Help! I’m doing my best to get the mountain wagon ready for winter. That meant a brake rebuild, weberizing, and removing the monster AC setup. As this was a field car, it was in op and not Necessary here in the Northwest. Problem is the bracket for the pump takes the place of the alternator bracket and move the alternator way out to the end. Does anybody have a standard non-AC Ea71 alternator bracket? Thanks

I am interested to know what the value would be on a Subaru DL wagon such as this. The pictures show there are some rust issues, but not quite sure what would be a good price on a car of this condition. Any help would be appreciated. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171848541479?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true Thanks, Ryan

This is my first post in here and I've been stoked on all the stuff I've learned from the forums. You may be opposed to what I'm doing, which everyone has their right to an opinion but for those that are interested, this is what I'm up to. I'm restoring and styling the car a little more like the common JDM styled datsun 510 and classics along the same line. It will be a bit lower (not slammed) have different wheels that are wider and some other odds and ends to make it a little sportier. Here's some photos of what it looked like when I bought it and the progress I've made thus far.

I have a '78 GF that I'm currently in the process of restoring from having an engine fire, and the wiring harness was so far gone I didn't think it was worth saving. Long story short, it's got a new wiring harness from a 1978 BRAT, and there are a couple of plugs that don't line up. There's one that I feel I could make work pretty easily in the BRAT harness that runs back to the brake lights of the car, but the one that is causing issue is (and forgive me for lack of the proper technical term) the long black plug-in that is 2 rows high and 15 or so across... With the BRAT harness for the dash, it leaves that end of the plug clear on the other, wrong side of the car where the other end (connected to the original harness that runs through the rest of the car) is sitting. I don't know of a way to get this to adapt offhand without cutting and splicing in some fashion all those wires (which I really don't see myself doing) and I was wondering if anyone had a harness (the one that goes through the dash, and into the engine bay) they would be able to sell me. Shipping isn't an issue...if you've got a harness I'll pay whatever shipping and then some for gratitude. I hope this explaination hasn't been TOO confusing to read...and any advice that may help me be able to still use the dash wiring harness from the brat would be more than appreciated. Thanks, Jim

my dad got this brat last summer after i spotted the same guy's 83 brat in my search for parts for my 85. which he didn't want to sell but i got a free canopy and my dad got a $100 brat that had been sitting since 97 after the guys wife got in a accident. the morning after he got it he put in a battery and some gas down the carb and it fired up. its basicly been sitting and collecting more rust besides getting the carb rebuilt about 3 months ago. most recently i've been putting in a set of rear seats. the place where we picked it up in the dalles wrong head rest they were just for measurements

WTB: Thought I'd bump this up to a single thread. Looking for a 1978 Gen 1 4WD wagon gas tank with a sending unit. Email me directly at david.j.stancil at gmail.com. Willing to pay for shipping. I'm located in Tucson, AZ. Hoping someone on these boards might be able to help. Any info on where I might find one of these bad mamas you would find me forever in your Subaru debt.

Hey guys! My buddy has agreed to help me do a wiring harness with my 78 BRAT. He said if I get a kit he can help me build it, but he needs to know the specs I need. Anyone know of what the most reliable kit I could get to work for this? I also plan on doing the ea81 alt/disty swap when I install the harness. I just need something simple, preferrably with labelled leads to build a new wiring harness. This will be a great learning project for me and I'll post pics and my steps so others can learn too! Thanks! Connor
