Help!!! Had a severed wire in trans when pan pulled. Blue wire going solenoid in bottom when pan was pulled. Reconnected the wire connector broke but have rechecked since and is fine, was reading the torque convertor solenoid voltage code, went away when vehicle started. Have EGR code now but trans only drives in 1st and 2nd gear. If it shifts to 3rd which is rare, slips all the way. When lifting car letting it engage 1st or second gear when hitting brakes (all new hardware) torque convertor. Sounds like a bunch of bolts rattling around or a heat shield loose type of sound. Where do I start? Pulling trans now, but need fixed now and have very little money. 96 outback 2.5 4eat. Also gear shifter does not line up with gear selected. Reverse is N, drive is 3 no real click between 1 and 2 on shift lever.

I have a GL that I'm wanting to get prepared for long road trips and I have a Yakima box for the roof that I want to fill with some common parts that may go bad during a long trip away from civilization that I would be able to fix on the side of the road. I've acquired a mostly good parts car that I'm planning on salvaging parts from so I won't have to worry too much about cost. As my GL hasn't given me many problems in the short time I've had it, I'm not too familiar with what to worry about going bad, so my question is this: What do you guys consider some essential parts to have spares of that would also fit in a roof box and replaced on the side of the road? While I'm at it, anybody got need for parts off of a 91 Loyale push button 4wd? Trans is still good and most of the interior and body is in good shape.

Survival and Roadside Assistance Kit
Sapper 157 posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Okay so I think its no secret that the majority of us subaru guys take our rides into some extreme places. Since we're human, sometimes we forget to fill the tank all the way, or push our rides too far, and end up stranding ourselves in the middle of nowhere until help arrives. Or like all vehicle owners, we find ourselves getting buried in a freak blizzard or something like that. The point being to all this that its a good idea to keep a survival and roadside assistance kit in or vehicles. I have a survival kit in my car,but I know there is more I can add to it. Here's my list, I know there is other stuff that I am forgetting or would be helpful so please chime in with your own list! Survival Matches, WetFire, two lighters, Swedish Steel 3 fleece blankets, 2 space blankets Energy bars H2O purification tabs NOAA Crank weather radio 3 flashlights Extra batteries (AAA and AA) 8-10 chemical hand warmers Deck of cards .22cal Ruger pistol 50' poly rope (or paracord) hatchet Survival knife (I threw in my Gerber Bear Grylls ultimate knife) Knife sharpener T.P. Survival whistle Glow sticks (use them as flares) 3-5 Shotgun shells (my Remington is in the car with me about 60% of the time and even when its not the powder can be used as a fire starter.) Compass Medical Assorted bandaids Quickclot pads gauze Ibuprofen & tylenol Q-Tips med tape burn pads (for severe burns) Aloe Vera antibiotic ointment Tums Anti-diarrheal Chapstick Alcohol Pads Sports tape Mechanical/ Roadside Assistance Guerilla Tape QuickSteel (Basically steel-in-a-tube, awesome stuff!) General tool kit Jack Jumper cables Tire plugs 12v Air compressor Electrical supplies (wire, elec tape, fuses etc.) Shovel 1 quart 10W-30 blended synthetic oil Towstrap WD-40 4 brand new spark plugs Extra thermostat/gasket Fire Extinguisher Zip-ties 1 bottle of cankcase, tranny, power steering stopleak Gallon of coolant Okay so thats what I have in my ride. Now what did I forget that would be useful?
