  1. I have a 2004 Subaru Impreza.Recently it doesn't allow me to pump gas in at a regular flow.Had the gas tank fixes several months ago.It also has the engine light on.Can someone tell me how to fix these 2 problems?? Thank You. Gloyale thanks for your help.Question?" Blowing air through the evap line ,will that do it,before I do the canister?
  2. Right now, my 1991 Subaru Legacy L Wagon is just getting worse and worse mileage as time goes on. I want to assume it's because of the o2 sensor. It's approximately 18 to 20 in the best averages when I drive it like grandma. Other than that, the fuel gauge does not last long and I use 10 gallons before I know it. It used to get anywhere from 23 to 24. I'm in the money struggle enough as it is and this is just making things horrendously worse. I need some help asap if possible.
  3. Okay, everybody, so I'm having another problem with my '92 Loyale. It was running fine with the new battery and I got the shim for the loose terminal and that was the fix. But now it struggled to start a couple nights ago, and it's been really, really cold out in my area. It gave a good crank and tried to start but died. I tried again and the same thing happened. Tried once more and that time I pumped the gas while I cranked engine and it got started then, but the vehicle vibrated a little and the idle did not start out high but very low. Also there's been a squealing noise too, like maybe a belt on one of the pulleys? Once the engine warms up the squeal usually stops. After that I was able to start the car fine each time but there's this problem of it idling really low. Any answers, guys? Could it be the arctic weather that caused the problem? Too much cold weather affecting the engine and components? And what can I do about it? I don't think the timing slipped because I got that fixed already last year, brand new timing belt and new plugs and distributor. I saw one of Scotty Kilmer's vids about using an idle throttle cleaner that could solve the problem, but what does my situation seem like to you guys?
  4. I am about to p/u a new 2016 Hybrid Crosstrek. I am thinking of cancelling it as I just learned Subaru is not taking orders. I am concerned about future problems, resale, etc. Also thinking the car is not as good as I thought from earlier reading. What would you do? Buy a gas, wait, look elsewhere or go through with the purchase? Thanks.
  5. Hi Subaru Owners, Coming on here to ask questions about a 7 year old Forester with 100k that just had its gas tank rust out. Seems a little early for a Subaru to be kicking the bucket? Any help appreciated.
  6. I have a customer (actually a couple of customers) that is/are having an issue with getting the tank to fill. This is an 03 forester 2.5 sohc. When they go to fill up the pump keeps cutting off like the tanks full. I did a quick filler neck swap ( a good used one) and it has the same issue. Could it be a vent hose that isn't letting the tank pressure vent? Any help is much appreciated.
  7. Hello people, This may sound ridiculous to some of you, but for others -like me- this would have been very useful. I have been very busy lately so I have barely done anything to my '01 Legacy. Something I did, however, was to fix an *incredibly* annoying vibration of the gas pedal, which I had felt since I put the engine back after doing the head gaskets. Some time ago I read a post by someone asking for help with a similar issue, but (s)he ended up taking the car to a dealer, who diagnosed an incorrectly routed gas pedal and/or cruise control cables. They fixed the problem, but this person didn't offer a more detailed description of the solution. Last weekend I went to my u-pull of choice, and found a '00 Legacy sedan "totaled" (light right side damage) with a *pristine* -and apparently untouched- engine bay. After getting what I needed (power steering pump), and somehow I remembered to take a picture of the junkyard's car engine bay. When I compared it to my car's, I found the routing of the cables was fine, but I had (mistakenly) fixed them to one of the A/C hoses. The car still runs a little rough, but at least you don't feel anything on your right foot, which I consider an absolute success So... here's the picture: The cables are fixed using plastic clips in three places: - The (wrapped) positive wire from the alternator to the battery. - The positive wire from the battery to the starter motor - One of the A/C hoses (only the cruise control cable) Best luck!
  8. I have a 84' GL 2 dr with a broken gas tank door. The door itself is fine, by the plastic closing mechanism is what is broken, not allowing the lid to stay closed. Attached a couple of pictures that hopefully will make my statement clearer. What I am wondering is if anyone knows where I can get a new, used, part, of if not, any suggestions on fixing it, or modifying. Thanks in advance for all your in put.
  9. Hello Subaru Lovers... Read at bottom to help top is just about car. I have a question for you guys that maybe you can help me with. I have been a Honda and VW (old ones) for years but new to this car. So for quick story traded some work for an 86 Subaru bra rust free AZ car, (fixed his Honda) and got it home and just loved it and want to keep it! T-tops 4x4 and boxer motor that I have worked on for years before on type I-V VW got it. IT's the same but not cause there is water in violved. So I ask you as a community to help restore this great car to it glory. And to all the haters I say "It's Got T-Tops"! ok, The tags on car are AZ 97 so last time was on road. Guy before he got it gave it to him for some job, so been sitting for while. I found it and was from the last guy he said had bad pistion (#3) got it and have it here now. Did compression test 170 psi pass right was 160/165 +/- which I think is good. I have restore old VW Westfalia and they big $ now, but as they are cool I still want to keep this car alive. Also I know what that means and to come on getting it running. So car is rust free AZ car title search is AZ all the time no rust, other than little expected litle in bed, easy fix and everything is there and works. So you read about car, Quston of car, I knew was sitting for 10+ under cover that gas would be bad and turn to you all know what into, so I pumped it all out. Put new gas in (4+ gal) and now with new pump and or and pump or suck a drop. The gas that came out wasn't that bad, I've done old 911 that sat for 30 years in rusty area and this was clean. So my question to you all, help me get this car back on road. Yes there could be plug somewhere which I will check, or tank is that gumed up, which will take and get tank cleaned. But what I don't understand it's a carbarted system with 4-8 psi why doesn't goop break fee? Question I have to ask that subi may know. tank has 3 hoses hanging down next to fuel pump so when it was parked there was a problem with getting fuel, I have ran the car under starter fuilded and sounds fine, what is that cyclender (small) thing on the 3rd hose and is it a air thing that's keeping the fuel from flowing if not blockage? Anyone have pictures or digramas to show how that old fuel system works, and or do I have to take real end out to get fuel tank out to get it cleaned? To be more clear, 3 lines come from tank - ones goes to fuel filter, which I get nothin, 2nd goes over in loop, 3rd goes to small capsal thing and back. Any Pics or ideas would be great. Thanks for any help
  10. I have read that two people have helped or eliminated a gas filling problem by swapping the two small hoses on the mechanical valve at the top of the filler tube. I just had my local garage change the filler on my wife's 2000 Forester and now gas will barely go in. 2 gallons in 10-15 min with a can babying it all the way barely. My questions are, what is the proper name for that valve and does it just connect or disconnect flow between the small tubes or does it have a check built in. If it just connects or disconnects then switching the tubes should not accomplish anything and I will have removed the tire and cover for naught. It is very cold and snowy in my driveway so I would prefer not to waste time if I can help it. Advice would be welcomed.
  11. Ive got an ongoing issue with my 1985 brat, it fights and hesitates when i gibe it gas, sometimes stalling the engine. If i very lightly tap the pedal, its fine. If i floor it, it will hesitate very briefly and then rev up properly. Its right in the middle where i have the most problems, the position you would use most for daily driving. Ive rebuilt and cleaned the carburetor (my first time, i may have missed the problem here) and the problem persists. Changed spark plugs, distributor cap and even added a little fuel additive, but im not getting any improvements. It isnt so much of a problem when the car is warmed up, but i dont have 7 or so minutes to spare every time i need to get somewhere. Anything i should be checking that ive missed? A simple solution right in front of me? Ive even considered a FI manifold and ecu transplant if it means the car will run fine again. I will try to add a link to a video of the problem when i m off work tonight.
  12. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum as ya'll can see. My family has a couple of '96 Subaru's so I figured joining this forum would be a good idea. So I've got a question. My 1996 Subaru Legacy Wagon GT has had some problems starting up after it's been running for awhile. It never does this when it first starts, only after it has been run earlier and then stopped. My dad and I just replaced the entire exhaust system and both cats, and got the check engine lights to come off that had been on since I got the car almost a year ago. We've also pulled the motor and replaced the the rear main seal where it was leaking oil and put it back in time before putting it back in; however, it still has this occasional startup problem. When it happens, I have to give it gas to turn it over and afterwards it putts and acts like it's going to die before it starts running normal again. Could this be something to do with a vacuum line? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem. Thanks, Dan
  13. So I wanna lift my legacy, but as a high school student in search of a job, I want to get OK gas mileage. I was thinking a 4in lift would be best, perhaps a 6. With a 4in lift, what kind I mpg am I looking at, same with a 6? My definition of OK is greater than 15mpg. I'm assuming tires play a big role in it as well. I was thinking some 28's...

  15. WTB: Thought I'd bump this up to a single thread. Looking for a 1978 Gen 1 4WD wagon gas tank with a sending unit. Email me directly at david.j.stancil at gmail.com. Willing to pay for shipping. I'm located in Tucson, AZ. Hoping someone on these boards might be able to help. Any info on where I might find one of these bad mamas you would find me forever in your Subaru debt.
