  1. Might also want to check the wires behind the kick panel above the clutch pedal. I was starting through an intersection once and right when I hit the clutch the car died so I let it back out and it caught again. Pulled over and checked those wires and sure enough, some of them didn't have insulation. Slapped on some electrical tape and it hasn't happened since. 93 loyale spfi 5mt 4wd by the way.
  2. Have you checked the power steering fluid? I know my loyale has a small leak underneath but a slightly faster one might be enough to spread the fluid to the exhaust.
  3. Adjusting the cable did the trick. Thanks guys!
  4. Car's got 159340 miles on it. Clutch is mechanical.
  5. I've got a 93 Loyale 5MT 4wd. Last couple weeks it feels like the clutch is slipping more than usual when starting from a stop. The engine will actually rev up just after starting to move with my foot off the clutch. If I let off the gas I can feel the engine solidly connect to the wheels. If I don't give it much gas until the clutch and flywheel are spinning the same speed then it does fine and doesn't slip at all. Think its time to change the clutch? Whats the best way to go about doing that? Take the engine out? Don't have a garage to work on it, but might be able to make it through the winter. Any advice, suggestions, comments? Thanks, Jack
  6. I have a 93 loyale, MT, 4x4 with 153000 miles. Getting EGR valve control, vehicle speed sensor 2, IAC valve, and EVAP purge valve codes but only get that hesitation when engine's cold. I'm thinking has to do with IAC valve not functioning properly. Once RPM's are above 1500 does fine when cold. Smooth acceleration at normal driving temperatures from a stop or while driving.
  7. You might also want to take a look at the air intake setup. If there's a crack in a hose or fitting after the MAF or something's not connected it'll idle rough but drive fine at higher RPM's. Hasn't happened to my Soob but did happen to the 89 camry with the V6 I used to drive. Ran excellent once I replaced the air intake hose.
  8. This past winter was one of the wettest in years for Nevada. Thanks to my uncle I was fortunate enough to have a 4WD Loyale Wagon before the snow burried everything. Subarus do phenominal in the snow. I was running around with two practically bald tires in the back and two decent all weathers in the front. As long as I was driving on something slippery the 4wd didn't complain about corners, but had to take it easy around corners. Powersliding is extremely easy when the tires in back are slightly smaller with less tread than the front. Great times. Never got stuck. Even was driving through snow past the bumper on my way home from work one night. Use the engine to slow you down on ice. Keeps the wheels from locking up and you know the rest. Great cars.
