I have a 1996 Subaru Legacy l sedan, that idles almost perfectly, and drives just as good, but when driving randomly ill hear a small click and the engine will try to die, and after a second or two ill hear another click and it will run just fine, i feel as if this is caused by a loose wire in the ignition system but i need some advice before i take it to a shop

Hello Everyone! This is my first post on the site and I have a question about my 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5. My car has 125,000 miles and I took it into subaru to get routine maintenance. Of course they told me a few things I should fix on my car, one of which was a leaking valve cover gasket. Before I took it in I also noticed that my car has been making a noisy ticking sound. I believe that the ticking sound has always been there but seems to be louder than in the past. When I talked to the Subaru Tech he told me that there wasn't much he could do unless I wanted to spend 1K plus trying to tinker with the valvles to figure out what the problem was. The service writer told me it wasn't a big deal and I went on my way. Although I would love to just believe that there is nothing wrong with my car, I would like to see if there is anyone out there that can give me a little more information on this subject. I have read that a "Ticking" noise from Subaru's is quite common but the causes can vary. Below are two links of my car with the engine running. If anyone can provide help, it would be very much appreciated! Videos

Trying to assess my current '94 Loyale / 3AT situation, concerning the ticking sound which accompanies the generally rough sounding idle. Not a knocking but a tick, which i've been told is commonly referred to as "Lifter-Tick" or "the Tick of Death", and can be caused by a few different things. I'm getting help from another USMB member and fellow Loyale owner, @175eya, who said he eliminated his by swapping out his oil pump, but don't quote me on that, i think there was more to it than that. I've also heard simply using a particular type of oil treatment, not sure off the top of my head which one, and then using a heavier weight oil will more temporarily solve the problem. additionally, it's been suggested the valve covers need to be adjusted. i can live with the noise, but i'm looking to increase the performance of my little 90hp engine and more importantly, help save it from any potential damage i'm currently doing to it buy continuing to drive it while it's ticking. even being able to get it up to 70mph at 42k RPM, rather than 65 at the same RPM would make highway driving better, and i'm hoping that solving the ticking issue could help w/ that. thoughts? thanks, the generosity of knowledge and expertise i've experienced here on the USMB already has fantastic and i'm truly grateful.
