  1. If that is the case what is the best way to have that fixed? And what level of expense are we talking about?
  2. So I have my 02 Outback fresh from having the heater core replaced and now the A/C is acting up. Sometimes while running the A/C (which seems to be cooling fine) and then after I cut the car off it sounds like a horn is going off (emitting a tone) in the engine. It will last from 5 to 20 seconds after the car is off. Any ideas? Thanks!
  3. Guys just wanted to say thanks for the info you provide. Had a starting issue with my 02 Outback, did some searching, and checked the camshaft position sensor seeing all the info on here about it. the bolt that holds the sensor in had backed out and the sensor was flopping around in its socket. Replaced the sensor and vrooom! Thanks for the help on this board. Its nice to have a source of data like this. Shane
  4. I am interested in a fix for this as well. Did you ever get it solved?
  5. I dont live in an area where studs are needed, but was thinking of picking up a set of chains. Anyone have any recomendations, or are they even needed?
  6. I checked the airbox, and it was sealed well. However the intake tube in general is very loose at most of the joints. Also a .5 diamiter hole has been drilled in the rear of the main flatter part of the intake that is behind the grill. Does anyone else have this hole? I wonder if air is getting sucked in at a loose point at certian rpm's. Time to play with some hose clamps. Thoughts?
  7. Cracks where? in the belts, or somewhere else. Thanks Shane Changed the oil for the first time last night... Muuuuch easier than my old civic. So nice having the filter on the bottom istead of halfway up the back of the engine.
  8. Hi all, First, thanks for the wealth of knowledge this forum has been for me. I just purchased my first subie, an 02 Outback 4cyl AT about 3 months ago. I do love it so. Here is my issue. when accelerating normaly every thing sounds perfect. When I floor it however the engine developes a loud sqeal/whine/howl. Almost as if a belt is slipping. I figured I would post here first before heading to the dealership and breaking out the wallet. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Shane
