  1. ill more than likely be in attendance anyway, i dont have anything to register however. looking foward to seeing some old friends.
  2. haha, thanks for the kind words paul. good to see youre doing well... ill more than likely be there and we can catch up...as for EJ? i havent heard from or seen him in light years.
  3. i was wondering about this...i think ill be making an appearance. ford rangers arent imports right?
  4. itll feel faster across the RPM range but youll really only gain a handful of horses. turbo cars naturally feel faster than they actually are. typical problems will arise above 12psi...head gaskets blowing, heads cracking, fuel delivery and detonation etc. around this amount of pressure, your turbo also loses efficiency...in short, any higher you will just blow heat. a legacy or wrx unit makes for an affordable replacement. these cars do not take to mods well unless you go all out. couple the boost controller with an IC and your exhaust system and go from there. use the best gas available and stay on top of the cooling system...always let the car run for a minute or 2 after beating on it so the oil can circulate thru our primitive turbo design.
  5. that thing is ancient history, i totally forgot about it. i think it sold for like $1200 and was last in PA...
  6. most importantly...learn from others' mistakes. and have a back up to get you to work. xt5.bmp
  7. 40psi is too much. should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 32psi. the max rating is the limit the tire can handle before it heats up and explodes.
  8. will... find a spare short block and have it bored. subaru still has .050 over pistons available through the dealers...that will help with the horses and torque and it will put the engine up to just under 2.0L the one block i had in the turbo XT was .050 over and was a monster but i couldnt keep HG's on it for other reasons. i would have loved to see what a bored block would do with those cams.
  9. from my experiences, its probably a bad radiator.
  10. also, can i ask why would you want the EA81T clutch/flywheel set up? go with the bigger XT6 clutch and ask one of the guys on here to lighten your flywheel. i did this and got my flywheel down 9lbs if i remember right, what a difference.
  11. this is one of those wierd EA82T ailments that everyone finds a different cure for. i had an '87 GL10 like 5 years ago that drove me absolutely nuts trying to figure this out. some say its an ignition issue, some say its a fuel issue (octane), some say its a turbo issue. i got rid of mine before i fgued it out, but i think i remember zeroing in on the coolant temp sensor...however i forget why. try all of these, start with the cheapest first. fill the tank up with super and see if that doesnt do it... good luck.
  12. i have a 93 with 200k on it, also added 31x10.50x15s and a K&N. they are awesome trucks. mine has some top end noises, which im told are in the 22RE's nature. the body on mine is great but its got a few quirks elsewhere. incredible in the snow and dirt. you probably have a bit of time on the chain. youll know when its time to change it, they get loud. keep an ear out for it, the guides break and then it starts beating against the inside of the timing cover. this is usually around 100k...
  13. im still around, just focusing on other things... about the rx: its changed hands a few times. i think i saw it for sale in the marketplace last week.
  14. kevin, good to see you are still in the game...and still being innovative. good luck with this thing man.
  15. nope, but it plaugues ea82t's. i had one a while back that did this, i cant remember what caused it. i think it had something to do with the knock sensors being overly sensitive, check your timing and fill it up with premium. see what it does.
  16. dude, ive been down this road. seriously consider either not pushing your luck anymore with it if you are driving it everyday or pick up some $200 beater to get you to work when you blow the pistons out of it or the heads melt. ive been around the block a bit. especially this one.
  17. cool, get that camber checked. and turbo eclipses are fast. ive driven one.
  18. do i? man i gotta check my box, from now on...if you or anyone wants to get a hold of me email me at dennisex24 at hotmail dot com
  19. i need to get better with keeping in touch with people. my biggest flaw... and yeah, school is killing me. i may not be able to get up there so quick, but we should put something together for the pine barrens again. any takers?
  20. dude, looks great man. keep up the good work. heres the history of the XT as i know it by the way... this car was owned officially by SOA when it was new, i had a friend of mine run the VIN on SOA's warranty info program to get what i could on it and was surprised as hell at the outcome. it came back that the car spent time there either as a demo or training car. in 1990 its was somehow sold to a woman in NJ and she owned it until 1994 or so... this is where the fun begins. around this time, my friend steve's dad bought it from a dealer and ran the hell out of it, it then became steves (scoobiesteve on here) car and he too ran the hell out of it. this is where it was first toyed with. i know steve ran the boost up to about 17psi and cooked at least one of the engines...the car was then aquired a few years ago by brian who was steves friend (bbitner on here, but hasnt been around in a minute and steve moved on to bigger and better things like swapping v.5 STI drivetrains into old imprezas). it was then that it underwent the sucession of engine swaps, blown headgaskets and wild experiments. most of what you see in the pics was done by brian but me and the guys at SOA moved somethings around and tried different things. brian then sold it on the usmb to skip and it stayed at brians near allentown, pa until skip could pick it up, which he could never get around to doing. then one day i got an email and within a month or so it was at my house. i drove it for a few months and the HG's went out again, so while i was working at SOA, we tore the engine out and discovered quite a mess inside...i wont go into detail as to what exactly was wrong (manny, email me if you really want to know) but it required yet another EA82T to be swapped in (goodbye .50mm overbore), and then 6 wks later another, after it started sounding like a nuclear war was going on in the drivers side of the block. this engine was deemed a factory defect because the cylinder wall clearance was off in either #2 or #4, i cant remember. i just remember it being really loud. so after the engine was finally fixed, i decided i wanted to finish my degree and needed money to do so...bye bye XT. everyone misses you and i hate not hearing the choked sound from the cam'd EA82T when it tries to start up. and the roar, my god do i miss the roar. good luck manny, take care of her, 5 engines is enough.
