1988 GL 10 Turbo Wagon Ignition Removal
CFTrunt posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have a 1988 GL10 Turbo Wagon. I have an intermittent starting problem. It starts several times and then it does not. All power comes on and there is a slight click but the solenoid will not engage. I continue to turn the key to start and after 10 or 15 attempts it will engage. The battery is new and the charging circuit is operational. I replaced the starter with a new - not remanufactured - starter. The problem continues. I am now pretty certain the actual ignition/key lock switch is bad. How do I remove it? I have a tilt column. I have heard there is a video on YouTube but I cannot find it. I am ok putting in a new switch and key keeping the old key for the doors but I might have the tumbler keyed to the old key.- 17 replies

I am in the process of pulling the engine on my 05 outback. 2.5i NA. it has high mileage and the water pump froze/melted and snapped the timing belt. I need to rotate the crank to access the flywheel bolts. How can I set the camshaft pulley so I can rotate the crank without any further damage being caused. Do I have to pull the rocker arms off? I plan on going through the motor and rebuilding it.

Does anyone know of anyway to remove the plastic lettering from the back of a 84 GL wagon?? Im talking about the little strip that says "Subaru GL". The paint on the lettering is faded and its long overdue that I repaint it and it would make it a lot easier if I could take off the strip so I could paint it on a bench instead of on the car. Does the thing just snap on and off or is it permanently stuck in there?

I pulled my A/C out of my 92 Loyale and installed matched belts. It seems from other threads that everything should be good to go but I wanted to double check that no other mods need to be done. I am about to do a long drive and wanted to be 100% sure so sorry for the repost if the answer is out there. I also just finished doing (having) all the brakes (done) so it hasn't really been driven since pulling the A/C. That being said, I have most of the parts of an A/C system available to anyone in Vancouver, BC. The only part missing is the radiator but I'm sure it won't be hard to spot the homeless person walking around with it.
