I have a 2003 Forester XS and the sunroof will not open. I removed the glass and with the glass off, the mechanism works with no problem. However, with the glass installed the sunroof will only open about half an inch. I think there might something obstructing the glass at the back end, closest to the rear of the car, but I can't figure out what it could be. The sunroof was stuck partly open last time it worked and I had to gently coax it back into position and since then it won't open. I'm wondering if this is a common problem with a simple fix, or perhaps the electric motor is worn out to the point where it won't move the glass.

Hey! ‘I’ve never done this type of thing but I’m really stuck. I use my sunroof everyday, and now for some reason it is off of its track. Every time I use the switches to move it, it makes a loud noise and whatever is going on is preventing it to shut. I’m am traveling down south this weekend and with hurricane Dorian I’d like to at least get it shut before I can get it fixed the right way. I can take pictures if it helps. It’s a 2009 Subaru Impreza. Someone help!

I have looked at all the 1990-1991 sunroof posts and have yet to find any troubleshooting or pinpoint tests for the sunroof electrical circuit. All I see is leak and install issue for the most part. The sunroof worked fine and then just stopped working. I have power coming to my switch and it seems to be coming out as well but If anyone has pinpoint test procedures for the sunroof circuit it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wanted to share my sunroof leak fix with everyone. On the double sunroof wagons blowing compressed air into the front sunroof drain doesn't clear the drain, it blows air out of the front drain of the second sunroof. Evidently they are connected together to share the same drain hole behind the plastic inner fender. So, I removed the few attachments of the front plastic inner fender to find 6 inches of caked dirt and mud jammed in there blocking the drain. Once i cleared out the dirt, I used a small piece of automotive wire to run up the drain hole. Only had to go a couple of inches and a column of water cam flowing out. Now the sunroof no longer fills the map lights with water!!

I have a '92 SVX with sunroof that slides open but not quite closed. Stays open about 1.5 inch. If i hold the button down I still hear motor turning. I cleaned tracks with WD 40, paper towels and cotton swabs doesn't move any further. Also lubricated linkage at back of sunroof. When it comes to a stop its a definite stop. Feeling the panel as it closes the stop seems to be on front driver corner. Any suggestions? Diagrams of this mechanism?

My 2004 Legacy Wagon 35th Anniversary Edition, which is equipped with moonroof and sunroof is leaking. After a drive through moderate to heavy rainfall, I noticed water dripping from the headliner trim above front passenger door. Upon further inspection, I found the headliner above front passenger door and rear passenger door to be wet. Would a clogged drain channel from moonroof/sunroof be causing this, or could it be the channel/trim above the doors/windows on the outside of the car? Has anyone else had issues like this? Thanks.

I'm wondering if anyone with a Legacy in the '95-'99 range that has a sunroof (power moon roof) could post a pic of the emergency tool used to manually open/close the sunroof. The '95 I recently purchased does not have the tool and I'm trying to figure out what I am looking for or what I can use as a substitute (is a hex head?). Thanks!
