Hi Rob This is Jerry, you need that FREE three door subaru that is in Moxee for parts. Come and get it it's free. I will help you load it, just let me know. Don't wate to long he is going to have it hauled off to the wrecking yard. Thanks Jerry

Hi Greg This is Jerry, yes you can use all EA82 parts BUT if you are driving it on the street then that's a big no. The EA82 flywheel has bigger holes for the flywheelbolts. You can get a vibration, if you are off roading it you will never notice it. The 5 speed kit that i sell cost 100.00 pluse shipping and it lets you unbolt the 4 speed and bolt the 5speed up without any welding or cutting and it looks stock. If you want 1 of those kits let me know and i will let you know what to ship me. I have a 5 speed in my 86 hatch and i love it, i will never go back to a 4 speed. My hatch has a 86 rx turbo 5 speed dual range tranny in it with 3.70 gears a highway cruiser top speed i don't know to fast. Thanks Jerry

Hey Greg This is Jerry, you need the flywheel from a later year EA81. It is the same size as the EA82 clutch disc same with the pressure plate EA81. If you use the ea82 pressure plate on the ea81 flywheel it won't work. The ea81 flywheel is 90 thousands deeper than the ea82 it will slip. The 86 brat flywheel works really good. Thanks Jerry

Axle problems-86 Subaru Brat
bratsrus1 replied to ShawnW's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hi Shawn This is Jerry, those axles were from Les Schawb and my thoughts are that they are not that good. I have to replace one of them each year. The brat also has adjustable front strut rods so the front end shop can adjust them. Also the 5 speed tranny has the syncro shift synthetic gear lube part #792 in it. I am sure that it is not your brat but the so called Les Schawb axles that are to blame. Thanks Jerry -
4spd D/R to 5spd D/R swap
bratsrus1 replied to LUVMYBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hi Luvmybrat This is Jerry, that is a no brainer do the 5 speed you will love it. To make things ez you will need the kit that i make up for the swap over. It is an all bolt in kit and you retain all stock shifters and your consel. When you get your 5 speed you need to get the 5 speed shift linkage and the tranny mounts. You keep the EA81 flywheel and prusser plate. You will need to get the 5 speed clutch disc. Then you will need to lenghten the drive line 51 inches of new tubing. If you get this kit it will fit the stock brat and when you lift your brat you need to change only the 4x4 linkage everything else is the same. Let me know Thanks Jerry -
Hey Glenn This is Jerry, that's a no brainer the 5 speed. When you get one installed in your car you will notice the differeance. The 5 speed has the same bolt patteren as the the 4 speed and axles are the same and the drive line is the same spline. The mounts are different. Come out to the show this year and you can see 1 or 2 of my cars with the 5 speeds in them. Thanks Jerry

5speed conversion questione
bratsrus1 replied to Stupidru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hi Everybody This is Jerry, on the drive line for the 5 speed set up for the EA 81 wagons and brats it needs 51 inches of new tubing. On the hatch back it is 48 inches of new tubing. As far as i can tell thw turbo and nonturbo 5 speed tranny are the same lenght. SO remember those numbers. Thanks Jerry -
Hey Everybody This is Jerry, i just got done installing a set of 88 XT6 seats in my 86 hatch. What i did is the same as i did in Ed brat and that was on the inner slides of the xt cut all the extra parts of the slides off. Then cut the mounting brackets of the xt slides so they are flat on the bottom. The EA81 slides cut them in half you use the bottom half only, the part that bolts to the floor. Bolt the bottom half of the slide to the floor then place the seat on the bolted slide tack weld the slides together. Then remove the seat and finish welding the slides together and rebolt back into your subaru. Thanks Jerry

snag on the clutch/trans install...confirm please?
bratsrus1 replied to ShawnW's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hi Shawn This is Jerry, i just got done with my 86 hatch with the turbo tranny. You use the Ea81 9 inch flywheel that comes off of your 86 brat. Then you use the Ea82 clutch disc, then you use the Ea81 pressure plate. Then you use the Ea82 throw out bearing. When it is all done the starter will have to be spaced out 1 washer distance the size of the starter bolt or you won't be able to disengage the starter. Any questions let me know Thanks Jerry -
Hi Bvk This is Jerry, my wife has a 98 outback wagon and guess what it did the same thing. I took it to the dealer ship and talk to the sirvice manager about it. He hands me this sirvice bulliten stating about the knock when the engine is cold. I told him i am a service tech. i know all about those bullitens the fight was on. I told him that bulliten was bull sh-- my car is still under warrienty i want a new motor. He made a call and the regional rep had to say yes or no he said yes when he found out i knew what i was talking about. We got a new engine it runs really good now. Thanks Jerry

Hi Everybody This is Jerry, i drove my hatch again and all i can say is i don't worry about being pass on the freeway more. In town it is so high geared that i don't use 5th gear only on the freeway. This 5 speed is so e z to shift almost like nothing hook to the shifter. If anybody is thinking about the 5 speed swap don't think about it any more just do it, you will be amazed. Thanks Jerry

Hi shawn This is Jerry, in 86 rx turbo 5 speed dual range tranny didn't have the diff lock. But i have an 87 and 88 rx turbo 5 speed dual range trannys and they bolth have the diff lock. Yeah i know somebody out there saying thats not fare, but 1 is for my new brat when i find it and the other 1 is for the 4.44 gears if i ever get them from Austraila. Brett Rogers where the hell are you i want my gears. Thanks Jerry

Hi Everybody This is Jerry , as some of you know i traded 4 jack mans wheels for a 86 maroon hatch back. It had no motor or tranny. I had a 86 rx turbo 5 speed dual range tranny so that went in it. Then i found a 87xt for Dave and traded him for a good running EA81 hyd. motor and that went in it. Now i had CVaxles.com build me a set of axles. They fit like factory, all i can say with those 3,70 gears for the street holy cow that little hatch is like the energizer bunny it keeps going and going i don't know what top speed is but it is fast. I called CVAXLES.COM yesterday and odered 2 more of those axles for spares. the price was 105 each not bad for new axles. Now to finish the trail hatch. Thanks Jerry

Hi everybody This is Jerry, i have a 86 hatch back and i just got done installing a 86 rx turbo 5 speed dual range tranny in it. Guess what i had no i repeat no problems with it. Everything bolted up just like it was made for it, just like my brat did that Shawn has now. All i can say is that the turbo tunnel must be alot smaller than the 4 speed tunnel. Shawn you will need to get a set of those custom axles that i had CV AXLES.COM made for me they fit like the stock ones fit. Thanks Jerry
-
Hi JWX This is Jerry, i have a 86 hatch back with the EA81 engine and i am installing a 86 RX 5 speed dual range tranny in it. Yes i am useing my 5 speed kit and the drive line has already been lenghten. I am building a super cruiser to go back and forth to work i put 500 miles a week. I will let everybody know how it works out. Thanks Jerry

Hey Everybody This is Jerry,i got my custom axles today. They are the Ea81 hatch back axles with the 25 splines just right for a turbo 5 speed tranny. I live in Selah Washington and cvaxles.com are in Florida they cost 105 a each without core exchange. The total cost to my door was 234.00 not bad for 2 new axles. The part # is oocvo-oooo custom axle i will be odering at least 4 more of these puppies. Thanks Jerry

Hi everybody This is Jerry, the plow dose tilt but it is manaul it gose right and to the left. The plow looks alot like the bottom picture. The plow weights about 150lbs. The wench on the plow just picks up the blade and lets it down and it has a long control cable so you can operate it inside of the car. Thanks Jerry
-
Hi everybody This is Jerry, the blade is yellow and the frame is painted black and the wench that picks up the blade is a warren. It was set up for the tow bar front bumper the big heavy bumper like Qman had for sale. The back part of the frame mounts to the back side of the engine cross member. The plow is not that heavy i can pick it up blade and frame and it's all metal. I am going to mount it to my lifted hatch. Thanks Jerry
-
Hey Everybody This is Jerry, oh what a lucky day. I have been working on this plow sence july and i got it today. It is a subaru snow plow for a gen 1 brat. The guy used it 1 year and the brat got totaled in the summer so it sat in the shop until i got it today. Looks almost new and the price real cheap. I am going to set it up for my lifted hatch. Thanks Jerry

I seen him comming but there was nothing i could do. If i didn't have the rear disc on i would have hit the car in front of me. The guy didn't try to stop because he was looking for a house adddress thats what he said. BTW it was day light at the time. Thanks Jerry
