The wife's 2015 Outback 2.5i Premium w/150k is currently at the dealership with an EPB warning light on and an issue with the left rear parking brake sticking (the recall was already fixed). The service desk claims the VDC hydraulic unit and the right side of the harness needs to be replaced. From what i've researched, the EPB is entirely electronic/mechanical on this vehicle and not included in the hydraulic system. It also makes no sense to me that the right side harness would cause left sided failure of the system. It's not having a stroke. Part #s- VDC H/U #27596AL00E & harness #26018AL02B. If anyone can confirm or deny the service desk's claim I'd be more than appreciative. We really don't have $1200 to flush right now.

Never saw that before. The wife was going to let the car roll forward a bit and when she pushed the release button it came out in her hand. Appears, to me, to be unscrewed but I could be mistaken. Now, no "clicky clicky" , so the parking brake doesn't work at all. I haven't figured out how to take the console apart so that I can have a peek at what might be the matter but I suspect PART of the problem is that the rear brakes need some attention. Any ideas?
