembeling it, I was actually replacing the water pump (it seized) and doing the new belt at the same time... but when I took the tensioner off, it made the belt loose, and misaligned it. so then I couldnt look at how it was (it did run) to compare to, and remember the belt alignment! another qucik question- on the crank sprocket, there is a little key thing (keeps sprocket aligned on shaft) and it seems to be worn out! how do you change this? or is it changeable? or should I not worry? (it seems to affect the crank alignment with the T belt!) thanks
  4. and sorry about not being specific... it is a SOHC EJ22, in a 1991 LS Legacy wagon, AT AWD.... and I know it is a clearance engine, ifit wasn't , I wouldnt have tryed starting it without being sure it was correct! but anyways, thats the thing I was wondering (mattski) said there is different marks on the crank sproket- so I use the one on the plate behind the sprocket, and not the arrow on the front of the sproket? i think what happened, is that I aligned the timing marks on the cams and the arrow on the crank sprocket all pointing up (to the marks on the block/covers) and thats what made them misaligned.... Corky- are you going to email me a jpg image of that page? please remember to send it to my ratty2austin@yahoo.com email... thanks! Austin
  5. arrrrgg!! its soo frustrating! I put the car all back together, and before filling it with coolant, I though to myself, "I should try to start the car to see if the timing is right..." go figures it was not correct.. the car turned over, and made funny sounds, and did not fire... so I took it all back apart and realised there a a couple different marks on the cam pulleys and the crank gear... so which marks do I align up top? so far I have tried the 2 little tick markes "up" on the cams, and the arrow on the crank gear (center tbelt pully) up as well.. but then I noticed that there was also a different mark on the crank pully... which timing mark do I use!!!??? Should we maybe put this info (with pics) into the USRM for T belt replacement on EJ and EA motors.... cause the haynes manual has the wrong timing info for ea82! so I dont want to trust it with the EJ22!! I need to get this car back on the road asap!! (moms car! and she needs it for work!) thanks Austin
  6. My mom called me from the UW parking lot... she turned it off as soon as she saw the temp gage go red! hopefully that was soon enough... so when I got there, she started the car up, and it sounded mostly normal... (it also stopped making the evil noise it was making before, which I had assumed was the water pump bearing...) so my guess is that the waterpump was making noise before, due to a bent fin? or something? and now it broke, and is no longer turning the impeller? or maybe it seized, and is no longer spinning (hense the no noise again)??? cause either way, the car overheated, even though the fans work, the radiator is not cloged (worked perfectly 5 mins before the pump died) and there is still coolant in the rad. too.. (still full besides what steamed over ) but now, i guess its 2.2 disection time! it needs to be fixed tonight! (mom needs car to go to work) any speedy tips or tricks to changing the Tbelt and H20 pump? should I go to a slightly lower temp thermostat or leave it the same? thanks for any info! Austin <--- I knew I should have changed the pump sooner! Do'h!
  7. so has anyone else put legacy seats (from a 90 L wagon, very nice blue velour-i think?- seats) in a brat!?? my friend dave and I have got one mounted in... workin on the pass. side! I will post pics whenever I can find out who has a digi camera i can use! Austin
