Hi Everybody This is Jerry, as everybody knows i have a 80 hatchbrat with an 84 EA81 engine that i have install the SPFI from a 89 donor car. It dosen't run all i get when key is on the ecu flashes 5 times then the fuel pump relay will click on and fuel pump is running for about 5 seconds then it repeats itself. The check engine light is on all the time. My question is there somebody that live close to me that has done this swap over and knows how to trouble shoot this thing. Getting mad soon this swap over will be tossed in the garbage and old school will go back on it. My cell # 1-509-952-2855 Thanks Jerry

Hey Subieman This is Jerry, i don't know i have a set of ice tires that i run when it gets slick. Around Selah we don't get much snow BUT we get alot of black ice now thats fun. Every winter there is so many SUV that are in the dich or upside down because of the ice, i just click the lever and 4 wheel drive away we go. Thanks Jerry

Hey DrKrazy This is Jerry, yes i got 60,000 miles on the first set of those tires. I drive 500 miles a week just to go to work on the freeway all the time. I had a set of michlens before the coopers and they were much louder and road much harder every bump i could feel. I just drive my subaru up and down the road kinda reminds you of the song, On the road again just can't wate to get on the road again. Thanks Jerry

trailer hitch on an ea81 hatch, how strong??
bratsrus1 replied to 75subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey 75 This is Jerry, on my hatch if i remove the stinger part of the hitch all you see is the square hole. The hitch is bolted with 8 bolts that are 1/2 in size, i use heavy wall square tubing 1x2 inch and 2 inch angle 3/8 thick and the end plates are 3/8 inch thick. I over build it so i don't have to worry about braking anything. On my hatcnbrat i have a hitch in front and in the back that way i can put my winch in front or in the back. Thanks Jerry -
trailer hitch on an ea81 hatch, how strong??
bratsrus1 replied to 75subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey 75 This is Jerry, if you build the hitch like i do and install the rear disc then i would do it. Ask Shawn how strong the hitch is on the brat that he got from me. When i build a hitch it is build out of heavy iron and i bolt it in 4 to 6 places. The hitch i have on my hatchbrat has on it and the hitch i have on my 86 hatch not a problem to pull a dolley. My hatchbrat that i am building now will have a heavy hitch on it also. Thanks Jerry -
Hey Guys This is Jerry, it's not a 85 look at the picture close and you will see no side step. Has to be a 86 or 87 look close. Thanks Jerry

Hi Don This is Jerry, i look at your pictures of your trike. 2 things i see will help you on cooling 1 is the exhuast move it to the under side of the bike. It is so close to the radiator the heat that the muffler gives off gose into the radiator thats not helping the cooling. #2 the radiator is not a subie and it is a up and down flowing the cross flow radiators cool better. Change those 2 things and i think it will solve your problem. Thanks Jerry

Holy rumbly exhaust, batman!
bratsrus1 replied to fastenova's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey Aaron This is Jerry, if you were at the show you would have seen my 86 hatch with the side pipes that i made for it. This hatch dosen't sound like any other subaru. I drove in town today and with all the buildings wow dose this little hatch make a rumble. Everybody is looking around for the hot rod car and all they see is me and my hatch. Thanks Jerry -
Hey Mike This is Jerry, if you use the EA81 flywheel and the EA81 pressure plate it is a match set. The Ea82 disc from a 86 that has a round hub with 6 springs in it will fit with no mods to the flywheel. I know because i have that set up in my hatch back now and i have over 50,000 miles on the clutch and counting. The flywheel must be the 8 7/8 inch for the clutch disc to fit. Thanks Jerry

custom shifter boot on 5sp conversion
bratsrus1 replied to gunslinger's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Hi This is Jerry, well ok but i like the stock look. With the 5 speed kit that i make everything is totally stock looking inside of your car no exhaust inside of my car. I am not putting anybody down i just saying i like the stock look. Thanks Jerry -
Hi Zefy This is Jerry, no it dosen't have to be from a 86 brat but it has to be the same size of flywheel and pressure plate the big one 8 7/8 inch because thats the size of the clutch disc from the 5 speed. Thanks Jerry
-
Hey Mike This is Jerry, for the flywheel you use a flywheel and pressure plate from a 86 brat AE81. Then you need a clutch disc from a 86 dual range 5 speed tranny the one that has the round hub with 6 springs in it. Now that you have all the parts rounded up you need to space the starter out with a lock washer. That spaces the starter back about 0.090 that is the difference from the EA81 flywheel and the EA82 flywheel. Problem solved Thanks Jerry

Hey 73 This is Jerry, if you do that to the engine it will shake like a Harley, unbalance. Thats why subaru set up there engines the way they do smooth. Thanks Jerry

part of black near the back wheel's ...why?
bratsrus1 replied to moshem74's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey 74 This is Jerry, the reason they put that part there it is a rock guard. Thats where all the rock chips are. If you look at some cars that don't have that part you will see a bunch of rock chips in the paint. Thanks Jerry -

Driveshaft lengthening question 5speed D/R swap
bratsrus1 replied to yegoshin's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Hi This is Jerry, if you keep the 5 speed in the stock location in your brat then you will need 51 inches of new tubing. In Yakima Washington the shop is call Drive line service they charge me on my last drive line 112.00 to lengthen it and balance it same size of tubing that the stock drive line used. Thanks Jerry -
Hi Everybody This is Jerry, well i forgot to put on some green today. But not to fear when i got to work today i open up my tool box and got out a can of green spray paint and painted the bottom half of my coveralls i am set for the day. Cheers Jerry

Hey Frog This is Jerry, to clean the pistons get a bucket of carb cleaner. Drop one in the carb cleaner for about an hour or 2 then wash with warm water wow just like new. Your lifters also drop them into the carb cleaner wash with warm water then dry them off then drop them in clean engine oil. Thamks Jerry

How low is too low? EA81 compression
bratsrus1 replied to FlyB0y's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey FlyBoy This is Jerry, if i remember right your brat has adjustable rockers. Adjust the valves and recheck the compression you will find that it will make a difference. Thanks Jerry -

I live in selah Washington next to Yakima center of the state. Let me know what you all need and how you want it ship, pay me what you think it's worth. Thanks Jerry

question on ea81 seats...
bratsrus1 replied to starkiller's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey Star This is Jerry, i have a 86 hatch and i have installed a set of XT6 seats in it. The adjusters gose so far back that the seat touches the back seat. Also the drivers seat still has the hight adjuster on it so small people can drive it. Find you a set of XT6 seats and i will install then for a small fee or trade me something for labor. Let me know Thanks Jerry
