hey guys ive been looking at a ton of forums for bits and pieces of the info i need but cant quite make it 100% i have myself the 2003 baja non turbo and its an automatic sadly. ive been sitting on a 5 speed that i cant seem to get sold so i was considering swapping it into my baja. now i have the brake cluster (clutch, brake, booster) the flywheel a clutch and pressure plate the tranny itself the driveshaft. basically everything. now my issue lies on the wiring, rear end, and ecu. so my questions is would i need to splice wires in do i need the ecu and i think my rear is 4.44 but im not 100% would a 4.11 rear from another subie bolt right in? any other pointers would be great. im quite confident in my ability to do the swap i just dont want to get it apart and realize i need something completely random. photos just of the things ive got.

So i have an 84 GL wagon, just finished the 5speed swap. The 4wd is stuck in 4hi. not with the shift linkage or with pry-bars am i able to move it to 4low or 2wd. I'm supposed to make a few hundred mile drive tonight and I don't suspect id be doing very well on the "new" 5speed stuck in 4wd. Any clues, hints, advice would be greatly appreciated

Swapped tranny and rear diff in my 2003 Baja (EJ25) a couple years back. Installed a 5 speed from a 2003 WRX (EJ20). Also installed a lightweight flywheel. Clutch disintegrated on the highway thus week so the tranny is out again. Found the flywheel and pressure plate badly roasted. Flywheel was blue and warped like a potato chip. I'm ditching the flywheel and replacing with one from a 2003 Impreza (EJ25). Removed that flywheel without checking position of a timing mark. How do I time this replacement? What, if anything, is the correct alignment?

I'm going to be doing a trans swap in my 97 Impreza sport and would like to know if it is easy to pull the trans without pulling the motor. I have had a number of Loyales over the years and have always pulled the motor to get the transmission out. Have already had the motor out of this Impeza once to do the clutch, now the trans is on the way out...sigh.... if it is possible to pull the trans out from under the car how much room do I need? I don't have a hoist and will be doing the work on the floor off jack stands. Thoughts? Thanks.

Im gathering everything to put a freshly resealed 90 ej22 in my 84 gl. I currently have a 4spd d/r. At first i was just going to use the adaptar plate but now it seems like the 4spd is giving out. It would be for a street/rally car, so i thought itd be cheaper and easier to swap to awd. I've searched through alot of threads but haven't found any good info on installing the new trans. Anyone have some tips? Thanks

I just finished putting in a 5-speed for my brat. I go to start it and it starts imidiately but then wants to die. It sounds like something is hanging up, I think it is the starter but I don't know for sure . The transmission is in nuetral. Are the starter motors for the four speed and five speed different? or does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a few questions on a 5 speed tranny out of a 2000 legacy with the EJ25. Now I heard that in 2000 this was the only year for the 4.10 gear ratio, is this correct? Another one, if that is correct if i were to put it in my 2001 legacy L sedan if I swapped the rear out as well with out messing up the speedo?
