Hi all, I'm looking to purchase a 2009 outback, 5mt. 160k miles. Hit something and the front bumper is cracked, along with the hood being a little wrinkled now. The steering wheel airbag deployed. I'm hoping to buy the car cheap, and replace the airbag myself. Is it just that simple? There are a lot of airbags on ebay for about $150, but they all say 4AT on the back of them. Does that mean they're not compatible with a 5 speed manual? Also, do I need to replace airbag control modules too? Seatbelts x4? I assume once I've done the manual labor, I need to have the components synced at a dealership? I haven't found a write-up on the forum for airbag replacement. OEM airbag from subaru is $550... Hello, I need your assistance identifying the seat belt pretensioner on my 2012 Subaru Legacy 2.5 Premium. The airbag light is on and the error code is "62 - Belt Pretensioner LH Failure" I was told the pretensioner is on the side of the seat and it is where the buckle connects to but I don't have anything like that, do you think it is under the seat? People keep telling me that it is a long cylindrical tube but I just cannot find it. Could one of you point me in the right direction please? Thank you so much. -
Random question... Does anyone know what you would call that bracket on the side of a front seat in a first-gen Legacy with the automatic seatbelts? My bracket on the driver's side is broken, but I can't figure out the right words to search for to find a replacement. It's just right on the outside edge of the seat, right where the seat back meets the seat bottom. The lap belt runs through it (it's a flat loop-shaped plastic bracket), and when you slide the seat forwards or backwards, that loop holds on to the end of the seatbelt so that you can grab it. That's the piece I'm talking about. Thanks -
I have a 2003 Subaru Outback and I needed to repair the rear outer seatbelt due to a tear in the webbing. I purchased a new seat belt assembly from Subaru to replace it. When trying to install it I found that I could not get the seat belt to extend from the retractor no matter what I tried. It is brand new and I noticed when I took the broken belt off, it locked up as well so I don't think it has a broken retractor mechanism. I attempted pulling slow, fast, hard, soft, up, down, left and right with no success. Feel like an idiot. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks a lot!
