1984 4 speed dual range 4wd. Transmission just started making noise today. It sounds like a light grinding/humming noise. Like a bad bearing. Makes the noise when clutch is engaged but car is in neutral. As soon as I push the clutch pedal down it goes away. Googles telling me a bad input shaft bearing? I'm not a transmission repairman by any means. Any ideas?

Hi all! I got my first Subby last april and love it. Wish I had one years ago. I've been meaning to get on a forum like this for a while now to learn about maintance and such. I do a lot of driving and want to keep my outback for years to come. It's a 07'2.5 automatic Outback. I bought it with 80,000 miles and have all ready put 30,000 miles on it since. Like I said, a lot of driving. I wanted to ask what maintance to do for the 100,000 mark (i've looked around here and couldn't find anything). Also a few weeks ago when the temps got below 20 degrees I started hearing a winding noise from the center column after 10mph. I thought it was just the cold temps, but last week temps been in the 40's and the noise is still there. Any insight is much appreciated!
