Hello all, My automatic transmission in my 84 GL hatchback is not shifting gears when in drive. I can manually shift them from first to second with the shifter but it will not do it on it's own in drive. I have it at a transmission shop and they said they tried replacing the modular and checking for the compression (which was fine) but it still is resisting. Would anyone know what is wrong? Or would someone know where I can look for a transmission for the car and what are some interchangeable transmissions.

Not sure what this is... Or its purpose... Looks like i has a filter inside. Connecter to two vacuum lines? Maybe both are fresh air? Sits just to the rear drivers side of the intake manifold and engine. Off a 1986 GL Hatchback. Probably the same for Brats. Thanks! If you look close you can see that the two hoses connect to two different switches (?) on the intake manifold.

Anybody know where I can find a grill guard for an 84 GL Wagon? Also how much weight do they add, and most importantly, how much they cost? Thanks

Ok so I cant find anything in my two soobie owners manuals about it so I thought I would ask the awesome soobie geeks on the fourms about it. My question is, do the older gen subarus have a breather tube or a vent for the transmission? or is the dipstick hole the vent? And if they do have a vent where is it?

So i have an 84 GL wagon, just finished the 5speed swap. The 4wd is stuck in 4hi. not with the shift linkage or with pry-bars am i able to move it to 4low or 2wd. I'm supposed to make a few hundred mile drive tonight and I don't suspect id be doing very well on the "new" 5speed stuck in 4wd. Any clues, hints, advice would be greatly appreciated

So i just bought a new gl wagon because i was given a price i could not refuse for a car that was worth double if not triple what i paid. The only issue i have with it is that it does not have 4wd which is a total bummer. Is there any way to convert this beast of a car to 4wd? im planning on lifting it already so the clearance shouldn't be an issue but please correct me if i'm wrong

i just changed out my vacuum rail and all of my hoses connecting but now my GL turns over and then makes this weird backwards turn over sound and then spits either smoke or gasoline out of the carb
