  1. Posted this in the new gen forum but this might be a better place. I'm putting an sti 6 speed into my XT6 and looking for a crossmember. My car started life as an automatic so I don't have the XT6 manual crossmember and finding one is gonna be impossible, and don't have a welder so would rather not go custom. Is there any EJ (or other) crossmember that will work? Here are the measurements (all from the centers of the bolts) Green line: 20 and 5/8 inches Red line: 2 and 3/8 inches Blue line: 13 and 1/2 inches
  2. Sitting at the computer, I'm at the point where I'm about to pull the trigger on purchasing my lift kit. -=BUT=- The SJR website says their 4-in kit "fits EA71, Gen1 1978-80 all body styles"... I thought my 1980 wagon (with the 1600) still fell into the EA81 category? (Plus, the SJR kit for EA81 is about 50 bucks cheaper.) I also have a 1981 parts car with the 1800 motor I plan swapping into my 1980 wagon when I do the lift. Thinking that would be easiest when everything is already apart. I've been told I'll need to use the crossmember from the 1981 to make the swap. Is there any truth to that? Can somebody set me straight on which car I have and will a crossmember swap make any difference as to which lift kit I buy? - I appreciate any insight/experience you folks might have.
  3. So I'm working on this project with my 1984 EA81 DL wagon. Attempting to swap in an EJ22 and the transmission from the same car, 5sp 4MT. I'm having some trouble figuring out how to mount the trans. I can cut out the tunnel but even so, I'm puzzled on how to attach the trans. I could use the EJ22 crossmember with the front sway bar removed. Any thoughts?
  4. Howdy gents, this is a classic example of: how to pour money and time into car and find out later that it so rusted its not economical to have it fixed by professional but you cant back off anymore. I had my Loyale pre-inspected to find out if it would pass/fail tests, I thought it might need carb adjustment and maybe new valve cover gasket and thats it. Mechanic poked around with hammer and results were that both rear wheelwells are crumbling. Rear crossmember is a mess and he said thats not allowed to be welded and needs to be replaced. Also strut tower is compromised. Problems are on both sides off course. Planning to replace rocker panels as well. Would be a good idea to drill spot welds in strut tower to remove it and do the welding at bench? I'd imagine it would lead to better results than doing via wheelwell & trunk even thou its seems more troublesome. Any dos or donts in this matter? http://imgur.com/a/VASst
  5. Winter is coming and I need to lift my car so I can fit my new tires in. I have been unable to find an Outback to get the tranny and engine crossmember spacers for a drop. I believe they are from a 96-99 Outback and are 1.1/4". Does anyone have some drawings or specs so I can have some made. I don't know everything that I am looking for on this so I appreciate the help. Thanks, Brian
